I'm giving my age away here, as I was in High School in the late 70's. In Cleese's early days he did a bunch of educational video's, like "how to prepair for a job interview" I'd seen an early Monty Python movie, and recognised him from that... and was laughing my head off! Here in South Africa we are also aligning to the FAI standard. Our "D" has been 300 dives for the last 10 years. Our licences are also disipline specific - so you may hold a D in FS, but that doesn't make you a freefly expert. t It's the year of the Pig.

Many instructors believe you can't arch with your chest strap tight. This is nonsense. Comfort is one thing, Having the rig come off is another. I wear mine WAY tighter than average, then back it off under canopy. t It's the year of the Pig.

That's good advice. I've just bought a 107, and have spent 2 weekends working on my "backyard" landings. Straight aproach, slow as possible touchdowns with as little speed as I can manage. I think I'll be telling my students that as well from now on. t It's the year of the Pig.

The DZ nearest here, (Wonderboom, Pretoria, South Africa) is celebrating their 40th birthday this Easter and is the second oldest in SA. The oldest has been going since 1955. Both operate in their origional locations. t It's the year of the Pig.

I don't know, but we're on that road in South Africa now. I'm CI of only the second turbine DZ in the country. We got a Porter a year back. The other DZ is maybe 100 miles from here and they operate a King Air B90. Everyone else is in Cessnas... t It's the year of the Pig.

Yeah. Every year an Alti or two of mine walk off. My stuff is scattered all over the DZ, and Justice, a friend and packer of my rig follows me about and keeps track of my stuff. When I'm queried about my "poor security" my answer is always the same. I'm at home. I don't lock away everything in my home, even when strangers visit. t It's the year of the Pig.

Do AFF. But then again - I'm an AFF I. I think where you have lots of "down-time" due to weather or other factors, the more you can learn in your "up time" the better.

Well, they didn't do it for me. I was one of the first people to lose a Pro Dytter - and they told my dealer "it had never happened before." A few months later they were handing them out to everyone. Pissed me right off - and I never got what I paid for. See my review. t It's the year of the Pig.

I have one in my rig. It's 2 years overdue for it's 8 year service simply because they cocked up the first one so badly. If it turns on - great. If not - great. About 2400 of my dives have been done without. t It's the year of the Pig.
