  1. QuoteI have an Hawkeye LT and I installed a cutaway on the side. I can release both in just one move. I was just curious if you could chop the helmet in one move. How did you install a cutaway to do both at the same time? Do you have any pics? I want to make sure my helmet has a backup, and I want to be safe at the same time. I was curious about the cutaway system. PJ
  2. It happened! I lost my Hawkeye with vid and stills on opening after a tandem video jump. Im not sure how it came off. I did find the helmet. It landed in some soft grass/mud yard. I found it with one of the straps on the side unfastened. We watched the vid and thought maybe one of two things happened, riser slapped the quick release, or my hand did while waving off. Has anyone else ever lost a helmet that has the same type of fastening mechanism as the hawkeye with chin cup? PJ
  3. I think BPSC in lincon only has a cessna. I think until they get a bigger plane, they will cater to students and tandems. That doesnt make much more room for experieced jumpers unless you are doing solos But dont quote me on that! Jumptown in Orange MA is flying a twin otter. We have RW and Freefly organizers almost every weekend. There are more than a few Birdpeople on the DZ. Jumptown is open Friday-Sunday, and soon to add Thurdays. Jumptown is a great place to jump. Im not biased If you are visiting the area, you gotta come check us out. www.jumptown.com PJ
  4. Im thinking of buying a used Panasonic WJ-AVE7. I have never seen or used one before. I do tandem vid at my DZ. Wanted to get a feel if its a good piece of equipment. I dont do much fancy stuff with the vids. just real time editing with some freezing and fading. Anyone still using this? Any info is helpful. Thanks PJ
  5. Am I on the video? (I was on doublespocks footage) Edited to add: You bastard, you didn't throw in our room jump!! Hey man, I only supplied the footage. There was a few good things he missed But overall, its a good movie. Cant wait to get my hands on the DVD. I think he is selling copies
  6. Smoke my Blunt Try my DZ Where's my rig
  7. 6 days jumping 42 jumps. My second day of jumping I only did 3 due to the free beer the 1st night On my last day jumping, I made 10 jumps. That is now my personal high for jumps in a day Balloon jump was sweet too. PJ
  8. I got an awesome idea. If noone looks at the weather and just think it will be warm and sunny, it will be. I dont want alot of negative energy to be given to the weather gods. Its gonna be warm, clear skies, maybe a few puffies, and the surf will be up. See everyone in a couple days. PJ
  9. And for all of you that still dont have tickets, stop slackin. This boogie looks like it's gonna be off the hook! Its only money, it's meant to be spent (esspecially on this boogie) I cant wait!
  10. Because I live in the northeast, and although my Dropzone stays open in the winter, I jumped my ass offthis season. Its cold and windy anyways. Im saving my money for the Dropzone.com Boogie! PJ
  11. ... but no flying carrots seen here up until NOW! (that's obviously not me in the suit) I thought that looked like your suit Nik. You are a flying carrot. Cant wait to flock in Eloy at the DZ.com boogie. PJ
  12. I set mine at 5,4,3 on freefly jumps. I like to have control of my canopy by 3k, so I ususally pull at 3500. If it flat lines at 3 it will continue untill impact if noting done. So I like to set the flatline for just under my normal pull altitude. I once set the flatline for 1500ft. I realized it would be more cautious to beef up my own hard deck. At least on full altitude freefly dives
  13. You need to chase tequila with meatballs. Thats right, meatballs! I dont know how it started, but a couple of us started doing tequila shots, and chasing them with these mini meatballs at our DZ Halloween party. It sounds pretty gross, I know, but you gotta try it. One bite into a hot, saucy, meatball, you forget you even had a shot. Until the morning Mike, you know who you are, thanks man. That was some funny shit. PJ
  14. QuoteSeveral of the people I jump with mix free-flying with RW - so I tried to get the sit down this weekend. I did OK on HD, but my sit was terrible - until the last 2K' of the fall where for some reason unknown to me, I just happened to find myself sitting?!?!? Why would it be easier to sit at a lower altitude than on the exit at 18K and flip/flop/spin uncontrollably for the first 10K'? Or is this just me? I can't say for sure about the effect of the high altitude. Ive never been up higher than 15k. I would think it would not be much different, if any. It s all about how you present to the relative wind. As far as learning to freefly, everyone is differnt but, I'd reccommend getting a stable sitfly down 1st before trying the headdown. Its real easy to zoom around and cover alot of sky. It good to be able to flip to a solid sit, where you can close the levels and proximity, then flip back on head and try again. Two ways is the best place to start.
  15. I share your opinion that people should train their belly skills first to a degree where one can rely on them beeing able to hold level, track and have a general sense for where people are around them. This "Radar" is more easily buildt on "slower", 2D dives while increasing the number of people around... Of course, proper separation procedures need to be learned prior to any multi-way, be it FF or RW! I agree. Although I started freflying right after AFF. Im sure on my 1st solo dive I was trying to sit at some point. Actually, my 100th or 200th dive I think was a HD coaching type thing. But........... On somewhere around 40-50 jumps I went sitflying with an experienced Head down flyer. Everything was fun and cool while i was trying to sit in an RW suit. Untill at about 4500 ft when my friend broke off, I figured it was was too fun to stop. Seeing him tracking away did not click in my mind what was going on. Next think you know Im low, I pull my main but my FXC on the student rig fired at 1500ft. I had a fully inflated main with my reserve pilot chute trailing behind me. I land a 288 sf canopy at the same time as my friend on a 98 or something. I was lucky I didnt have a two out situatution. Maybe one togle turn could have dumped my reserve out of the pack tray. Its real easy to loose alti awareness at those speeds, esspecially when you spend the whole dive looking up at the sky and not the ground. Typically new jumpers just off status dont have dytters let alone a real sense of alti awareness. Even if you cant make a 8pt 4way, by 100 jumps you've learned some of those basic skydiving survival skills. Everyone will adapt differently, some will be ready before others. I think that a good 100 jumps belly to earth, before venturing into back and sit flying, will only make you a better freeflyer.
  16. I will rule the sky! BIRDMAN! Im planning on 50 jumps in six days. I only have one rig But I do wanna do lots of freeflying and some birdman flocking too. How many days left?
  17. Imagine if it were that easy?
  18. I hope I find you ass in here cuz you look pretty damn hot.
