  1. Hey Michael- Right now the terrain where I'm primarily jumping is either granite, sandstone or concrete. I've used Merrill approach boots and several versions of Five.Ten shoes (Guide, Mountain Masters and Insight) and have found that I killed that nice sticky rubber long before I trashed the upper exterior shoe itself. While the boots/shoes were great for getting to exits over concrete or granite they didn't do as well on sandstone. With the life span of the sticky soles being a bit less than other 'generic' (usually Vibram) soles, I found the selection of something without sticky rubber to be a better option for me and my mix of jumping. Just my $.02. Baxter.
  2. Thanks for the update. Great work Lee, can't wait to see some video! Baxter.
  3. This weekend should be a great time. We have a few people signed up for the PFI Course tomorrow and almost 15 folks signed up for demo suits and flocking! Should be a blast!
  4. Connecticut Parachutist, Inc (Clicky) is having its 2nd Annual Wingsuit Weekend June 2-4th. There will be First Flight Courses as well as beginner and advanced flocking loads beginning Friday and continuing throughout the weekend. Additionally, I’ll be holding a Phoenix-Fly Instructor’s Course on Friday (PM or e-mail me at [email protected] for more information about PFI course times and requirements.) I’ll have demo Tracking Pants/Jackets, Prodigys, Acros, Phantoms and V-1s available. Call in sick… work will always be there. Come out and learn to fly or join in on some flocking! Baxter.

    Ground Launching

Ground launching base canopies is routinely done at The Point in SLC. Since you're in Ida-ho, make the trip down sometime. Have fun.

    BURNING SITES

That is a sure way NOT to get intived to jump other folks objects!
  7. Thanks for the plug Brandy! We do need a rule about weather. I.e. an 'official' weather person to make a 'competition on' or 'competition off' decision both before an during the event so the winner is not the person who jumps in the worst conditions if winds pick up and half the competitors decide not to jump. Just my $.02 Baxter.

    Baffin Island

At least Gunnar won't be sweating too much that cold climate! Chad, I'd be up for the trip too. Baxter.
  10. Just a quick update from the Mesquite Boogie that was held January 13-15. We had good weather and lots of fun flights. Several people demoed Prodigys and Phantoms with the group working towards a six way formation out of a Caravan. Shout-outs to Ren, Jeff, Mike, Faris, Skylar, Carson and Stu. It was great jumping with you guys. Baxter.

    MTV's True Life

Look, ingesting ball sweat was not on the agenda that morning so I am as disgusted as anyone. Little did I know that Gunnar sweats like a frick'n monkey on crack.(dude, you have an issue, see a doctor!) Gunnar sweats more than Tom A. climbing out of the Perrine!!! Maybe I need to make an announcement to all base jumpers not to climb below Gunnar. Additionally, MTV should edit their show to add a warning so here is my official notice to them... Hey, MTV, I got something for ya... Gunnar, your race car driving, skydiving, base jumping bitch has sweat glands the size of an elephant especially around his nuts!!! (I'm sure Brandy will second this!!! ) Still dry-heaving; Baxter.

    MTV's True Life

I'm still living under the belief that it was NOT ball sweat. It is the only way I can sleep at night.
  13. Why not offer Link free tuition to a BASE course at the Perrine? Let's forget the prerequisite number of skydives for a second and just either let him audit the course w/o jumping or PCA him into the river. Either way he might come away with a greater appreciation for our sport... or might just be more educated in how to bust jumpers. Is this worth a try?

  15. You might be better off posting your question on www.paraglidingforum.com, checking into a SIV/Acro clinic or just watching one of Mad Mike Kung's (www.madmikekung.com videos reallllllly closely.

shit, I'm so excited I'm off to the bird to practice... looks like a powder day.
  18. A couple of us from SLC will be up there on Saturday (11/19).
  19. Just bought a pair of these: http://www.thewindyplanet.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/1914871/vpcsid/1440768/SFV/31052 and they have worked well for jumping, hiking and paragliding.
  20. Dudes- I’ve been researching and field testing all day and have to apologize that I may have jumped the gun on this issue. According to this article I just found on the study in question http://www.medpagetoday.com/Neurology/GeneralNeurology/tb/1934 The test; “…does not involve smoked or ingested marijuana, but rather a synthetic compound dubbed HU-210, which Dr. Zhang said is 100 times as powerful as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound responsible for the highs experienced by recreational users.” Now, several question are raised by this such as does recreational use of THC do anything for neurons and, more importantly, were can I get some of that HU-210?!?!? Come on Dr. Zhang, hook a brotha up! Later dudes, back to testing…
  21. Okay, don’t shoot the messenger here but this is a great new Canadian study that does, contrary to what you naysayer might think, have direct BASE application. Check out http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/10/1013_051013_cannabis_2.html especially the part that says: “…may relieve depression and anxiety and improve memory as well.” How many times have you been at exit when you buddy says; “dude I’m really nervous” or “dude I forgot the cell phone/radio/helmet/body armor etc.” Those anxieties and bouts of forgetfulness may be a thing of the past with the proper application of enough cannabinoids. Well, off to field test…

  23. RG is an intimidating jump... walls coming up at you, uneven terrain, small-ish landing area, shifty winds but some damn good visuals!
