  1. If someone has done a few tandems in the past, plans to do a tandem about every year or two, but doesn't plan to do AFF or jump on his/her own, is that person considered to be a "skydiver"? I've always been curious about this 'cuz I've met several people who meet this category who have told me that they are skydivers. Curious to hear others' opinions.
  2. You'd probably remember the Haunting of Hill House then. That movie did it for me!!
  3. Oh, one other suggestion. If you don't think you're going to be able to pay your bills on time, you might want to think about talking to your landlord and creditors about your situation. Most are willing to work with you if you're upfront. Also, this might sound dumb, but I know nothing about unemployment laws anywhere, let alone Kansas. Is unemployment available for those who's hours are involuntarily reduced? Or is it just if you are laid up, I mean off?
  4. This works great too. We did that one time and sold stuff on Ebay. It was amazing what we got on some junk we were just going to trash.
  5. Well, I heard that certain places that take male donations!! Seriously though, I'm sorry about your plight. Can you get a part-time job that corresponds with your work hours? Do you pack and maybe can do some packing at the local DZ? Would you be interested in a newspaper route (do they do that anymore)? Some of my female friends have cleaned houses or baby sat while they needed an income, but I'm not sure if you'd be into that. Do you have any buddies in the landscaping business who you can do some odd jobs for? I used to wait tables during college. The tips were great. Maybe there are some local catoring places that need some early morning help for business breakfasts. Does your college offer any part-time work? I did that during school as well. I know it's summer and all though. Best of luck to you!
  6. I heard on the news that with the Harry Potter series, she went from being a single mom on welfare to the richest person in England, even over the Queen! I wish I had talent.
  7. I agree! We just picked up the book last night for my soon-to-be stepson. The deal is that I can't read it until he does and he doesn't get back from camp until Sunday. So, hush....
  8. That's a shame - sorry to hear that. Seems to be the attitude in a lot of places (my mom's a teacher and they don't get much support either).
  9. Atlas Shrugged is a fabulous book! I forgot about that one when I wrote my list. It's long but I enjoyed every page of it and the message was quite interesting to ponder as well.
  10. Why are you on admin leave when it was her fault? That really sucks.
  11. I agree. Life is about the choices we make and then taking dealing with the consequences of making those choices.
  12. Glad to see I'm not the only one who then had to figure out what to do at work to pass the time (instead of work)!!
  13. This makes the "those who have 9 lives" club. I'll have to add it to my list of stories where you can't believe the person actually lived!!
  14. I'm so jealous. What I really want out of life is to find a job I like where I can wear jeans and my Birkenstocks! So I'll just have to live vicariously through you!
  15. Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsh Illusions by Richard Bach
  16. On videos - Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith.
  17. I have several meditation tapes and find that listening to one of them helps me relax so that I can sleep better (using headphones while laying in bed). Good luck! I too have suffered from insomnia for weeks on end and it seriously sucks. Fortunately I do eventually sleep!
  18. A diseased bitch who likes to whallop lesbians? WFT!
  19. Only if he lives in West Virginia!
