  1. Do you mean the stirup for the bootie? It's been a few years since I ordered a new suit, but both my jumpsuits have stirups. Yes, it appears the Majik suit does not come with them. However, many people don't want them sooo just ask if you like them added. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  2. Got it. I does do a nice job of showing the blocks. Some good info for someone that wants to study technique(s). "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  3. I love my Majik suit. The booties in particular. The one thing I would suggest is having Bev ad a stirup to the suit, as i don't think the majik suit comes with them. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  4. Or it could just be that short of a fatality people disagree with you on the value of posting in DZ.com. Honestly I find it a bit arrogant of you to think that the rest of us should see the world the way you do. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. 5. Cool. I've got one on order! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  6. So I was flipping through Skydiving last night and noticed the Knights recently put out a “free” DVD showing all the randoms and blocks in the 2005 dive pool. The disc is supposed to be available from the Knights and from ‘major gear dealers’. So does anyone have an idea how to actually get this disc? "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. 7. Nicely said. I do believe currency is highly correlated with skill but you have to give credit to people that have been around a long time for "knowledge" or maybe more accurately "wisdom". 8. Well, “running” out a few landings is not uncommon particularly on no wind days. However, most novice jumpers try and start running WAY too soon. A proper flair will allow the canopy to burn off most of its forward speed before you ever need to put a foot down. One of the hardest things I learned about landing a canopy was patience, patience in flying the canopy until the ground hit my feet, not my feet reaching for the ground. It will come with time…pretty well once you get tired of trying to run landings out and figure out that you have to “finish” the flair at the end to burn off all the canopy’s speed you can. 9. Hey, I had something between fear and panic my first 50 jumps. I had 2 or 3 jumps this past weekend, where I was getting into position in the door and though, “what the hell am I doing?”!?!?” and got a tinge of fear. It’s perfectly normal. It’s funny though. I find once I’m out the door, the fear goes away. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  10. Wow, I’m glad it worked out okay. I was visiting Elsinore about a year ago and had a similar but less intense experience. I was in the saddle at about 2,200ish. I had a very unusual opening, in fact I thought I was having a mal. I didn’t see anything wrong but it was the most unusual opening I had to date. I released my breaks and flew out of the turbulence very carefully. I landed that canopy like a scared kitten. I sat down the rest of the day. Several people on the jump reported similar issues on opening. There were a number of dust devils reported in the area after we landed. I presume a dust devil can’t go that high per se, but I wold guess it could cause some funky air well above it. Scary stuff. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. 11. Whoa! There is a lot going on here. And I apologize up front if I come across as caustic on this one… but I’ll have to chime in as one of the people saying that a person with 29 jumps should not be doing an 8 way. Moreover, on an 8 way, after 1,000 feet of tracking (from 4,500 to 3,500) two experienced jumpers were within 30 yards of each other AND on top of a person who went low? What was the problem with the tracking and awareness skills of those two jumpers? The two experienced jumper should have traveled at least 100 yards away from the center of the formation after 5 seconds of tracking, which on an 8 way should put them about 80 yards away from each other, at minimum, assuming 45 degrees of separation. Why were they so close? And why did they not know where the low man was? Why did the LO think it was a good idea for such a low timer to be on an 8 way to begin with? And if it was going to be done, why was it not planed such that the low timer was the base that everyone went to, and then pulled in the center (assuming no camera)? Putting a 29-jump person into an 8 way is a bad idea to begin with but then expecting them to track away is an even worse idea. The low timer opening at 3,500 feet is not an issue; that is a perfectly acceptable opening alt. for someone with that number of jumps. His only mistake was being on the load to begin with. It’s hard for a low timer being invited on a load like that to refuse but you’ve got to know your limits. I’m glad we didn’t read about this in the incidents section. 12. I always guessed birds didn't fly that high? But I don't really know how high birds do fly? It's a funny one but that could have been bad. I;m glad it ended well. