I hadn't considered that. I have access to some in dustrial grade rubber flooring 5/8' thick oil/gas proof etc. I primarily bought the truck to tow a lage trailer (55' over 10,000 lbs) I just came back from a whirlwind tour of L.A.. You need to provide more info. What do you want to do with this system? Business apps? Games? Video editing? Do you "Really" need portability? (A desktop will always give you a better display for equivalent $$$) LCDs suck for high frame rates, video and/or games, compared to a CRT or 2 (Dual headed display adapters rock). As for architecture, look to AMD64, either it Athlon64 or Opteron. It is a brand new architecture and provides a future for growth. P4 and K7 are on their last legs. I'm currently typing this on a Dual Opteron running Windows XP PRO. AMD64 rules for several reasons, not the least of which is that it is a new platform with room to upgrade. Athlon XP is a great chip, but at the end of it's life cycle. Pentium 4 (whichever socket or chipset they're flogging this week) is also at the end of it's life cycle. Intel has announced their support for 64 bit x86 (although they won't pubicly give AMD recognition) The other is that your current Windows XP (32 bit) will suffer no performance hit running on AMD54 and you can upgrade your OS to 64bit whenever you feel the driver and application support is sufficient. Actually, After reading this, i would suggest that Wendy is probably the quintessential definition of the ANTI-SOCCER MOM (even if she does drive the "SCALED-DOWN VERSION OF A FULL-SIZED VAN") I think there may be an opportunity for a bumper sticker there for someone that is so motivated (something like "the next person that calls me a soccer mom gets shoved out of the plane by me !")
