I am the administrator of a nursing home and it really makes me sad to see stories like that. I know that they are out there, but that is why I work to educate consumers on the information and data that is out there to assist in finding a good home. www.medicare.gov has a "Nursing Home Compare" section where you can go on and look at the annual survey results (an inspection done by the state and federal health department annually at each facility) and data regarding the care at the facility. There ARE bad places out there, but they are not all that way. Look up Friendship Village of Columbus in Columbus, Ohio and you will see that I run my facility completely differently.
