  1. wow.. it really is true. skydivers DONT listen i wasnt talking about giving them dedicated coaching for free. all i was talking about was going out there and having fun with them. What is so hard to understand about this simple statement? sure, there's assholes out there that dont really understand the meaning of fun related to skydiving anymore, all they understand is being the best and being numbah one and all that other stuff, which is all gravy, but tends to intimidate and turn off fledging skydivers, such as me. The point of my post wasnt to advertise free coaching, but to just go out there, not to criticize and laugh at a newbie, but to go out there and have fun. No, you shouldnt prod and plead somebody to go jump with you, but maybe that newbie is just afraid that nobody wants to jump with them and doesnt want to deal with rejection. Maybe once you show them that not all experienced skydivers arent selfish "me me me" people, then they'll feel alot more confident in going out there and asking other people to jump and having a better time overall in the sport. *shrugs* but thats just me, and what could i POSSIBLY know, right?
  2. heyyyy i didnt know you were on here! cool. yeah i see this guy flying his gyro all the time around skydive houston. pretty sweet :)
  3. ahh thats cool i was just giving you a hard time. i still need to go up there sometime and check it out for myself. i've been saying that for quite some time now though havent i
  4. motherfucker!!! *bangs head on table*
  5. hmmm.. well i dont bother sublimating anything. i just take care of bidness. when i get bored of taking care of business i reach out and call someone, like i did last night. AHHH. i feel much better, thank you
  6. hahahahahahaha *choke choke* hahahahaha sorry. i just got a visual of a guy standing in a plane wearing a protec, gloves, socks, shoes, and underwear saying I'm ready to make a skydive!!! i'd buy some goggles if i were you.. maybe an altimeter if you can swing it.
  7. stealing customers from skydive houston, huh? hmm i seem to remember something like this but vice versa a couple months ago.
  8. $15 bucks to altitude in our super duper otter at Skydive Houston. BOOYEAH!
  9. thats absolutely true. i do not by any means jump exclusively with newbies. No way! i'd never improve if i did that. But if i have nothing else to do, i'd rather go jump with somebody that would really have fun rather then go jump with some old tired guy that's done 50 billion skydives and seen it all before.
  10. hey, wanna be my creditor... pal? yeah John's a cool guy, i think he's so used to arguing things that everything he says comes out sounding argumentative.
  11. hey, very well put! you put what i was trying to say into words much better then i did
  12. actually, houston is worthless unless you're like over 25. i wanna find a place where young fellas like me are in vogue. and no, i cant afford a "big road trip". but.. so? if there's a will there's a way. besides, my car gets like 30-40 mpg so i can go quite a ways on not much moola.
  13. this is what i posted for, so that people straight off student status would know that there ARE people that are willing (and crazy enough) to jump with you, for free, and just to have fun.
  14. uhh this isnt the LAST road trip i ever wanna take. but sounds... interesting. better take alot of bribe money.
  15. woah woah. this thread is NOT about brittany at all, she's a bad ass skydiver, AND a bad ass person to boot. anybody that has ever met her knows this. Yes, me and her have discussed this and she sees things a lil' differently, but thats all. I in no way was trying to slam her or anybody else in particular. like i said, if your only source of income is from skydiving, thats different. then its a job. but if you have a regular job and can actually afford to skydive, why not help others. THAT's what i was trying to say. sorry if it came out sounding otherwise. all i was trying to say was that maybe as we advance in this sport, we shouldnt lose sight of where we started, and how we felt at that point. i personally hope i never lose sight of that, and that people will always feel like they can come to me if they cant afford to pay for a coach jump. i might not be great or anything, but if nothing else i'll go out there and laugh at you. i'm there to have fun, and i do my best to make it fun for everybody in the air with me. and i do a pretty damn good job i think
  16. i think i "sprung" a rib, but i dunno.. i jumped 11 times and it didnt really bother me that bad.. it hurt but the adrenaline over ruled it. i will tell you what tho, if i lay down on my back tears start to come to my eyes and i cannot even move at all. i was at the dz and decided to lay down on my back and i couldnt even breathe, i had to ask somebody to help me up. haha.
  17. nice suggestion, D.C is definitely bad ass, i love the smithstonians, but unfortunately i've already been there like 5 times. Georgetown is also pretty sweet.. (my cousin went there)
  18. EXACTLY. some people say well if you want to get good in this sport you have to pay for coaching and thats just how it is in this sport. Bullshit. thats not the way i think it should be. but like what i think means anything . but regardless, i'm going to continue to jump with low timers, i actually told my friends that if i ever get big headed, to pop my bubble because thats not the way i want to be. I spent WAY more money then i should have this past weekend, and to be honest with you, i cannot afford it. but i do it because i want to, and because i really enjoy feeling like i made a difference.
  19. *beeping multiple times* amen. *beep* i love the comaradrie of SCR's... the joy of seeing somebody make their first 8 way formation...... SCREW IT i just like to pour beer!!
  20. i feel like packing up and bailing the fuck out of this worthless town for a bit. I've traveled just about everywhere in the U.S., from california to washington to maine to florida. and everywhere in between. this will be a road trip, so start posting some ideas for cool places for me to go. most likely i'll have already been there but who knows.
  21. you know, i was just thinking about my weekend, i did a couple of jumps with this really cool guy named chris, he's got about 30 jumps, and whenever i'm not jumping with anybody or if i see him going up alone i'll ask him if he wants to do a jump together. Now, i know i only have like 100 jumps, but i still remember coming right off student status like it was yesterday.. well it practically was but anyway, it was hard to find people to jump with because i was scared to ask anybody and then fuck up a jump and waste their time and money. So i decided that when i got all growed up i was going to do everything i can to jump with low timers to try to teach them whatever i can and try to make skydiving as fun as possible for them. There's alot of lame ass people out there that only want to jump with people as "bad ass" as them or, they will only jump with them if the low timer pays for them. I dont think thats what this sport should be about. It should be about making friends and having fun in the air. It shouldnt be about reputations and being bad ass or making money, unless you're a dz bum and have nothing else. *shrugs* just felt like talking about it a little, it made me feel good when he came up to me at the end of the day and said thanks for being so friendly, he said that me and a few other people were the only people that had really been friendly to him and made efforts to jump with him. Although i know thats life, wouldnt it be cool if everybody would just jump with everybody, screw the standards, screw being cool, just have fun and be safe.
  22. hahahaha now THAT sounds like an awesome way to spend a windy day.
  23. yeah the 4 line kites rock!!! if the winds pick up they can really pull you all over the place. lol.
  24. 1:11:1 1 something, and no not a hump. 11 jumps, had some bad ass jumps and a whole lot of fun! owe beer for hitting my 100th.
  25. hmm.. i'd say 2 slices of papa john's and some cookies and cream ice cream was the lowest i've ever gone in food consumption for breakfast. (but it was mmm mmm good!!) . and i STILL cant gain weight!!
