  1. They decided to become one trick ponies. I think that's a shame. There are so many different ways to play in the sky. Why be limited to only one way? I disagree. At his (and my) level we don't have a whole lot of jumps to try different things if we actually want to be good at something. I decided to focus on rel work straight off student status simply because I was not at a level yet where I felt I was good enough to say "ok, done that, what's next?". I'm happy to be a "one trick pony" at this stage, because it means I'm (maybe) ok at rel work as opposed to sucking at 2 disiplines (no offence to anyone). I have friends who went straight to freeflying and they arent too good at rel work now, but I have never tried freeflying and know they would fly circles around me if I did a freefly jump with them! As for the original post and choosing a discipline, it was fairly easy for me because of my competitive nature and the jump restrictions placed on intermediate 4way (in Australia). If I had 400 freefly jumps I'd have a hard time getting into an inter 4way team here, inter freefly doesnt have the same restrictions, so I persued 4way and am saving freeflying for later. Even if you're not competetive, wouldnt you rather focus on one thing at a time? Even if you make a choice now, that's not the be all and end all, you can always do 200 freefly jumps now, and then 200 rel jumps or whatever. Good luck with the decision. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  2. Looking after a person with arthritis is a lot easier than looking after an animal with arthritis. The person knows why they are in so much pain, you cant explain it to the animal. The person can also be placed in a wheel chair and remain fairly mobile, the animal can only lie on the ground wimpering in pain each time it tries to move or get up. Their quality of life are completely different. On the topic of euthanasia, apparently some ill patients at the hospital in new orleans were euthanaised just before the hurricane hit because the nurses knew they would not survive. At least, that's what we were told on the news here (in Australia). www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  3. Are you pure muscle or could you stand to lose some of that weight? Losing some weight may be the simplest answer to your problem. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  4. I had a very different experience with Square 1 and I think Para Gear has the best service ever but I have spoken to people who say the exact opposite. Just goes to show every company is going to have customers that love them and customers that will never go back, and then all those customers in between. One thing to remember is that it's usually the individual person at the company that makes your experience with them either good or bad, sometimes though we cant get past that one person making it bad to speak to someone who knows what they're talking about! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

  6. I heard a similar report from a family on tv (in Australia) this morning who's parents are in there. Apparently they had shut themselves in a room with some other people because of the mounting tensions. The family wants officials from the Australian Consulate to go in and get their parents (and the friends with them) out which sounds so selfish to me. There's thousands of people in there, sending a bus in (if they can even gain access?) to take out select people is the quickest ticket to a riot when tensions are already mounting. I understand people are worried about their loved ones, but they need to get them all out or things will just get much worse. My thoughts are with everyone stuck in this horrible situation, and those of you who have friends or family effected. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  7. :5:0 5 jumps on saturday with my 4 way team. Our first jumps together for a month because we all went away (to different places). Sunday, I got my new metallic blue Z1 and it's beautiful and I cant wait to jump it next weekend when the team is doing a 3 day mini "training camp". Only 4.5 days to go! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  8. hehe this reminds me of one of the later levels of AFF. I didnt have a good grip of the plane and my fingers were slowly slipping, losing my grip and in a panic I said to my JM "I'm gonna fall out!!" hehe. When we landed he paid out on me so much. He's now our cameraman for the 4 way team I'm in. Thankfully he doesnt bring it up too often hehe. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  9. When I was just off student status I did a 4 way jump that went bad at about 8k. One person went low (It wasnt me I swear!) and hung around below us for the rest of the jump. When we landed I heard one of the guys on the jump (with about 200 jumps) yelling at the guy who went low, telling him he should have tracked away then and there (at 8k!). I went over and asked why it was a good idea to risk tracking into the group before or after us when we could otherwise just keep an eye on him and avoid him at break off height. We got into a discussion about it, and I backed down because I was new and figured this guy must know better than me. I asked an instructor the next day and he backed up what I had said. Seems people of all experience levels are not quite sure what they should do in this situation, which is scary, because it can happen quite easily on any jump. