I can't say if Jacko is guilty, of course, but KFI 640 (L.A.) reported that he would have been arrested, if home. So, it seems there must be some evidence. The guy has previously admitted to allowing his boy friends to spend the night... in his bed. So, IMO, we already know that he doesn't know what appropriate behavior is. It's very likely that his vast fortune... and his cronies have protected him... so far... maybe not for much longer. You're absolutely right. She had a crazy childhood with her mother and aunt and their bad relationships/drug use. The idea of the police being called because of family fighting would be a foreign language to my family, so it's hard for me to understand. I want to tell her, HELLO, ISN"T THIS SO OBVIOUS TO YOU?? MOVE ON! You made me understand that she is almost like an addict herself. So, the messages we're sending might not get through. She has to come to that realization herself. She is going to counseling, and I hope she finds the answers. The sucky thing is she also has friends & family that are "codependent," if you will, saying things like "pray on it." Actually, I agree with you. I didn't really want to write this character letter. Other friends wrote them... it seems they have this attitude that being an addict is an excuse. I don't think it always is. But DeNReN is right... an email response may not have been the best way, but it's the best way for me to express myself. Verbally is not. My best friend of 16 years has been in a volatile relationship... the kind in which makes people shake their heads, but my friend won't end it/move on and won't listen to logic from the sensible people in her life. The guy went back to jail for drugs, and my friend said she would not take him back if this happened... And whatdayaknow... She asked me to write a letter of character for his parole board. I did... and she sent me an email complaining about the letter being too brief. Believe me... this guy has done plenty of really awful things while on drugs. I was furious and emailed her back reminding her of these things and her promise not to take him back and how can she say this misery is love, etc, etc. The email was extensive and harsh (but with some toughlove) but long overdue. Unfortunately, she didn't get my email until after she had called to apologize for hers. Since she got my email, she hasn't called me back, and I think this may have adversely affected our relationship. I hope just not irreconcilably. It makes me mad and sad... I don't lie, steal, and screw over my friend, yet she gets mad at me because I don't coddle her guy that does those things to her. Thanks for letting me vent. It's my understanding that a lot of skydivers move on to BASE because it's more of a rush. My friend who has nearly 500 skydives tried BASE once. The first time I saw the video I thought it was insane. But, this was before I had skydived. I used to think that was insane, too . I am still a newbie at skydiving, but now I could see if I kept jumping I might want to try BASE one day... maybe. I'm nearly a hundred jumps away from my 100th , but I'll put in my two cents anyway. I was thinking about doing a video for my AFF8, but my friend suggests I wait until a big "one" like the 100th jump. So that's my suggestion... maybe do a fun video with some friends then a party at the end of the jump day. I agree that having your daughter taken around to different families sucks... although as adults we still go through this. IMO, I think if your daughter is 11, you should speak with her about this situation. She probably doesn't want to go a strange new family either. If she doesn't want to go, fight it. I understand how you feel. It takes me a while to warm up to people. In my experience, sometimes being shy at first can unwillingly offend people. If you were called back for a second interview, you probably don't have much to worry about. I agree with the advice to mention that you're shy at first... and also mentioning skydiving to kids would be a great warm up. You'll be their superhero!
