    Johnny Gates

What???????????? RIP Johnny. You will always be remembered...
  3. You are right. My favorite scene was the round house kick scene: Billy Jack is surrounded by Posner's thugs] Mr. Posner: You really think those Green Beret Karate tricks are gonna help you against all these boys? Billy Jack: Well, it doesn't look to me like I really have any choice now, does it? Mr. Posner: [laughing] That's right, you don't. Billy Jack: You know what I think I'm gonna do then? Just for the hell of it? Mr. Posner: Tell me. Billy Jack: I'm gonna take this right foot, and I'm gonna whop you on that side of your face... [points to Posner's right cheek] Billy Jack: ...and you wanna know something? There's not a damn thing you're gonna be able to do about it. Mr. Posner: Really? Billy Jack: Really. [round house kicks Posner's right cheek, sending him to the ground] While, the hostage scene, the round house kick scene and "One Tin Soldier" were ok, the acting and direction was seriously lacking.
  4. Bambi - I cried and I can't kill a deer to this day. Billy Jack - Rented it again years later - what a cheesy movie....
  5. Uh Huh, thanks cocheese, this thread is perfect for me. I haven't posted in about five years but I still keep up with you guys. About four years ago, I broke two vertebrae in my back on a tandem jump - my student walked away, so I did my job - but I had to quit. Since then, I have taken up another “safer” sport – firearms competition and instruction. I’ll continue to lurk, keep up with the sport and wish y’all blue skies, favorable winds and turbine aircraft. Love ya - mean it.

  7. I've done a few stadium jumps, not nearly as many as twardo, and I am in the $100 to $300 average per jump range. Airtwardo, did you include one too many zeros in your post? $55,000.00? or did you mean $5500.00? Just curious if we are doing something way wrong? Thanks.
  8. I can't believe this. I'm in shock. Steve, I'll miss you. My family will miss you. You were truly one awesome friend. A true brother. Blue Skies to you, my brother. Keith
  9. Hey Mike, Now that you have broken 100 you need to update your profile numbers 84???? Congrats Man! BTW, I'll see you at MetalFest! Would you mind if I throw an empty water bottle at you from 500 ft? Keith
  10. From the Carolina Skysports Newsletter of 09-27-04: Well, the town of Lake Wales was again struck head on by Jeanne. >Precautions were taken at the airport to protect what they could. The >aircraft left Florida on Friday. Betty's home is safe but no one can >move about to see exactly what condition the airport is in. More rain, >more mud, more frustration!
  11. Nah, I also like them all and I would propose that it is just good TV Or, OMG, maybe its a Southern thing
  12. I kinda like American Chopper myself, 'course I know several people like old Pops. Oh, I should notta... Lord, I apologize for sayin' something contrary to my brother AggieDave, and be with the starvin' Pygmies down there in New Guinea. Amen.
  13. Woo Hoo! Congrats y'all! Awesome job! Call me next time and we'll make it 13 or 100 or something. Old Fart POPS #7459 Current NC and SC POPS formation record holder
  14. IMO, I read somewhere that your stows need to be so tight that you can lift the bag by the lines and they will not unstow. On my main, I use small rubber bands and double wrap each one. Of course, a rigger is the best person to consult for packing techniques.
  15. Past 15 years for me: Non-Skydiving: Broken elbow - basketball Torn Meniscus (sp?) (knee) - White Water Rafting Skydiving: Herniated disk L4-L5 - Line Dump 7 stitches in my foot - Runway Landing with Tevas I get hurt worse from non-skydiving activities. If I had known I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself

    Sharon Stone

Didn't mean to hijack a Sharon Stone thread but yes, its from the 100 jumper demo at the First Flight Celebration at the Wright Bros Memorial in December last year.

Hey now. Them's fightin' words. We resemble that remark and we don't mean maybe
  18. You hang in there girl. You'll get it figured out. From my same experience, bunge is right on. The only thing I could add is to be expedient and efficient in your transfer from laying on it to S-folding it. While you are laying on it, correctly orient your bag to accept it and be quick with your transfer. Don't give it time to expand. Roll off and quickly do the S-folds efficiently and quickly while trapping the canopy and one corner of the bag against your knees as you slip the bag over one end of the canopy. Only then, as bunge said, move your focus to clean up the other end. When all else fails, I just hire a packer that works under the direction of a rigger. Oops I misspelled "bunge"
  19. Actually, Frank was moved from Lake Wales to CSS in NC after Hurricane Charley. He needed some repairs to the rudder and leading edges of the wings. Those repairs were completed and he has flown jumpers at CSS for the past two weekends. If the projected storm track holds true, he should be safe from Frances. I hope everyone else is safe from her also. Hurricanes, they make living and jumping on the US East Coast very interesting.
  20. I'm still undecided on my vote but on July 4th I did 2 demo jumps into a political rally that featured Michael. I had read about his skydiving connection in this forum so of course I ragged him about doing one of the demo jumps with us, 3 piece suit and all. He hung out with our demo team while we packed, etc. I asked him to sign my logbook and he wrote: "JUST SO YOU KNOW - FIGHTING FOR LIBERTY IS THE ONLY THING THAT COULD DRAG ME AWAY FROM SKYDIVING FOR THREE YEARS. NEVER FEAR. I'M GOING TO RESTORE LIBERTY SOON, AND THEN I'LL BE BACK IN THE AIR! BLUE SKIES + HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! MICHAEL BADNARIK D-13144 Pretty cool guy for a Presidential Candidate. Edited to fix spelling.
  21. Uh huh. Yep, the stories get quite interesting. But yep, that thing (YK) sat around in disarray forever. It may have had a birthday while it was there but its gone now. So is one of the "old blues" 100AP. Both are excellent jump aircraft and I will miss them.
  22. When 228CS was at CSS we called him "Taco" and I really don't remember why.
  23. Thanks for the help everyone. Yep, all we have used are M18's rigged to a foot bracket that was made by a GK member. We rigged a parachute line to each pin then up the leg. Just after exit we then snatched the line to extract the pins. This demo requires a freefall formation in the shape of the signature mark of the sponsor. With the technique we have used with the M18s, we are in the formation before deploying the smoke. Obviously we need a different technique with the cardboard cannisters. We have another practice session next Saturday to try again. DZ.Commers are the greatest!
  24. I hear you brother. I have around 100 jumps out of Frankenotter myself and I have a tendency to get attached to things. Although I kinda wish he could stay home at CSS, I hope you guys get him back real soon.
