  1. Don't know that situation, but... I had a bag lock when I was triple stowing my bag. Also, in thinking about it, the couple jumps before the mal, with a couple triple stows, it almost mall'ed. That is, it 'felt' like it was going to hang up. That is hindsite So, don't triple stow. Double is fine, but beyond that, get a different size band. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  2. I don't have any "side" in all this, but this just in from Yahoo. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2001909527_coffin22m.html oops. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  3. I'm AOPA, and yeah they are a great organization and resource for pilots, and skydivers, in a way, too. Some thoughts as to why they do their job well. They have over 400,000 active members. By nature of their members and what those members do, they have millions upon millions of dollars at their disposal. I have seen some say USPA should do as well as them. That is kinda funny. By nature of what skydivers do, they don't have near the money available to them. That and the membership of USPA doesn't compare. To compare the two organizations is like comparing McDonalds to a kid's curbside lemonade stand. Not that I'm am so in love with the USPA, and I'm sure they do their bonehead things, but without them, who knows what we would really have today? AOPA cares about planes, not us. But yeah, bu association with those planes they have helped a lot. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  4. You'd be better off in the baggy shirt, tight blue jean kinda thing to learn to sit. If you have a coach, he won't have fall rate issues, but will get you up to speed on technique. Plus, you will be doing solo's, fall rate isn't an issue there. If you buy a full suit now, you may buy the wrong one, too baggy or too tight. When you get better, you will see how your body type, weight, style works with others. Then you will be better able to tell what kind of suit will work for you, for the next couple years. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  5. To further rain on the parade. Higher insurance costs, tail wheel. And finding a tailwheel qual'ed pilot. But they are way cool, when you get it all together. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  6. It is tough to go wrong with these tapes, at this price. http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=965136 ---------------------------- bzzzz

  8. What am I doing wrong in Premier 6? Ripple delete worked fine before, but now, after a while fiddleing with the project it won't Ripple, and I have to move each little piece forward. What did I do? thx ---------------------------- bzzzz
  9. EEk, when I posted that, it had just hit Yahoo!. The bid price was a mere 1 million. Now it is over 8 million. Just a bit out of my price range. Andrea, you are a dork, but that doesn't mean we can't all be. I don't know how to do "clicky" very well. I wonder how many movie stars and famous people are linked to the bid history of that thing. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  10. I know this must have been posted before, but if not, anybody wanna chip in a couple bucks to buy this puppy? write whatever clicky name here Ok, then, it's clicky. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  11. Gin Blossoms Whitewash. Pretty much the way I would prefer the last 5 years, whitewashed. ---------------------------- bzzzz

  13. ahh, you understand then. Nothing better than than when the powerband kicks in and sends you to the moon. Fun fun, I was playing with a V-Max last year. I was pissing him off because he couldn't get away from me. I could have driven around him in the corners, but I would just come up beside him, and get my drive going for the straight away. I love that "WTF?, It is only a 350!?" look you get from guys like that. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  14. Ah hell, i love em all, Still have an '84 RZ 350. Yahhoo!!! it'll stand on it's hind tail in a heartbeat, loud, spastic, smelly and a bit obnoxious. It is responsible for all the scars on my knees, and that time period in my life when all my jeans had holes in the knees. The pic is last year at the AMA Superbike at Elk Heart lake. Borrowed Big Honda twin that has no qualms about 70 mph wheelies. We even got 20 minutes of track time. It was a blast. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  15. I have a Vaio notbook, XP, 512ram at 100mhz, amd 1ghz, and it runs premiere 6 fine. So your issues may be more than buying bigger and better. Mine is not optimum, but ok. You may try shutting down some processes, or tweaking your config. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  16. Ah such a wonderful Infinity Love fest. I would post mine, but Kelly would whine, because he doesn't want another one like it built. heh heh. Seriously, mine was built in '98 and it is still going strong. Even the cutaway system still works. But about time for a new one. Mine is begining to look like something Dwight Yokum would wear. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  17. Franks Red Hot, the ketchup of the new Millenium. Heat is only good with flavor. Franks isn't hot but it sure is tasty. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  18. No RSL. My preference, for the reasons everybody talks about. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  19. Specifically. In the time it took to decide to chop it, looking at the video, I did two 360's to the right, the nose was coming through the lines, kissing the tail, It was starting to swing me horizontal. Not all the way open, so probably still doing at least 70mph straight down. You'll notice too, when I chopped it, it threw me into another 360 the other direction. That gives an indication of how violent the ride was. I have around 400 jumps on that canopy, and there was no question that it was in a bad way. It wasn't a case of it trying to pressureize, and seeking a heading, like those canopies do. Saying the brakes were unstowed is hindsight. Sitting under it, it seemed more like I had broken a line. I can say now, it may have been caused by an unstowed toggle, or tension knot. But that is 5 days after. As far as hard deck, and playing with it more. To me, Hard deck is for a low speed malfunction. When is the lowest I would chop. In this sit, it was fast and violent enough that it could have in an instant spun up, possibly preventing a cutaway. So, not it wasn't spun up, and yeah, above my "hard deck" But I had better things to do than play with it. As far as the unstowed brake thing. I really meant to ask if anybody had any specific knowledge of that type of canopy, at a similar loading doing something like it. I ask, so that I may have a better knowledge of what it really was. We never stow the brakes on our Icarus tandem canopies. So that in itself isn't the issue. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  20. Hey Scott; It was about 3.5 I dumped it and saddled under a reserve 10 seconds later, so probably around 2.5. I did have my hands on the rears, and maybe could have opened it with a little more work, but it wasn't looking good, and was going fast. I can see how that could work though. I really wasn't so sure what happend until I slowed the video down to frame by frame. Even then, I can't say for sure. So from your post, that would make sense that the brakes weren't properly stowed on mine? ---------------------------- bzzzz
  21. I figured I would show all my cutaway from Perris last Sunday. It is a Xaos 98 loaded at about 2.1 It was a normal skydive, stable deployment, but when it began to inflate, it was obviously not happy. Not spinning up, but dancing hard and rotating fast. I tried to counter with rear risers and looked at it. I thought I may have lost a toggle. It was worse than that, so I got rid of it. All was fine then. My conclusion, after looking at the video, frame by frame, and talking to people is that both brakes were unstowed, either on opening (not likely) or, more likely, my packing error. That in itself may have caused it, or the extra brake line may have caused a tension knot that kept the nose closed. If anybody with experience has any other thoughts, I wouldn't mind hearing them. Otherwise, just enjoy watching my wild ride. Oh, and pack carefully. http://www.northwindrigging.com/storage/Cutaway04.wmv Edited to say, I don't know why it doesn't want to be clicky, but just copy and paste into the title bar, and it should work. Now clicky. Thx A. ---------------------------- bzzzz

  24. Works for me. I have a Kendo .42 I think 47mm threads is the start, stepped all the way down to 30mm. I have compared and it has the almost exact field of view as Max's Diamond .3 My lens is huge to start with though. Looks cool too. Like I am a real video guy. ---------------------------- bzzzz
  25. Very nice new avatar, I think I have seen it before though. It almost looks like I knew what I was doing on that exit. Glad you got the package Alana. The USPS is fast. ---------------------------- bzzzz
