Well, after spending 8 days in ICU at the VA in Birmingham this last week I've decided that I've got a love/hate relationship with the Veteran's Hospital. The treatment a veteran can recieve can be horrible or great, depending on which place you are in and how your attitude is. I tried to keep a good attitude but sometimes it's hard to do that when you are flat on your back with tubes sticking out of every orifice in your body and can't do anything for yourself. I got really good treatment up to the point where I couldn't do anything for myself and then got frustrated and took it out on anyone that got near me. I guess we all have to learn some things for ourselves. All in all, keep a good head on your shoulders and try to be a good patient and things work well. It all worked out good in the end and I'm now back home after a couple of good scares and can only say this about the experience. I owe my life to some good people who work very hard for very little money to keep this nation's Veterans healthy and alive. I thank them all every day now and plan on contributing a little time to our guys laying in hospitals after the things that put them there. Hey, just a little praise for those people, guys. They do a good job with what little the government gives them to work with. Remember that the next time you pass a VA hospital and think of the guys laying up there with missing limbs and body parts that were sacrificed for all of us. Naa, I just needed something to donate to the food bank and these were so cheap that I thought I'd use them as a gift for the food bank. Of course, the thought you implanted helped a bit, I must say, lol. I try to make a habit of donating to the food bank at least once a month and I found that I can go to this little auction and sometimes get pretty good deals on canned food products but this time the candy was all they had. I just scored 6 cases of "Coulson's Mint Truffles", made in NSW, Australia, at an auction for pennies ($.60 USD). I opened a box and found them pretty good. There is no price printed on the boxes. My question is this - How much are they worth and are they popular in Australia? I've never heard of them before and was wondering if anyone from "Down Under" could identify them and could give me any information about them? if necessary, I can take a pic and post it. Believe me, I read it all. You didn't state that you were in the house or that you had a spare key. You also didn't state that you had a laptop with wireless connection with you. Amber, I lost a Cocker Spaniel a little over a year ago. He died in my arms, of old age (16), very peacefully. I asked my pastor (40 years at the same church) what happens to pets when they pass on and will we ever be united. He told me that if they weren't in heaven when we get there, IT WOULDN'T BE HEAVEN. So, rest assured that the cat (I didn't see his/her name) will be waiting to cross the bridge with you when your time comes.
