  1. We wouldn't want tourists bringing in unregistered guns into this country then selling them to anyone, yet you're telling the OP to do it in Mexico. To the OP find out the laws and know what you're getting into. You're talking about Mexico and heaven forbid something happens and you're left to deal with the cops there.
  2. What he said. Motivation is irrelevent, it's the actions that are criminal. Assault and murder are crimes and should be prosecuted the same way regardless of whether they were committed for financial benefit or the color of the victim's shoelaces. Blues, Dave How can motive be irrelevant. If your motive is to perpetuate fear and terrorize a certain group shouldnt that be taken into account. You have to agree that burning a cross on someones lawn carries a harsher message than simple vandalism.
  3. Yeah sounds really familiar. Remember this BS that was fed to us: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/10/20021007-8.html
  4. I'm not trying to cloud the issue, just stating that the circumstances in which an action, mainly criminal, is committed in plays a significant role. I agree hate crime in this instance, assault an opposing team fan, is BS. But lets say I plan and purposely pick Black owned homes and burn crosses on them with the intent to intimidate and terrorize should be treated differently that if I just go and vandolize a random homes.
  5. You're missing a HUGE point. Yes, someone is dead, but the circumstances play a significant role. I think most would agree that killing in self defense should be treated differently than premeditated murder. If murder is murder then explain the following three: justifiable homicide, criminal homicide and manslaughter. All three involve the same act, taking a human life. Yet each is treated differently under the law. Why, if murder is murder in your mind.
  6. As it should be. This article should hopefuly clear it up for some. http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/04/07/scotus.cross.burning/
  7. So then murder is murder regardless of motive, situation or planning. Why are there different degrees of murder then? What youre missing is that hate crimes differ from regular crimes in that the former might be used to intimidate or cause fear to a certain group or class of people.
  8. Again you bring up good points. But cholesterol and body fat is a tricky issue. My dad is thin, has an excellent diet and his cholesterol is high. Genetics can be a pain sometimes. I would like to see most people get a physical every year and maybe work with their GP on maintaing a healthy weight and addressing any health related issues. Maybe health care companies can provide incentives for people to get yearly physicals. I agree with you 110% on preventive care. My neighbor has a kid who is prob pushing 220lbs + and he's only 15. She herself is obese too. Question is how do you deal with situations like that. How do we stop that before it even starts.
  9. Excellent point. I jump at Snore and Perris, like em both. If I can give you a small piece of advice do some tunnel time. I did 15 min between my AFF 1 and AFF 2 jump and it helped me out immensely. The tunnel is a great tool and you should take advantage of it.
  10. I agree. But how do you determine who is obese? BMI is useless and allowing healthcare companies to look at you medical records could be a huge mistake.
  11. It's not surprising at all. Just read up on Iran's history and the CIA. They have all the right to be suspicious of our intentions in the middle east, especially when the CIA is involved. How would we feel if a foreign agency orchestrated a coup d'etat some 50 years ago and installed a puppet government.
  12. Read up on his background. He spent a boat load of money fighting communism and promoting democracy in Eastern Europe. I guess this is why Reps hate him so much: http://www.campaignmoney.com/biography/george_soros.asp Soros at one time spent over $100 million on new text books, libraries and teacher training in former Soviet Union states. He supported Poland's Solidarity movement, apartheid opponents in South Africa and dissedents in Eastern Europe. Talk about a left wing nut job.
  13. Which is a great thing. Vigilantism is a big sign of society falling apart. It means people are unwilling and unable to differentiate justice from revenge. It also indicates a childish lack of impulse control. Agreed. I dont like him, but heaven forbid anything happens to him on American soil. It would not only be catastrophic but a huge slap on our face. I'm glad he's here and he spoke at Columbia, although the way the Uni Pres treated him was disgraceful. Let Ahmadinejad talk as much as he wants and prove to the world that he really is a fool. Who was it that said, 'Better to remain silent and thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt.'
  14. Agreed but in all seriousness does anyone really worry that happening to our currency. We're talking about stable economic systems and the impact of interest rates on the currency.
  15. I will agree with you upto a certain point. Although you cannot compare our economy to that of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe's GDP is aprox $24B USD. There are pro's and con's to a weak dollar. I wouldn't want to visit Europe anytime soon though.
