  1. You can say that again. W should stick to monosyllabic words.
  2. Have no fear, if the libs get their way they'll appoint lots of judges that believe it takes a village (big government) to raise a child. Have to love how you guys always attack the libs. FYI, the Judge who ruled on this case was appointed by your favorite lib back in 1994.
  3. I agree up to a point. I've had dogs all my life and I'm a firm believer in that it's how you raise them, but you have to agree that certain breed are more aggressive than others. That being said you have to raise them differently. Specific breed that are prone to aggression,e.g. Pits, German Shepards, Dobies, Akitas require an experienced dog owner.
  4. I agree with you here. Alcohol + guns is a bad idea. I have no problems with security carrying weapons but CCW in a bar, that is a recipe for disaster. I live by a pier is So Cal and every Friday and Sat night there are at least 5+ arrests or bar fights. In the workplace IMO it's up to the owner. Both sides have made good arguments about CCW in schools I would be willing to allow it if more stringent back ground checks are in place both for obtaining a weapon and getting a CCW permit. Cho should not have legall obtained those weapons. In 2005 a court deemed him to be a danger to himself and others. Why wasn't that available during the back ground check. Also why didn't authorities or the school monitor Cho between 2005 and 2007. Hopefully some good will come out of this tragedy rather than both sides pointing fingers and coming up with ridiculous laws.
  5. Agreed. This isn't a movie. Shoot outs get ugly, crossfire and friendly fire will happen. Despite the close combat scenario good aiming would still be an issue as well. Communication was poor and those untrained armed students would have been shooting anyone that had a gun in defense of their own life. So out of the concern that friendly fire might occur, you think it's preferable that only the crazed killer is armed? With the latter, we know there will be more fatalities. One thing I've noticed is that in discussions like these neither side is willing to compromise. You have to agree that Cho should have never had any access to guns. A doctor at a mental hospital stated that he was not only a threat to himself but to others, yet in March 07 he walked into a store and in less than 10 min walked out with a gun. The signs were there that this kid had some serious mental problems, was suicidal and had a track record of stalking people. Yet he still legally obtained a gun. There is a flaw in the system that needs to be addressed. Again I will say I'm not trying to take your guns away, although I'm sure some will make some asinine comments without looking at the heart of the issue. But you have to agree we have to keep guns away from people like Cho. Let me also state I also dont believe that taking guns away from law abiding citizens is the answer. Like I said before both sides have to compromise or else we should expect more Va Tech's in the future.
  6. Jeez calm down. I'm not advocating extreme gun control laws nor do I want to take your guns away. Just asking a simple question. No need to make such remarks.
  7. I'd pull it out only if there werre a definite need to use it, but that doesn't mean I have to pull the trigger at that exact moment. Please dont take this as a PA or me picking on you. But do you think you could safely defend yourself in such a situation, i.e., being mugged. You're pumped up on adrenaline, scared and God knows what is going on in your mind. Cops spend countless of hours training and retraining just to be able to control themselves in such situations and even then they make mistakes.
  8. When reading this post I thought of Office Space. I would just need one person: a computer super nerd. Then I would get a job at a hot shot bank/investment house. I would have my partner write a program in which every trade (stock, commodity) the bank/investment house makes it would take $0.25 and then puts it into a dummy account. At the end of each day I would have that account transfer the funds into a separate account. At the end of every week have a money transfer made to a bank overseas. Do this for a few months then disappear. Of course I would have used a fake identity for all this. Potential to make lots of money and dont even have to pick up a gun or harm anyone.
  9. Most don't have a degree. Well, that has been my experience, but I'm not making an exclusive statement. Very true. Would you also say that most people turn to the program because they cannot afford medical treatments. For example just checking the Betty Ford, a 30 day stay runs around 23K and 38k for a 90 day program.
  10. My A was around 2200 and that was 2 and a half years ago. I also included 15 min of tunnel time in that. The tunnel helped me out so much. Thats really cool that you and your son both got your As. Congrats.
