I can see the idea of the iPad revolutionizing the way data is used and presented in the sectors you mentioned. Just imagine the possibility for doctors. The iBook feature is great for college students, no more need to carry around all those heavy text books. It's just going to take some time to get there.

Apple products aren't gadgets, each product fits a specific niche and very well. Just look at the company's marketcap. iPod and the iPhones revolutionized their industries. MSFT launched the zune which never even touched the iPod and the zune has been loosing market share since 2009. The iPod has over 70% of the market share for portable music players. As to the iPhone, all other manufacturers are playing catch-up. Since it was released in 07 over 51 million units have been sold and quarterly sales have been strong and increasing since it was first released. I've played with the iPad for a bit and liked it, but would not dish out $800 for one. You also have to remember that the iPad is not focused on productivity like a PC or laptop, nor is it a communications device like a cell phone, it's purpose is entertainment. It's meant to browse the web, emails, photos, playing games, and watching movies. All of which it does great, but beyond that don't expect much.
  3. “Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it” Worked for the Nazi's back in the 1930's, works today and will work in the future. Pretty scary.
  4. All they say is they are a '501(c)4 non-profit.' They don't post what percentage of the donation are used for admin expenses, or where the money goes. Brings to mind an old saying about a fool and his money are soon parted. Pretty good website if you ask me, they know how to stir people up and then ask them for money.
  5. In Cali. Deukmejian (R) from 83-91. 8 years Wilson (R) 91-99. 8 Years Davis (D) 99-03. 4 years Arnold (R) 03-present. 7 years and counting. Rep 20+ years. Dems less than 5 years. Looks like Republicans have been in control here in Cali more than the Dems. So what's your point. And yes we know that Davis was recalled in 03.
  6. A slight tangent. Nothing like a good thai curry. IMO the tofu picks up the flavor a lot better than chicken, beef or shrimp.
  7. So if you're gay and eat seafood you're pretty much done for.
  8. You're talking about Mexico. One of the most corrupt governments out there. In Columbia Pablo Escobar almost bought out the Presidency, these guys have billions and are willing to kill not only the politicians, but go after their families too. You either take their money or they'll kill you and your family. So I don't think PC weakened their or our resolve. Read the book 'Killing Pablo' by Mark Bowden. They only value money, take that away and you pretty much strip them of their power.
  9. Violence within the cartels would increase. They would scramble to secure the remaining resources and markets the have. I'd rather have them killing each other off than civilians, polices officers, judges and attorneys. Ever since we legalized MJ here in Cali the street market has pretty much dried up. Yes, there will always be a black market, but nowhere near as much as when MJ was illegal.
  10. Of course not. These guys are extremely resourceful. I read that they liquidized cocaine and put it in a shipment of wine bottles. But we are talking about securing our borders. There is no simple answer, but we have to start somewhere. What would you suggest?
  11. There will always be illegal drugs, it's a fact of life. But taking away their cash cow, i.e., marijuana will definitely hurt them. From what that article said mj is their bread and butter, it's a steady stream of revenue that they use to finance other activities. I didn't know that and I can see why they are against the legalization of it.
  12. Kidnapping for what? Money? The drug trade is estimated to be over $20 billion annually, no way in hell would kidnapping bring even one tenth of that in one year. Let along make it a steady source of income. What is the short-term downside to taking away half their revenue? Like I said before this 'war of drugs' has cost us over one trillion dollars and god knows how many lives on both sides. It's not working, it hasn't been working for decades. The cartels could care less about human lives and laws. All they want is money. Take their money away, or even better their ability to generate money and you will hurt them.
  13. This isn't about illegal immigration, if you really want to get to the gist of this problem it's drugs. Address this problem and you're on the right track. It doesn't matter if we spend hundreds of millions on border security, the cartels will find clever ways around that and they have billions and don't abide by the rule of law. We've spent over a trillion dollars fighting the war on drugs and looked where it's taken us. The WSJ had an article that stated the Mexican cartels get half their revenue from marijuana. I don't want to turn this into pot debate, but take the profit motive out of the drug trade. Legalize marijuana and move on. Hit 'em where it hurts, their wallets. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704254604574614230731506644.html
  14. Yeah there war war trials from 1946-1948 not as publicized as the Nuremburg trials though. To the OP, great freaking video.
  15. IMO it's a catch 22. If we don't deport them, they are in our legal system which we have to pay for. If we deport them, they go back with an 'education' they picked up while being in our jails. Look at what deporting MS13 members back to El Salvador has done for the gang. MS13 now is an international gang involved in everything from drug trafficing to gun running.
  16. I'm sure Spock never read Tocqueville, nor have you. It's easy for you so say that sacrifices must be made, when you're the one not making any of them. Are you familiar with majority rule and minority rights, one of the fundamentals of our democracy. If you're really that die hard against illegal immigration and labor why not vote with your wallet. Find out which industries or companies use the most illegal labor and either boycott them or make sure the products you buy or services you need are provided by legal documented workers.
  17. Whenever I see a story like this I think of this Mark Twain quote: "God made the Idiot for practice, and then He made the School Board."
  18. So you're okay with giving up some of your basic civil rights for a little sense of security? If so, which ones should we give up? Would you be okay with a cop pulling you over and asking for proof of citizenship and then being detained until proof was provided.
  19. I respect cops, they have one of the toughest jobs out there dealing with scumbags on a daily basis. They chose that profession and knew what they were getting into. Cracking under pressure is no excuse. If they can't deal with the pressure or the huge responsibility they have they shouldn't be cops.
  20. Ryanair sells extremely cheap flights. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. I read an interview with Ryanair's CEO and he basically said the same thing. Which I happen to agree with. It's like going to MacDonalds and expecting to be treated like you're at Morton's. If you're not happy with Ryanair buy your ticket somewhere else.
  21. The Harriers are sure noisy for their size. Aren't they also pretty dangerous planes. I saw a special on the Military Channel and they referred to them as "Widow Makers'".
  22. Lehman's ex-ceo was paid close to have a billion dollars over his tenure at the firm. His current net worth is well over a billion. I'm not justifying his actions, but it all boils down to greed. Most people IMO would compromise their morals when you're dealing with such huge amounts of money. Personally, I think the guy is a scumbag and should be in jail.
  23. I know a coach who uses them and they are very expensive, upwards of 1000 USD. I've seen a few that are around 300 + USD and are pretty bulky and would be useless inside the tunnel and on coach jumps.
  24. Like what? With opiates you run the risk of dependency and overdose. When was the last time a stoner overdosed and ended up in the ICU. And how hard is it to treat an opiate versus an MJ dependency. Some of the meds they use to treat nausea and hunger mgmt are also used to treat schizophrenia and have you read the side effects to those meds. I know marijuana has a negative stigma, but put that aside and try to look at it's medicinal value. Look at the pro's and con's of using it. If it works better and has minor side effects, then use it. If MJ could be used instead of Viagra and Cealis I doubt this thread would even exist, MJ would be labeled the new miracle drug and it would be legal in most if not all of the states. You said that there are far better ways of dealing with pain and hunger management. What are your suggestions.
  25. Has anyome ever flown in one of these tunnels and how do they compare to a Skyventure design?
