  1. You were supposed to say "yeah , yeah that's it, I was doing CReW. Wanna see my line burns?"
  2. This one says it! Neither is better than the other. I am always in the mood for both
  3. Wow! I started on October 5th and now I have 22 jumps - 3 to go!. Think you will hit 100 this year?
  4. I only have a 240 lb exit weight and one of my early levels I averaged 141 mph. My AFF/I had one of the altimeters that records fall rates and he showed me that at one point I was falling 149 mph just by arching! He told one of the other instructors he had to work to keep up with me. Bet you could fall faster.
  5. I have three Sunset jumps now and I think they are my favorite too. Awesome veiw
  6. As mad as I would have been I have to agree. I jumped on a windier day than I should have at my home DZ and misjudged my 100 ft mark, well needless to say I landed behind the buildings right into the turbulence and got slammed on the ground pretty hard. Afterward I was kinda wishing I had just kept my feet on the ground for that one.
  7. Definitely having a hard time thinking and talking about anything else other than skydiving. Non-Skydiving friends? What non- skydiving friends? I lost them all. And yet, I have no shortage of new friends. Must be something in the air . . . ha ha ha Neither will you.
  8. Congrats, maybe this week I will be able to join ya. 3 more to go
  9. Hey welcome back to the sky. Out of curiosity do you let your wife pack for ya too.
  10. Hey what a coincidence! I am notpaul too! Never thought I would meet another one!. Welcome to the forums.
  11. Welcome to DZ and welcome to the playground. You'll like it here cause no-one wants to take their ball and go home.
  12. I jump at Aerohio just south of Clevelend Ohio.
  13. This is the funniest damn thread ever (except for the fact that someone is getting bruised.) My first three jumps were all on the same day and the thirdone hurt so bad people on the ground heard me scream My thighs were black and blue from front to back. In fact on one of the first three, the pad came out from under the slasp and it pinched me through the jump suit and my pants. Left a big blood blister. The next week I tightened the straps more and it helped a lot, but the student gear definitely does not fit well. I have jumped 8 of the 18 student rigs and I found the one that fits me best and so I go early and grab it before anyone gets there. That has totally cured the problem. Fit and snug. That is how to avoid the bruising.
  14. You have heard to most important, Relax always relax, smile it will help you relax and Pull. What si the number one most important thing you can do on this skydive? Pull. Oh yeah and Relax and enjoy the trip.
  15. Out-Stinkin-Standing! Very funny. I failed level 10 and repeated it. Twice. My AFF/I said and I quote, "That was really weak." Only after I asked him how bad was it, no really how bad.. Definitely not a natural here.
  16. Yep you are right. Spoke to a friend this weekend and he said that I had bad a memory problem. They were in fact t-10's and they were nylon. What the hell do I know? Apparently nothing.
  17. As a person going through the new AFF progression I can tell you that the coached jumps definitely count towards the "formation jumps" and that we cannot jump with anyone but coaches or AFF/I's. (This is not meant to negate what Phreezone said, because I do not know about that, but I am inclined to believe he would know better than me) Barring the waver by the S&TA however, the above is true. My DZ has a 25 jump course designed to get you your A lisence when you are finished. Infact I only have two things left to do on my card, the winds aloft forcast and um . . . oh yeah . . . get 25 jumps! 3 to go!!!! And yes this is definitely more expensive than the old system (from what people tell me) but I like it. I am learning more than I would have before and doing it in less jumps.
  18. First flight in a plane and you did not have to land with it! Sweet! There is a guy in my DZ who has flown 100 times and never landed in a plane. May you be as lucky as him.
  19. Same here, Saturday was a total bust - ceiling at 800 and visibility less than half a mile and then I tried to go today but when I went to put gas in the car my ATM card broke and I could not get to the DZ only to have the day turn georgeous! ARrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!! Now I gotta work all week. Oh well, next weekend is my hope now. 3 to go for A lisence. Fun!
  20. QuoteOver 40 times -- at night, with combat gear, at less altitude than most would even dream about! I was with ANGLICO when I was in the Marines and we jumped every chance we could get. I actually lost count. Sometimes we did it just to do it. And man some of them truly were low! I think the plane was scraping treetops once. I know I would not open my main that low now. Of course I was not hit 149 mph either! NO MORE ROUNDS FOR ME!
  21. Well AggieDave, My first jump was October 5th of this year and my first post was October 7th of this year. (Man I really must have been addicted from the first jump - eeks). Since then I have logged 22 jumps and over 50 posts. My goals for this year are to finish my A lisence (hopefully this weekend). And then this December go to the Collegiate Nationals and compete in Lake Wales Florida. Should be fun even if I am going to suck. Next Year I want to get into RW and Freefly. I hope to get better at judging when to flare my landings so I do not wack myself anymore. Oh yeah want to get my own rig Next five years? I would like to have over 1000 jumps by my 5th jump b-day. By then maybe I will be ready for swooping. Man you swoopers make that look fun. And maybe become a rigger. We shall see. Oh yeah for this year I hope to actually sit-fly rather than sit-n-spin!
  22. I jumped a bunch of rounds when I was in the Marines but that was over ten years ago. I am pretty sure that they were silk. I had several water landings and I do not recall them ever drying them out. I know one time I jumped a rig that I knew had been wet and packed wet because it was still damp when I gathered it up and it did smell funny. But we did land in a cow pasture and I took some in the face so maybe I was not smelling properly. Hmm maybe I am not qualified to answer this question. Shutting up now.
  23. Why don't we just pay our DZ pilots to fly us where we want and we can jump right out over our destination! Think of it, no security checks, no baggage claim, no lost luggage (unless of course you choose to ship it via USPS before you leave. Yikes you see what THEY do to packages?). You just pack everything into a nice tight pack and carry military style. Or aim really really well. I can see it now, "Yeah Mom I will be there sometime between 4 and 4:15. Turn the 2-way on incase I miss the house and need a ride."