  16. Nope. It's cyclical. What goes up must come down and vice versa. Another thing that impacts the dollar is what other world banks do. If you can invest in the Euro for 5.50% versus the USD for 4.50%, which would you go with? Now expand that 10,000 fold. Look at Russia. At one point in time they had close to 80+% of their reserves in USD. Now it's split, I think, 45% Euro, 45% USD and the remaining in either the pound or Yen. They had to dump USD and buy Euros, once again increasing the supply of USD. Now expand that even more to include China, Japan, and other nations. Oil is impacted by the price of the dollar too since USD is pretty much the only currency in that market. Dollars goes down oil pretty much goes up since since the dollar is worth less. One major concern is 'what if' the oil markets transitioned to the Euro. That would pretty much be it for the USD. Oil trades would have to dump dollars and buy and keep Euros to trade oil.
  17. Oil company boardrooms.. and defence industry contractors... and Chinese banks. You forgot comedians. W has given them so much to work with the last 6 years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tc-eh3GwLw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDxIFRnIclg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGFz4bnkRXk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5r6TqpOQGc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkqrI3IibYI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irOFAjsnSg0
  18. Ali made several points which many fail to see or understand. He said several times that why should he go and fight for rights in Vietnam when Blacks here in the states were discriminated against. Like he said once, "No vietcong ever called me a Nigger." I find it absurd that so many would blindly go to war and risk their lives rather than stand up and question our government and its decisions for going to war.
  19. And lets not forget the tireless efforts of the Vatican to prevent condom use in the worst AIDS hit countries in the world. Ah, let us not forget that the disease can be avoided by one keeping thier knees together or thier dick in thier pants I know someone that got AIDS from blood transfusion during surgery. Kindly explain how he could have avoided it by using your methods. How about women that are raped or cheating spouses. I'm sure the methods that are mentioned would work great in these instances.
  20. You could also check out SuperBad. That one was pretty funny. If you wanna stay in rent Grandmas Boy or Hot Fuzz. Both are great.
  21. This is some great advice. I dont want to sound like an a-hole, but if you can barely afford the gear how will you pay for your jumps. A single day of jumping can set back 80+ dollars. That's for only a few jumps and one day. Now lets say you wanna jump a few days out of the month, that can easily add up to $150+. Then start adding on coach jumps, events, new toys and it really starts costing some cash. Take a step back and look at the big picture.
  22. If you look at history every time religion and government have been mixed atrocities are committed under the name of 'God'. Look at countries like Saudi Arabia. Also if the founding father wanted this new nation to be a Christian country then why didn't they specifically state it. Look at what Washington said: "I am persuaded, you will permit me to observe that the path of true piety is so plain as to require but little political direction. To this consideration we ought to ascribe the absence of any regulation, respecting religion, from the Magna-Charta of our country." You can see that he is a deeply religious man. But when it comes to dealing with it, the regulation of it, or establishment of a national religion, the government should not interfere.
  23. So what's the full context in which it was written. Was in not in reply to the Danbury letter? What's your take on Jefferson's Act for Establishing Religious Freedom. Mainly this part: "Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly, That no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burdened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in nowise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities." What's your point? He was the principle author of the f-ing Declaration of Independence and one of the greatest minds to ever walk this earth. I think Madison pretty much sums it up in Memorial and Remonstrance. No, it's not all fiction. But how do you separate that fact from fiction. It's a religious book and should be studied as such.
  24. All of them. 1. We were not founded as a Christian nation. End of story. Just read some of the things Jefferson and other founding fathers have to say about religion, mainly Christianity. This is from a letter Jefferson wrote: "Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should `make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and state." If that's not enough read Madison's Memorial and Remonstance. He states several reasons why government should not be involved in the support of ANY religion. 2. Teachers should not lead prayers in public schools. This ones pretty clear. 3. The Bible is not history nor should be taught as that.
  25. No you're not. It's your duty as an American to question the actions of your government and if need be oppose the actions if they are unjust. IMO you're a coward and a maggot if you blindly believe and follow whatever the government feeds down your throat w/o questioning it. Ali pretty much sums it up here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL1BC45QXAk He does have a point doesnt he.
