  1. Your post was the inspiration for mine - I'm an adult! I managed 6 dives on my Birthday. 3 AFF's, 2 Tandems, and a fun dive with my GF. I'm a lucky guy! t

    I'm an Adult!

Sunday 02 February 2003 @ 15h36 was 18 years since my first ever SL jump done on round Mil Surplus gear from 2500 ft. Must admit, when kitting up for that dive - I never expected to be jumping 18 years and 3731 dives later... t It's the year of the Pig.

  4. Do you know what PISA stands for? Parachute industries of Southern Africa. They have made all Aerodyne products since 1994. They are still very much in operation. I ordered risers from them yesterday -04 Feb - and will have them on Monday. Below is an e-mail I recieved from Ian Bellis. Hello Eric, All of our canopies are designed by us at Aerodyne. In the earlier days of the company we also manufactured them ourselves at our Tampa, Florida facility. Later we established a relationship with Strong Enterprises as a contract manufacturer. We now have a similar arrangement with PISA. They manufacture our designs to our specifications as a contract manufacturer. I hope this answers your question. Thank you for your email. 5. The pilot was unaware as the dive was done in contravention of all CAA, DZ and Parachute association rules - and without the knowledge of the pilot or DZ management. It only came to light a week later when I was viewing a students video footage. It had been dubbed onto the tape. It's the year of the Pig.
  6. Microlights are easy to jump, as long as you have a co-operative pilot. From a regulatory point of view here - you can jump a microlight over a registered DZ as long as you do so for free. Microlights cannot be registered for commercial use in SA. You could maybe do things a back route though, like give the pilot a microwave oven 2 weeks later to say "Thanks" t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. The pilot was unaware as the jump was done without his or the DZ management's concent or knowledge. t It's the year of the Pig.
  8. Hi there, Yeah, the dudes I busted are on the ground right now and facing disiplinery action... I just want to know the risks so the punishment can fit the crime, you know? It's the year of the Pig.
  9. The grommet the closure loop goes through can collect a line... causing a mal you can't chop from and risking a main reserve entanglement - and death. t It's the year of the Pig.
  10. Not true - as far as I know. Nothing on their site. t It's the year of the Pig.
  11. Hi There, Civil aviation regulations here make it illegal to jump with a spaceball. They allow only sand and Water (Ballast) to be deliberatly be dropped from an aircraft in flight. The jumpers involved are quite skilled. 1 has 2500 dives of which nearly 1000 are freefly, the other 2 around 300 each - all freefly. Is jumping with a ball really dangerous for people on the ground? There is residential housing about 0.7 miles from the DZ. The ball is caught almost every time, but a few have been lost. Those involved try and spot away from the houses, but have no control over the run in as the pilot does it through gps and is unaware of the nature of the jumps. Thanks, t It's the year of the Pig.
  12. If they never got all they wanted from you... (money)they would contact you. I think you should at least let them know they cocked up - and point them at the thread to see the press their error is getting... t It's the year of the Pig.

    man, girls suck.

Sorry to hear that... sometimes its just the conquest, you know? No one wants to live at the top of Everest. Just get there and leave. Most of the time, I just don't give a shit who likes me, until I like someone back. I'm lucky, and chicks seem to dig me. I like only one at a time, and I reallly like the one I'm with now, but the obsticals are massive. She's American, I'm South African, 15 year age gap with me being the old one as usual, she's a harvard grad and I'm a high school grad - but we both skydive and climb and put everything into everything, and if it ends (or when it ends) I'll be glad I had the time I did, and won't resent the time I won't recieve. Life is fragile, there are no garentees, and its WAY too short to mope. get out and pretend to be happy. You may wake up next to someone and find you're no longer pretending. Blue Skies, t It's the year of the Pig.
  15. More of the same. I guess... but we're on the next load. Not together though. She's a freefly coach and I'm an AFF I... but we do get to jump sometimes...

    tabasco sauce

I'm a baby when it comes to spicy food. Started about a year ago - with a new GF. I'm on the green pepper tabasco - milder - but I use a lot more! Going through a bottle a week, and I have some in my car in case the restarant doesn't have any!

    Dive loops

Go for blocks. The loops will trap you sooner or later, and in your efforts to escape you'll probably drop a toggle and it'll all end in tears... t It's the year of the Pig.
  18. Last one from 4500... Our DZ is 5500ft ASL and its over 100 deg in Summer (Now) The student begins to downsize on their solo's, and we've found a bit more canopy time helps out. We're as capable of moving the students arms or legs on AFF as your I is on Tandem - but I have no doubt your canopy skills are way higher. Tandem is a good way to learn this, but with a poor exchange rate, a Tandem rig costs more than most houses or cars do... and so jumps on them are expensive. AFF gear is locally made by PISA - the same company that makes the Tempo reserve. Whatever happens, enjoy yourself and do your best. Don't try too hard. Skydiving really just happens when your calm.
  19. Hi Suz, We do no Tandem on our AFF program. Tandem is a joyride, maybe a canopy training tool. Our L1,2 and 3 is double I, 4, 5, 6, and 7 single I and L8 (3 dives) solo, 2 from the top and last one from 4500. Works OK! t It's the year of the Pig.
  20. Sober is cool. Celibate is a choice. Good if its your choice. If its everyone elses... that's not so good. Your life should be clear and uncomplicated. Enjoy. t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. Hi Suz. I'm an AFF I, and my logbook shows just about everyone passes L4. I think if you're going to fail, L3 would be it, as you're down to 1 I after that. Go out positive, listen to the briefing, think fast and move slow. You're more experienced a skydiver than you've ever been before. t It's the year of the Pig.
  22. You saw a skydiving movie about a 200lb parrot? What's it called? t It's the year of the Pig.
  23. Once dreamed I was a 90kg (200lb) Plastesine (Like play dough) Parrot who would skydive with my friends - and non of them ever suspected I was me. Good dives too. Would fly off the wingtip of the Porter and then join the dives. Was cool... t It's the year of the Pig.
  24. Firkin A bud. What gives moral high ground these days is having all the cool guns... t It's the year of the Pig.
