    WTF ?

. Looks like someone was listening to Mancow this morning... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  2. Can I come? Can I come? Oh, wait... Iowa isn't anywhere close to California... especially Northern California... Bummer. Guess it is just another week of cow-tipping and corn sniffing... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  3. As it stands, I have already had to take a sobattical from the sport; getting paid to quit altogether would just be a bonus... I could DEFINATELY take good care of my son for a million dollars... single parenting is a lot of hard work... But absolutely, positively nothing UNDER 1m would make me quit altogether... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  4. *reply to Turtlespeed, just too lazy to scroll back up* You didn't have MANCOW on by chance, did you? Morning Radio hosts have a habit of pushing political views through the airwaves too. Maybe it wasn't just the TV she got it from... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  5. It is because you are in the 4th largest city in america that your gas and cigs are so high... ever hear of supply and demand? In Iowa, gas isn't even over 1.70 yet... and I have no idea on smokes cuz I quit 2 years ago. Any more ranting and I will get in trouble by greenies for posting Speakers Corner threads in Bonfire playground... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  6. Ahh. Should have looked here first. And this whole time I thought Alabama and Georgia was as advanced as Dukes Of Hazard... (that was based in Georgia, but there is no Hazard County, GA). I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  7. We jus' got ourselves wonderful things called sidewalks here in Iowa... co'rse ya still get lost in the corn... Georgia and Alabama are in different timezones? What time zone is Bama in (there is no such thing as South Time Zone )... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  8. Yeah, well, close enough... People mix up Iowa and Idaho all the time, and they aren't even in the same timezone... Sorry to those I may have offended... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  9. This all from the same state that is trying to pass a law that maked female self mutilation illegal. Someone has no regard for Constitutional Rights, and I have pity for the people that live there. I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  10. 0:0:0 Pretty lame weekend... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  11. I am not saying have no moderators, I am saying that this type of specialized forum would not require all the Talk Back moderators to be watchdogs... one or two moderators can handle this forum.... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  12. Maybe a solution could be a seperate forum for American Politics then? Make the conversations a "closed door" so to speak... and only people that want to participate or read along will go in there... hence it would not bog down talk back, not all talk back mods would have to moderate it, and the rest of the world can just ignore it. I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  13. I am trying to enter the Pub Chat section, however, I keep running across this message: Welcome to Dropzone.com Chat! Connecting to home.chatworlds.net 7000 ..... Unable to connect to server. Connection close. Am I just not setup to use the Chat function? I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  14. Here is a lowly suggestion: Have someone that doesn't mind the political/gun control debates be a moderator in ONLY THOSE FORUMS, no others. Then, other greenies that don't appreciate the political forums can just ignore them... What say you? I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  15. I am doing my best not to instigate anything, so bare with me... I am only playing Devil's Advocate here... True, I can go there to read all I want about politics, but I also want to discuss politics from time to time. A lot of those websites that are geared for politics don't allow bulletin board forums because of different reasons (from ignoring people that disagree to money spent on campaing/advertising). I agree that HH could better use the bandwidth and money, and I also agree that if I search enough, there are sites out there that posting is allowed. However, the people posting are not skydivers and generally are untrustworthy (see related post earlier). Talk Back was a place where these things may have been discussed, argued, or ignored, but you could almost always be assured that someone would post something... 16. See, I have a problem with that mentality. I would like to know what the USPA lobbyists are doing in DC. I would like to know when or if any legislation is passed that outlaws jumping in certain areas or requires particular equipment. I would like to know what airlines allow/disallow parachutes to go on board. I would like to know when stupid laws like the "No Self-Mutilation Bill" get introduced. I also like to know what other people think of such issues because maybe they have heard something that I haven't. Furthermore, I trust skydivers more than I trust coworkers to be honest, open and opinionated... not just going along with the masses to get ahead in life. I think there is a contingent of posters that like the political forums and the debates that take place. Granted, a lot of them get heated to the point of needing locked, but at the same time, some very valid points are made. HH, I am not saying that you need to put it back up or that I demand a change, I am just fielding an opinion that I feel is shared by other users of this site. I think a seperate forum for politcs only may not be a bad idea (properly moderated, of course). edited: Less biased, more factual... 17. I don't recall that particular mountain ever being named. I remember the Bridge of Khazad-dum being a narrow stone bridge that crossed a deep chasm, within the Eastern gates of the dwarf city. I know the the mountain that Khazad-dum was inside was called Caradhras. I recall that Gandalf "smote [his] enemy upon the mountainside," (movie quote) but I don't recall a name to the mountain. Much like yourself riddler, I have read the books many times, and am reading Fellowship to my boy at night... that doesn't mean that I am right and you are wrong, just that I perceived things differently. Truce, I hope. I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  18. IIRC, Durin's bridge IS the Bridge of Khazad-dum, and hence he fell off it. Do you remember differently? "Right you are, Ken" - MXC, sorry, couldn't resist... And in the movie, Gwahir rescued Gandalf... but Gandalf took the plunge to give the elusion to Saruman. I know it is Hollywood (or New Zealand) make-believe, but it still looked cool... I think Sir Ian McKellon had a hardon for flailing his body needlessly in that movie... plus, I don't think he has ever fallen, and fallen, and fallen some more, then hit splashdown at terminal... but then again, he was a wizard - rules of nature do not apply to him... Did anyone miss Tom Bombadil in the movie? I would like to see him battle a bunch of ghosts in the Barrow Downs... I was also expecting to see the return of the hobbits to a razed shire, then see one last battle scene... but alas, Mr. Jackson didn't think of that. One other concern about the final installment... I thought that Pippen killed a troll by himself in the book and Merry helped kill the witch king... why was that part of Pippen's journey forgotten? That would have made much more sense than Legolas taking down an Oliphant by himself... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  19. That is some funny shit! I especially like the "They meet some really nice trees." and "Gandalf cleaned himself up a bit." I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  20. Alas you forget about Gandalf jumping off Orthanc, Gandalf falling off Khazad-dum, the goblins of Isengard getting flushed off the giant hole around Isengard, and of course, Gollum falling into Mount Doom. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Viggo Mortensen playing Aragorn, not Peter Jackson? I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  21. SIX MONTHS! Glad the lubrication didn't wear off, that could have caused major chaffing, not to mention a low-pitch squeak every time she inhaled... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  22. LOL! That is a Conundrum-grade joke! I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  23. I learned that skydiving isnt exactly diving from the sky. some people ride rafts.... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  24. Not true! They even made a movie that had a skydiving elephant in it! Disney did it so it HAS to be true!! I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
  25. Tell me about it! After the first round, I had lost 2 games... Nevada vs Michigan State (I had Michigan State like every other retard out there) and Southern Illinios vs Alabama (Salukies, Baby!) Second round, lost Tech was supposed to beat St. Joe's, and get into the Elite 8! Mississippi State also went down, and they were in my championship game! UGH the agony! Alabama beat Stanford, who was supposed to make it to 16. Syracuse beat another of my final four teams, Maryland. NC State lost me another 16 team. UCONN was supposed to go down to Maryland. UAB cost me another 4 team (who picked this upset?) Kentucky was then supposed to beat Kansas.... Then there was the Nevada craziness. My Zags were to be playing GaTech, who wasn't supposed to beat Kentucky. Good thing I did 2 brackets...