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  10. People will do anything for money. I live in Australia and I havent heard anything about this, granted I am not as up to date with news as I could be, but I watched the news this morning and last night and have heard nothing of this, so if it isnt even making the news here, they must realise that she's a fake. On the topic of dingo's attacking kids - they killed a kid on Fraser Island a couple of years ago and attacked his brother and a few days later they attacked another group of kids. They're wild dogs, I have no doubt they are capable of taking a baby, but who knows what really happened to Azaria. Maybe I should claim I am Azaria reincarnated because she was 'taken' the day I was born........the plot thickens. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  11. I have one and have decided to keep it connected until I have my first cutaway. I trust myself that I will pull the right handles when it counts, but so did people who are now deceased due to cuting away and then doing nothing until impact. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  12. Well then the new question is - did you all try to "kill him" again and have you cleaned those bathrooms yet?! Seriously though, I cant believe he showed his face there after everything he's said about the place and the people. Did he receive a warm welcome or was it solo's for him? www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  13. From those pictures it looks like the numbers may be a bit small to read clearly in freefall. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  14. You can hurt youself on any jump - statistics really dont matter when it comes to something like this. In this sport, shit can (and often does) just happen. If it's going to mean the end of your studies perhaps you should rethink your part in skydiving until you can (somewhat) afford to be injured - obviously no one plans to be injured and it's a pain in the ass to most people's jobs etc, but if it means not being able to study at all it could be a massive problem. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  15. The only question that remains is - did veter jump at the ranch this past weekend? www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  16. Oh give me a break. We weren't rude about it, we simply pointed you in the right direction to get the answers you wanted. Like someone else said - the truth is, people dont want to answer something that has been asked and answered a million times on the forums before because we are too lazy to type it out again (I remember a thread about this just last week). www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  17. Mods: Perhaps this thread should be locked. There is not really anything beneficial being added to it now (and he is obviously not listening anyway) and it's probably not going to die on its own. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  18. That's what the forum is for, but if we can save HH some bandwidth by doing a search first, that's even better! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  19. ding ding!! We have a winner! You don't actually win anything though. So, Billvon who got a hold of your password? www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  20. You would hate it more if you had actually exited in it! Note: We have clearance to jump through cloud at my dz - unfortunately sometimes those clouds have rain/sleet/ice/hail etc in them. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  21. This has been discussed many times on the forums, do a search and see what turns up.
  22. Dude, if your packer packed you a mal and you continued to use him... what can I say. And if you still use him after he packed 2 mals for you..... BUT if you think someone at your dz is trying to "kill you" (with a half collapsed slider, no less) you should definately keep jumping there because that's the only option (if you dont count the thousands of other dz's in the world). Admit it, you've lost the plot. You don't belong at the Ranch and you have just managed to ostrasise yourself from pretty much any other dz. If I were you (and I thank god I'm not), I would take up bowling (once the medication has kicked in), because you will find that you are probably not going to receive a warm welcome at any dz again, which is unfortunate, but we all make our choices and deal with the consequences (although, it seems you're having a hard time dealing with consequences, but one day you might get it). Oh yeah, and check out my sig line, I think it applies to you. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  23. You seem to be experienced in what you say... Wow, there's another unfounded accusation. Maybe you should sit back, take a deep breath and spend some time with your golf clubs. You're not winning any friends here, let alone any support. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  24. I seriously doubt that your gear was tampered with. Not everyone gets along in this world, but that doesnt mean people want to hurt or kill those people. Your allegations are very serious, and if I were you, I would be extremely careful with making such allegations in a public forum with little or no proof to back it up. Whilst you can threaten to sue the Ranch, I'm sure they also have lawyers who would be quite interested in a defimation law suit against you. If you really think your gear was tampered with, take the appropriate course of action to deal with the issue, whining in a public forum and trying to make the dz look bad is really not going to get you or your "case" anywhere. Asking about "other tampering cases" is also going to get you nowhere. So what if gear was tampered with at x dropzone in 1967, does that make your "case" stronger? Lastly, if you really believe people at your dz are tampering with your gear, why do you continue to jump there? www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
  25. You should definately sue. I know a good lawyer if you're interested. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
