I'm a really touchy/huggable person, aways have been. I pretty much hug people from day one, but sometimes my friends remind me that it can be misconstrued as something else... it makes me feel bad then that people might think of me as an excessive flirt or something because I enjoy hugging and touching people. depends on the person... i've had friends just come to the dz to drop me off, they've been there for maybe 10 minutes and managed to be bored and rude in that space of time. i'd never bring them back. Not saying that I couldn't find someone who would come and have a great time, just don't think i'd bother risking that they would act the way my other friends have. i don't want to have to babysit bored people and i don't want to cringe at their rude comments or actions... for me, skydiving stays out of my time with whuffo friends. I like the balance.

0:4:0 A lazy weekend, both days the weather was beautiful so I spent a lot of time lying around on the grass in the sun talking and thinking about getting up and actually jumping. Had fun though, one of my jumps was a tandem with a fellow jumper who was going for his tandem rating, so weird to be a passenger again, i did everything i could to catch him out but he did a perfect job getting us stable and the jump went great but my gosh how uncomfy are those harnesses compared to sports rigs! yikes.

I don't have many jumps but I know how you feel. I've been told by my instructors that I had the worst case of door fear they'd ever seen by any student that kept coming back. I'd be hanging onto the inside of the plane half way up with one hand, unable to move anywhere near the door, and having my instructors trying to pull me towards the door with my free arm. It wasn't until about jump 8 where i took so long people landed off that i realised i had to shape up and get out quicker. It's tough, breaking that mental barrier of actually leaving the aircraft. I was fine all the way to altitude, fine on the ground and fine in freefall, it was just those few moments between inside and outside that were the killer. As everyone has said, it gets a lot easier with time, I had to just keep telling myself that it's simply mind over matter, that you want to jump, you're ready to do it, you are calm and there is no need to worry about falling 'cos you're about to jump anyway. Take two big deep breaths and you'll be right. don't stress out too much about it, the phase will pass with time, i don't have the same uncontrollable fear i used to but i'm still guilty of trying to spot out the back of the skyvan whilst standing a foot from the edge. They keep telling me to stick my head right out there and look under the plane but it's that mental thing again... just takes time.

Anyway, i wasn't born with the name Lainey but i've been called it by everyone I know and meet for the past 9 years so i guess it's kind of stuck and i don't mind, I like it better than my real name. I've thought about changing it legally but, I don't know, feels a little disrespectful to my parents to change my name even though they don't even use my real name themselves. .
