  1. Nevertheles it looks strange, but its normal. Thats not a malfunction. It can happen. Safe landings.
  2. I have a ProTrack too. I had 2 mals in a seq. It wasnt so pleasent to hear the siren....(student mode) It gives me more safty. Once Ive mounted altimeter on the chest strap, I couldnt see during the freefall..... I had to trust my eyes a bit, Ive opened by ProTrack, but I wouldve opened anyway. Anyway I use to check my altimeter time to time. Theres one more inportant thing. Ive heard a story that someone was trusting AA, after some time he realized that he left it on ground and he had a low opening. Keep in mind if you dont have it. Safe landings
  3. Think first! If the wind is hard and you are on the short, it might happan you wont make it. Anyway, In out club it is required to start opening over 1000m for a student, because of FXC. Safe landings.
  4. I had a broken tibula or fibula... Ive hurt my tail-bone twice, that was hurting long. I was told that there are 3 kind of skydiver: 1. who had a broken foot 2. having a broken foot 3 . ................ (take a wild guess) "No pain, no game" from my karate master Safe landings
  5. And with this regulation...he would not have been able to jump it even if he could buy it. You cant stop them got killed by human stupidity. I know if you dont want USPA rules be applied on you - you can easily find other places.......... Safe landings
  6. Is it better to save and let them die in traffic accident or cancer? Let them die young! Let the natural selection rule the world! Safe landings
  7. Wow! Getting better! And what would you put in the written test? Safe landings
  8. How can you say that? You dont know what would be without that. And why do you think that you do have? I don`t think so. On some level it safer if you dont feel yourself safe. If you feel more danger than usual, you will follow the rules e.g. you wont make "demo" landing with canopy you dont realy know. Most of the time thats not a WL problem, just a general pilot problem. On the other hand theres the responsibility of that person who is selling or renting those equipments. I know a case that someone could bought a small, higy WL, highly eliptical canopy with # of jumps under 200. He told the dealer if he is not willing to sell that gear some other willl. He ate the dirt in some other country in front of his fiends making a breaked hook turn landing. I am trying to make them safe for everyone. Even the ones that don't know they are in danger. Ron :) It was just some kindda signiture :). Safe landings
  9. Man! You are under 300m/1000feet. A reserve should open and inflate in 100m! 300m is a decision point. If you have a problem, slow malfunction that you cannot handle, you cannot land with it. Normal emergency procedure. If you under 300m with an unlandlable canopy you are really fucked. You may try to deploy reserve without cut away. I was told the skydiving is that kindda activity that one fault wont kill you. You may survive the second fault. But no way to survive the third one!!!. Safe landings.
  10. If you noticed number of jumps is nothing. You can mesaure of your current competence by total number of jump, jump in last 6 and 12 month and the gear you used with design & WL. Im sure that someone would be capable to fly with a HP over 1.4 WL in 6 month with 400 jumps. IMHO it shouldnt be any general rule. Listen to your mentor, know your limits. Safe landings.
  11. Jump ticket is fair, but gear rental???? Has she used it? Anyway is it the instructors responsibilty to check her gear if she does not have A? In Finland the graduation is getting C license. With A or B you are just a student and under instructors responsibility and supervion. Safe landings.
  12. Do you think that the number of jumps is a good regulation??? I hade 108 jumps in 3 years. Do you think it will qualify me to jump with HP canopies if I would have 400 jumps in 12 years? I dont think so. You should know your capabilites and handicaps and respect other opinion too. Check the manufacturers recommendation for those HP canopies. They have better "rules". Dont you feel quilty if some crash but he was allowed to use his gear by the rule approved by you? Education without regulation. Safe landings
  13. In what situation do you need reserve under 1000feet/300m ??? Is it canopy collision or broken break line? Safe landings.
  14. I had a similar insident. One of my legsrtap has opened during freefal from 2000m. It was an unpleasent surprise. I could hardly reach the breaks. Safe landings.
  15. If she skipped that jump she could be alive. Does it make any sense? Safe landings
  16. Try a chewing gum! It use to help pressurizing. Safe landings
  17. I think that most of the problem is in your gear. First of all you are flying with the maximum recommended weight . The other factor is your canopy is old. Any F111 has a little flar power compairing with ZP ones. I have about 40 jumps with F111, I was told to start pulling breaks about 2m and I have to reach the stall position when my feet touch the ground. You should consider to change your main. Safe landings
  18. We are jumping from C-206. I donno any problem with the plane. Safe landings
  19. Im sorry. I forgot to mention that the jump master is holding that pocket where the BOC is stored. It seems thats the 3rd version of static line. Safe landings
  20. IAD is that kind of jump when the BOC in a special packet which is connected to the plane with a static line? This sytem is called static line in Finland. Or soft static line in Hungary. I had some (hard) static line when the body was connected to the plane. I think the first one is better for the equimnent and the plane too. Safe landings
  21. Ask those guys about details if official invetigation is closed! She might have had other problems too. I dont have fisrt hand info, but this case is not so simple. Safe landings
  22. Thats one way to prevent similar fatalities. Safe landings
  23. You are right. FAI "D" certificate sticker: "Senior Parachutist" http://www.fai.org/parachuting/certificates_proficiency/ Safe landings
  24. IMHO it makes no sense to me. In Finland you have to practice cutaway as a student and get an exam about in every 3 month, but on the ground!!! I was sitting in a harmness my instructor put demo table over me, it shows a canopy in some situation. I had to make a decision and solve the situation you had fast. You can have the routine this way. This is the theory. In practice I have 3 of them. One of them was my fault, My first Reserve Ride for details. Do I have to feel myself more experienced that other eg, D licensed jumpers? I know its a bit too much with my number of jumps, but you know shit happans. I dont feel more confident afterall. If I had a situation I would follow the regulation just before and in this case nothing has changed. Having a cest monted reserve is not the same with the original situation. On the other hand what if your chest monted is not working properly? Is it time to practice cutaway with a knife??? Is it any reason to cutaway a good and working canopy? Is it any sence to eject from a working plane??? Is the only difference that your canopy wont damage anything compairing with an unmanned airplane? Think! Do you want to put your or others life in more danger than needed? The MASTER is just a term for D. And so what? That think that you allowed to do anything doesnt mean that you are capable to do everything. So IHMO the training is required, but not a live one. Safe landings.