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  13. I'm visiting New York on business on Monday the 27 and thought about taking a few days on Tuesday and Wed to do some jumping. Which DZ is more accessible from the city and which will have more activity? Looking at the web pages the Ranch doesn’t open until noon whereas XKeys opens at 9:00. Is this an indication that the Ranch won't have much activity on weekdays? Any input is appreciated. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. 14. I know a few guys that refuse to jump them anymore after several bag locks in a short number of jumps. It's a bad feeling to throw out your PC and have nothing happen. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  15. 550 jumps loading a Sabre 2, 170 at 1.2 to 1. I’ll jump this canopy through the season, which will put me at 800+ jumps. Then I might downsize to a Sabre 2, 150 loaded at a 1.35 to 1 for another 400 or 500 jumps, which would put me at about 1,300 jumps. I have watched too many people die or horribly injure themselves to be in a rush to downsize. I can land my canopy within 10 meters of where I want to every time, in any conditions, downwind, in a tight spot, at higher than normal MSL from my home DZ, on hot days, and at new dropzones where I don’t have good visual “way points” in my mind. I can fly it in tight traffic and use all the controls available. I like being able to land it safely where I want every time in any conditions. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. 16. Either open face or full face is okay. However, a full-face helmet is a VERY good idea for serious RW. I’ve personally wacked a few of my friends in the face with a knee doing 4 way. A full face will provide a lot more protection! Personally, there is no way I’d let anyone spin a 360 two inches from my face with me wearing an open face helmet. 17. Whoa! The SCM says nothing about the breakoff being “no higher” than 3,500 feet! It says: A. The intent of these breakoff procedures is to ensure that safety requirements and responsible, cooperative conduct are followed by teams and videographers. B. Breakoff altitude 1. 4-Way—3,500 feet 2. 8-Way, 10-Way, and 16-Way—4,000 feet I think most reasonable people would construe this to mean no LOWER than 3,500. As the SIM does for container opening altitudes, etc. As for the original posters question, from a 10,500 exit the 35 seconds is up at 5,000 (please do the math yourself to prove it out) so for a rookie team a breakoff of 4,500 is just fine in competition and especially in training. If this is where you feel safe then talk to people and stick to your guns about it! Remember guys we are talking about a low timer here and presumably a low time team, breaking higher and pulling a little higher is a good thing for them right now Personally my 4 way team breaks at 4,000 on training dives but at 4,500 in competition. Hell the dive is long since over and given we are frequently at other DZ’s with swamps, etc to navigate if you land off I’d rather have 500 feet of canopy ride than 2.5 seconds of freefall with no scoring opportunity. 19. I sustained an injury as a teenager when I ate french-fries getting my fingers greasy and then picked up a bowling ball. It hit my foot sparing the floor from any damage. The manager of the bowling alley was rather disproving. Hmm, I wonder if my hands will slip off my hack if I eat french-fries at the DZ???? So someone tell me about this cards thing? 20. I had one crack when I tightened the screws too tight. I emailed L&B and then shipped me one for free right away. Hell they even included a couple of spare batteries for free. 21. With over a year off a recurrency jump with an instructor will almost certainly be required. After that you’re probably fine. Call your local DZ and ask. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP

  23. Well I would not call "The Sun" actual 'news'. Here are a few other hard hiting headlines of ‘news’ from the Sun. “BUSTY housemate Lesley gets the hump over Max's rap about her flashing her boobs” “SCHOOLGIRL knifes her friend during fight over a ball at barbecue” “GANG attack 60-year-old after she refuses to give them a cigarette” "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. 24. Jump # Date Location Freefall time Commutative freefall time Canopy type and size Plane Exit altitude Landing target accuracy (very important for licensees) Also, for some licenses and for good general record keeping how many people were on the jump and what type of skydive it was, e.g., 12 way star, donut "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. 25. I used to have nagging neck, back and shoulder pain from skydiving; I hurt for a week form doing 8 or 10 jumps in a weekend. I started stretching and weight lifting regularly, lost some weight and maintain better general health. I can now do 20 jumps in a weekend and feel great on Monday! My mentor makes a clear point that he stretches 20 minutes every day and lifts weights 5 times a week. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded.
