  1. That's fantastic...considering. They didn't get too much damage I suppose? -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  2. Try re-reading my posts, it's been addressed (although lightly). Try this as well: Add more tolerance, compassion and fiber to your diet...you'll strain a lot less. -R You make the mistake of thinking that having a gun for protection against those elements of society that "social outreach" has not yet fixed is somehow exclusive to working toward the fixes you mention. Even if we reached that point, where jobs and education are so wonderful, you believe that there could then never be the aberrant psychotic, or just greedy malcontent, who is looking for the even easier way to wealth? How does your pie-in-the-sky touchy-feely approach help us in the now? (even if it could help is in the later) -Jeffrey You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  3. That's actually the fallacy of prisons. They don't rehabilitate people. They don't improve the person and make them more able to be a contributing part of society. It's a box to stick people in. It's a broken system and needs to be scrapped. -R Jail is not the same as prison. They don't sleep on benches for ## years. Jail is temporary, prison is semi-permanent to permanent. They are not THAT bad... but that doesn't mean that they are THAT good, either. I think that being in prison without being able to read, exercise, move about, would drive someone to insanity. The hope in many cases is that after a prisoner has served his/her time, they will be able to be rehabilitated and return as a functional member of society. That probably wouldn't happen with someone who has had little to no interation with the outside world, has been isolated, treated cruely, etc. Angela. 4. As for the second amendment I never suggested changing anything about it. I suggested on focusing resources to a more effective solution. I do not consider more police a solution, nor safer in any regard, to the contrary actually. I am a firm supporter of the second amendment solely for that reason. I also am a firm believer in nurture over nature and I think there is no need for genetic modification in order to socialize people I think it can be done in the environment. I understand that often times mental illness is physical...hence the need for more health care and mental health care working on solutions rather than alleviating symptoms. Everything else can be boiled down to being considerate of others and raising children to be better people. This can be done starting with more education, jobs, social programs, social awareness and compassion. This is a complicated problem and can't really be summarized in a few paragraphs by a layman. -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  5. $85/hr, skydiver rate :> -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  6. Let me guess, you out-reasoned him and he felt threatened by your logical (and probably correct) argument? I hope someone removed the stick from his ass for you :> -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  7. Do you think it's a better use of time preparing to become the next victim than to actually try to fix the reason you might ever be a victim at all? Precious energy spent on touting your right to bear arms could be better spent fixing the problems in this society that would give people a reason to need to protect themselves. Why not strive to improve jobs, education, health care and mental health care...the things that would minimize the seeds for violent crime. Someone locking themselves up in their house with their cache of firepower makes them a nut job, part of the problem, they probably could've benefited from that lobbying for more mental health care. We only have so many people with so much time that they can spend not working or taking care of families, we should spend that time most effectively, working at the root of the problem, not ignoring it and focusing on what's easy. Eliminate the things that cause crime, then you can live life not in fear of crime. -R Whats it like to be blind to the dangers surrounding your life? Don't you get tired of not being prepared and then becoming the next victum? Do you realize that you have a lot of enemies and they don't even know you, they're complete strangers that want to do harm to you just to get what you own? 8. Thank you for your oh-so eloquent and finely articulated point. But here's the American Bar Association's thoughts on it, I'll defer to them on the argument as I'd think they are what you'd call 'experts' on subject. http://www.abanet.org/moratorium/why.html edit: i spel gud You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  9. *looks at the dirty dishes in the sink* god, I hope not. -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  10. Whoop! I'm hoping I can make it this year, it sounds like a blast. Let us know when the details are finalized. -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  11. Buy used. You're going to downsize eventually, and when you've been in the sport a while and can make an informed decision on what you'll need and what your canopy progression will be. Don't waste the money as in a year or two you're going to need to dump your new rig because your new canopy will be too loose in your container. I bought new at 50 jumps and wish I had waited even longer to purchase a new rig, I would've gotten something that I'd be able to use for another couple of years as my downsizing rate decreases. -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  12. It wasn't so much that he thought he had god on his side, it was that he said god was on his side to enlist the support of those that would actually be dying in the war, the poor and un-educated (generally the most religious demographic). This is a common M.O. of world leaders to organize their minions to carry out their agendas. -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  13. As the victims of war usually are the innocents. Wars are used by ruling elites to resolve disputes, at the expense of their population. Justifying it as religious mandate or mandated by god or some such is generally used to 'convince' the masses, those who would actually die for these disputes. -R Does the winner really matter? Or the ethics? What about the constant barrage of napalm in Japan during ww2? More Japanese died that way than by Nagasaki and Hiroshima combined. We won, our country's ass was saved, but those that were killed were primarily women and children, the innocents. You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  14. Now, remember, it's not just the Christians, let's be fair. -R If that was the intended meaning I'd have thought that the current set of Bible translations would state that wouldn't they? Its pretty fundamental afterall and if a short bit of text like that has been mis-translated then how on earth can the translations of all the other thousands of sentences be relied on? Also, Christians regularly kill people in war situations when it cannot be put down to self defence. You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  15. The crusades? The inquisition? The conquistadors? -R In what circumstance, specifically are you referring in reference to justified killing? You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  16. That's because there was a paradigm shift that happened with Jesus. The god of the old testament was a smiting, unfriendly, and cranky character. The god of the new testament was all about tolerance, forgiveness and touchy-feely-lovey stuff. How these are reconciled is beyond me, how christians justify killing even though the 10 commandments explicitly state to NOT do it, is also beyond me. -R I have a question about this: God says not to kill other people. He stated "Thou shalt not kill" which is about as unambiguous as He could be on the issue. Yet Christians consider it OK to kill people under certain circumstances. How is that so? Also, why does He make that rule for us, when it seems He did a pretty substantial bit of smiting, some of it right before handing down that rule during the (un)parting of the Red Sea? You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  17. Isn't that an oxymoron as American-style capitalism IS exploitation at its most refined? He played the game well, don't be jealous :> -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  18. I'm not sure what this has to do with a specific person or political party as it seems like anyone would be able to exploit it...and they have. It's almost cliche to register dead people as voters, it's been happening for ages. After living in South Florida for a while I've found that an overwhelmingly large amount of people that live here or stay for the winter are from the New York area. It's logical that determining state residency can be confusing (come on, these are the people that couldn't figure out a ballot), complicated or tentative in this situation. -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  19. generators -> refrigerators -> medicine (insulin, blood) etc. Sounds reasonable to me. also: one would assume that people are already wearing clothing, which can be re-worn, they are not consumables, food, water and insulin, however are. -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  20. Wow, that's like when the Europeans "bought" various pieces of land from the Native Americans for some beads...someone didn't quite make out in that trade. :> Make sure your tit is the same size as your tat! -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  21. I do voodoo. Here's my V3 with a Sam 105. It doesn't look too bad as the Sam 105s pack up a bit bigger. -R Do you have a pic? I'd love to see how it looks on. thx. Angela. You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  22. As far as I know, they're the closest DZ to Ft. Myers, so it doesn't matter how far they are, they're your best bet :> -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  23. The latest Ivan track shows it moving further into the Gulf, then hitting Atlanta by Wednesday, oh the irony :>. At least we'll be all nice and dry this weekend. -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  24. Whoa, dude, we're in SOUTH Florida, it's at least 3 .5 hours to Deland, so 10 hours each way...not likely to happen soon, thanks anyways :P -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
  25. I hear Titusville is a yes. Clewiston is a NO. Z-hills is a NO. Sebastian is a NO? Anyone else? -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
