  1. Hello James, This trip looks to be mid 2005. Long ways off still... My wife would love parasailing. Unfortunately it just doesnt do it for me. I think it would just make me mad My family wants to re-enact a trip we all took there in 1978 and plans to make it in mid 2005 to give everyone plenty of time to save $$$ Cheers
  2. Does anyone know if there are any drop zones in the Virgin Islands? More specifically, St. John.
  3. You can do this. Its not even in question. The only question is how much do you want to quit. If you really want it, you CAN do it. There is no doubt. I smoked 2 - 3 pack of Marlboro reds a day from age 14 to age 36 and I decided that I had paid the idiot tax for long enough. I went cold turkey as you did. I've been smoke free for 3 years now and I've never been healthier of happier. If you are VERY committed, it wont be as hard as you think. You make it harder on yourself by thinking about how hard it is and dwelling on it. The only encouragement I can offer you is the simple fact that you can suceed if you want to. Dont let the tobacco bastards keep making a fool of you. The best helpful tip I can offer is stay away from alcohol for a few weeks. There is no luck, good or otherwise.
  4. I AM an alcoholic. I've been sober for 8 years. Wouldnt have it any other way. Alcohol sucks and what it did to my life sucks. Partly BECAUSE I'm an alcoholic. Alcohol is just ONE of the things I've had to deal with in my life. Without the need to deal with Alcohol, I wouldnt have had to deal with all the other shit too. Because of the fact that I have dealt with ALL that stuff, my life rocks now! I'd add a longer reply since I have a lot on this subject that I could asay, but I'm GOIN SKYDIVING and I gotta hit the road :-) Its a 2 hour drive and I wanna be there ASAP Oh yeah let me add one last thing. You dont have to be an alcoholic or know any to know how stupid that question was. You only need a brain and to use it for a half a second :-) Drinking is about dying. Skydiving is about living. They couldnt be more different.
  5. I have only jumped from C-182, C-185, and C-206. I prefer the C-182. It has a nice big step on the wheel to climb out on :-)
  6. Say, thats Opus the penguin! Ya dont see him or ol Bill around much anymore :-( Ack Ack ACK!!
  7. Thanks Brains! In that case: 0:2:1
  8. 0:2:0 I've seen a few different interpretations of what these numbers represent. What is the definitive answer? My numbers here assume: friday jumps:saturday jumps: sunday jumps
  9. This is close enough for me. I always knew I had to fly. So I did.
  10. Any reason you specifically want to get THAT container and put THAT main in it? If you havent spent the money yet, shop around for a while longer and try to find one that better suits your needs. I have a Vector 3 M V357 with a Sabre2 210 in it. Its a good fit. Why cram it in when you can just get the "right" size container? Judging from your profile
  11. If this is true it would certainly implicate perspiration, skin oils and secretions, cosmetics, deoderant/antiperspirant, colognes, etc.. since this would be the area where the most contact between skin and nylon occurs. (At least when I pack) Would an occasional wipe with a warm, damp cloth in this area be a good idea?
  12. It seems that no matter what the temp is, when I'm packing I sweat. Who here hasnt dripped sweat all over their main while packing? Has anyone ever done any tests to determine the long term effects of the salt and other "ingredients" on the Zero-P fabric? Is this something that should be washed off?
  13. 100 meters? I wouldnt trust my life to something that couldnt even qualify for an A license

    Exit weight

I add 35 lbs for my gear including rig, jumpsuit, clothing, helmet, footgear. My rig accounts for about 30 lbs. Its a Vector 3 V357 with a Sabre2 210 and a PD-218R
  15. Dude, you shouldnt be depending on packers. Just pack that thing till you can do it consistantly. I just got my new sabre2 a few weeks ago and was having one hell of a time with it. I hadnt packed ANYTHING in 8 years and never packed zero P before. At this point it takes me about 30 minutes. Thats pretty slow compared to some but frankly I dont give a crap I just repacked it a couple times each day and now I dont have any problems
  16. Chaulk me up for another one. Working from home breeds a general sense of laziness and a lot of time to read dz.com posts :-)
  17. Freefly suits tend to be baggier to create more drag. They may have Velcro at the ankles to prevent the legs from riding up while doing sits or stands etc. RW suits can be loose or tight depending on the jumpers bodyweight and how fast they want to fall. They usually have grippers on the upper arms and legs for other jumpers to hold on to.
  18. This is very silly and extremely exaggerated. However I do have to agree that the media has turned the average white male in the US into a pussy. If you believe these commercials, we cant cook, clean, change diapers, take care of sick kids, or manage anything domestic even a little bit. We look like a bunch of pathetic idiots. This fact has been annoying me for years. I think a real man can do all of these things, and do them well. They can also kick ass and take names when the situation calls for it. I can build a house, fix the car, chop down a tree, and then sew up the hole in my pants with the sewing machine. I can sew up the hole in my leg too and have actually done so on a camping trip once. Then I'll do the laundry and it will actually come out clean. I can seperate whites and colors. I'm not "afraid" to cry. I just dont go to pieces over every little thing. When theres a good reason for it, like when I held my son the first time or lose someone dear to me, I cry too. Only pussies can be pussified so I'm not overly concerned for my masculinity. Lastly, real men dont worry all that much about being real men. I'm extremely amused at the portrayal of Donald Trump as a "medieval gargoyle"
  19. 55 seconds freefall from 13k to 4k at 120 mph

Not everyone that is accused of a crime is guilty. Not everyone that commits a crime will be accused. If there was not sufficient evidence to convict him then in our society and in the eyes of the law, he is innocent. This thread simply serves to create controversy.
  22. Ack! I'm with Ivan here. It might be better to make a poll called "What colors do you hate the least?" Sorry I dont like green at all so that kinda renders me useless to you.
  23. OK, now the real one. Standing up at the tailgate of a pickup truck to take a leak while the truck was going 40 mph down a bumpy back road. EXTREMELY drunk. Truck hit a bump and I was catapulted out of the truck. Separated my shoulder on landing. I've had surgery twice over the last 10 years and I no longer have an AC joint in my right shoulder. Just one in a VERY long list of dumb things I did while drunk. Also another in a long list of reasons why I no longer drink alcohol
