  1. Every year thousands of animals are neglected or abandoned. Sponsors of the Animal Rescue website will provide food at no charge to feed animals who end up in shelters. The amount of food purchased is relative to the number of people who click on the "Feed an Animal in Need" button. It costs you nothing, but is an invaluable resource for those organizations who strive to provide a better life and future for these little critters that have been dealt a raw deal. I've saved the website to my favorites and try to click on it everyday. http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/CTDSites.woa Hope you will too. Blues, Teresa
  2. She's a pretty amazing kid, she cracks me up sometimes, she'll moan and groan about having to walk around in the grocery store, yet she'll do a 1K, no problem. Bump.
  3. I agree with the statement that you can work out an arrangement without lawyers. The key is that the both of you have to always remember that the child comes first. Put aside your grievances and personal issues with each other and refocus on this innocent little kid that has nothing to do with the breakup of the relationship. With that in mind working together will be alot easier.
  4. Where is this coming from? I care very much about the integrity of a man who proposes to become leader of the free world.
  5. It took 30 minutes to resuscitate her and she suffered brain damage resulting in cerebral palsy. She's one of the lucky ones though because it only affected her legs. She uses a walker most of the time, reserving the chair for long distances and when she's wearing her mermaid costume. She's getting stronger though and ran in the Fertile Hope Kids 1K on February 1st. There are pictures here: http://www.kreutzphotography.com/, but you'll have to dig for them. She was the last one over the finish line but she finished! You can find her on the last page of the "Fertile Hope Kids K Finish".
  6. Mine came from an Iggy Pop and the Stooges song called Gimme Danger. The line: "Gimme danger little stranger and I'll fill you with peace", defined how I feel about skydiving. I'm finally at peace with myself.
  7. Mine is a pastel painting I did of my daughter Zoe in the tub. Damn that kid's cute!
  8. Hi Ron, Yeah, you've got quite a reputation for expressing your rather sharp opinions on safety issues. Having been on the receiving end I can attest to that, ouch! Fortunately for me I understand your motivation is because you actually give a damn. That's why your interest in the March of Dimes doesn't surprise me. You quoted some statistics about why the March of Dimes' efforts are so important. As someone that has benefitted from the research and development they have done over the years I'd like to put a personal perspective on why supporting this organization is so critical. My daughter Zoe is one of those preemies that wouldn't be here today without the artificial surfactant and high frequency oscillating ventilator they developed. Zoe was born 12 weeks premature. Her lungs were severely underdeveloped because of the premature rupture of the amniotic sac seven weeks earlier. The artificial surfactant, which is naturally occurring in full term babies, kept her lungs from sticking together as the oscillator pumped 600 tiny breathes a minute to gradually expand her walnut sized lungs. Without the efforts of the March of Dimes her chances of survival would have been zero. Today Zoe is a vibrant little seven year old who makes an impact on everyone who meets her. She loves hanging out with her buddies at SSM and can't wait to do her first skydive. So Ron, to bring things full circle, your posts, brutal as they may seem on the surface can only help all of us skydivers to become better at the sport we love, and might keep us alive long enough to see this kid graduate AFF. Blues, Teresa
  9. My issue was a slow turn to the left when I tracked due to one leg being slightly bent at the knee. Several coaches worked with me on a creeper, transitioning from the arch to track position, over and over...this seems to have solved my problem, and it feels natural to me now. It's alot cheaper than tunnel time!
  10. Brains, keep that thought. My first tandem was a gift, not the jump itself, but the fact that it opened a door for me. I will never, ever look at life the same again. For every 10 or so hungover frat boys you take up, your going to take up someone like me that will be forever grateful to you. Erik Santee, you rock! Blue Skies, Teresa
  11. This is very good news! Communication was a real problem for me when I bought a refurbished Dell with Windows Professional, couldn't run alot of my software. They were pretty cool about letting me switch the operating system to Windows ME, but talking to the fellow in India was a nightmare. Ended up telling him I can't understand a word you're saying and hung up. Trick was to keep calling until you got someone in Tennesee! Today, I own two Dell's, and when I have a problem I just go to the website and everything I need is there, they have my service tag numbers on file, so I don't need to worry about what hardware I have. I was able to completely reformat and partition my harddrive when my son downloaded something funky from the internet once. Dell is definitely the way to go. Glad they're bringing jobs back to the USA.
  12. Oh yeah, and how about their version of Iggy Pop's Gimme Danger! I also like Helmet's Driving Nowhere, it's the background music on my first skydive video, totally fits.
  13. Ditto. Greatest. Country. Ever. Canada 3yrs Germany 3yrs Okinawa, Japan 2yrs
  14. Parents are pretty awesome aren't they? My Mom and Dad gave me the money for AFF...pretty cool huh! Speaking of...I owe them a call. Blues.
  15. So, not only do you have a heart full of hate, but you're a racist as well.
  16. Gee Sue, You must be one of the masses of Californians that inundated Austin during the tech boom, raised our cost of living, then ran like rats from a sinking ship when the bottom fell out. "Glad to see you go, go, go, go, goodbye!" -The Ramones Leave Home
  17. With 20 jumps, your a virtual veteran compared to me! Don't let it stop you from having a HELLacious good time! Halloween comes but once a year. And as far as Chad's warning, well... Littlestranger
  18. I wanted to take my packing class while I was healing from a broken bone, but my packer recommended waiting until I was back in the air and closer to the end of my progression. It made sense because I can apply what I've learned to actual packing and there's less chance of forgetting anything. As far as taking a huge amount of time to learn to pack, God I hope so, because my life is depending on it.
  19. I broke my ankle on Labor Day, and will be jumping again on Halloween for the first time since. I have to repeat my level 4 jump and take a refresher ground school. At first I was a little upset about going backwards, but as I get closer to 'the day', I'm glad my JM is looking out for me. I also thought about doing 4 and 5 together since the only difference is 90 degree vs. 360 degree turns, but after some consideration I realized it's going to be stressful enough just getting out of the plane. Heal fast!
  20. My favorite skydive was my first tandem. What did I do? Absolutely NOTHING! OMG it was so much fun, my adrenaline was so high I couldn't drive home. I think I was buzzing for a week. I can't wait until AFF is over and I can get that feeling back! I'm definitely an adrenaline junkie, and skydiving is such an easy fix, albeit an expensive one!
  21. Rick and I will both be there. It's gonna be SO MUCH FUN! I'll be jumping for the first time in two months on Halloween day, so I should have a nice adrenaline buzz going for Saturday! Blues!
  22. Glad your having so much fun! I had a pretty hard opening on my level 4 that resulted in a line twist, (that was fun!). I totally think the reason is because my leg straps weren't tight enough. Just want to add...don't hesitate to bug your jumpmaster about ANYTHING. That's what he's there for. Weekends are pretty crazy at most dropzones, but you should be able to hook up with him later via e-mail or phone. Blue Skies and Soft Landings.
  23. Wow! You've been busy! I've still got a minimum of 2 weeks before I jump again, but I'll be ready for HALLOWEEEEEN!! See you then. Blue Skies, T.
  24. Why don't you come down and visit and I'll introduce you! LOL!