  11. Oh yeah... here we go.. its all America's fault again....We supported the Shah Even still THEY broke all international codes of diplomacy when they attacked and took over our embassy... and took our people hostage.....realllly bad form for their "students" to do that. But on the flip side... I wonder if they still would have done it if they knew that millions of thier fellow countrymen would die as a fairly direct result of their actions. Every country denied the Shah assylm. Our embasador in Iran begged Carter not to let the Shah into the states. What did we do. We meddled in Iran's government for over 20 years. How would you feel if a foreign power over threw our current admin and installed a puppet goverment for the next 20+ years, took over half the revenues of our natural resources and tried to shove down our throats their ideals of life. Someone on DZ.com said the following and to me it sums up some of our foreign policy screw ups: dont stick your d%$k into a hornets nest and expect a blow job.
  12. The US invaded which other countries Embassy and took hostages in ANY conflict??????? THe Iranians through Hezbollah have attacked the US repeatedly and killed how many Americans? The Iranians have attacked Israel over and over....thru their shiite muslim stooges...YUP. sounds like such a wonderful peacel oving country. I have no sympathy for Iran, but please read up on your Iranian history. We, US and UK, have been real SOBs to this country. We overthrow a democratically elected prime minister because he wanted to take control of Irans oil reserve. Before we start pointing fingers at Iran and other nations we should really take a hard look at ourselves and our actions in other countries.
  13. How about this one? www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5C5c8uLWeo Oh man you beat me to it. That has to be one of my favorite commercials ever. Here's a little info on. http://www.curtsmedia.com/cine/1984.html They gave Scott $900,000 back in 1983 to make that commercial.
  14. Me too. Ever tried an oyster shooter? Next you go to your favorite sushi bar ask them to make you one.
  15. Talk to someone who is going through chemo and has to take several pills throughout the day or people that are going through HIV treatments. It's a lot easier to say pop a Marinol and you'll feel fine. My friend is undergoing his fourth treatment of chemo in less than 2 years and he constantly feels like crap. He pops god knows how many pills a day and youre asking him to take more. He cant eat cause of the terrible nausea he has. When he smokes the effect is almost immediate. He can at least eat something without wanting to throw up. One month he almost spent over 400 dollars on Marinol, keep in mind some of his chemo meds are more expensive. I say let him smoke MJ if it helps him. Who is he harming?
  16. Exactly. I still dont see why people are making such a huge deal about this. I swam in college and our coach had some weird rules. We had to follow them, period. You wanted to swim, you followed the rules. End of story.
  17. So you're in favor of allowing discrimination? I never said that. It's a private club and they can admit whomever they please. I think their policies are BS, but I'm not a member nor would I want to be one. Do you have a problem with private institutions having certain rules and guidelines?
  18. Exactly and if you dont like it go somewhere else. End of story. I really dont see a problem here. Look at Augusta National Golf Club. They didn't admit the first black member till 1990 and I think it's still an all mens golf club. Private club they can admit whomever they please.
  19. Yeah, Dan Perry is amazing and if he's not available ask for Randy Ashley. Both are amazing flyers and instructors. You can be a kick ass flyer but if you are not a good instructor it's useless. Both these guys are top notch.
  20. I'm having the same problem you are. I came across this article. Hope it helps. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.03/start.html?pg=15
  21. Does anyone know of a program I can use to convert a dvd, bunch of skydives, into MPEG format so I can load them up online? I have an intel mac and running OS X. Thanks in advance.
  22. I would at least ask for some reasons as to going to war. I would not blindly follow any fool that shakes a sabre and calls for war. Now if I was in the military different story, but being drafted into a war because some idiot made mistakes and scared the nation into going to war is BS. It's also your duty as a citizen to challenge any leader who threatens the nation.
  23. You mean by all his deceptive, back-stabbing measures to avoid service? So if there was a draft today woud you go. Would you blindly go w/o asking any questions as to the validty of this war, or motives behind it.
  24. I work in finance and we rarely if ever look at the Dow. It's only thirty securities and does not really indicate anything. The only reason it is well know is the marketing from Dow Jones. If you want an overall look at the health of an economy or the market look at a much broader index, e.g., Dow Jones Wilshire 5000. The only companies excluded frm this index are pink sheets. Also take a look at the MSCI indices.
  25. Actually the twin towers were some of the best buildings in the World. Period. Have you even considered the amount of energy those buildings withstood when a 767 slammed it them? Just for a moment try to understand the energy released by a plane that can weight anywhere between 305,000 lbs and 450,000 lbs traveling a few hundred miles an hour slamming into a building.
