  1. I've just shown up there and had a tour, but I do know a number of the staff there, eg Bruce & Melody from the Kenya boogie, Derek from when he comes home to Blighty so perhaps they just fitted me in 'cos they know me. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. 2. Cookie & Biscuit must just be weird cats. They've got the hang of lie-ins! They don't touch my face, they just rub themselves against my hands. If I put them back under the covers and turn over, they huddle up together at the end of the bed and are happy unil 10 am (if that's when I choose to get up on a Saturday.) tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. 3. Just adding my bit, and I think I'm agreeing with other in not being quite sure what the OP is getting at. And - if you want to do something about it, the only thing stopping you standing for council, as that the time for this year's nominations are up. You can stand next year and please use your democratic right to vote for those people you feel represent you most on the BPA council. Ranting here won't change a thing, supporting your preferred council member(s) and subsequently standing for countil will give you a chance to change things! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. 6. They are important enough for a number of people to stay away altogether from his events or even if they are there, not take part. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe
  7. I'm not going to read through all of these before telling you my story about Tonto. I never even met him, yet he was incredibly friendly and helpful introducing me to the South African skydiving community, to the extent that I was back in South Africa 'gatecrashing' the honeymoon of two friends I met at Wonderboom when we got the news of his death. He was always helpful, friendly and someone whose advice I trusted, shame he isn't around to give me advice when I'll next need it (whether I want it or not!). Howzit Tonto, although we never met, you are special to me and gave me some fantastic friends I'll have for the rest of my life. I can never thank you enough for that. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe
  8. one of my favourites is Close accordian closed accordian (other side!) closed accordian (1st side) 570 turn closed accodian (other side) closed accordian (1st side) closed accordian (other side) 570 turn Can really speed up with two experienced people so you end up only both lifting your chests to move from one closed to the next. With a less experienced person it can help reducing grip fixation. They can't see grip for the next point from the point they are at and get more used to flying their body into the right space and just find the grip is there. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. 9. So if a big way jumper violates this rule and gets kicked off the big way, they should be fair and kick the organizer off if he violates the same rule. Since the organizer is responsible for the rule, one imagines that the organizer will abide by it. and will anyone else say or do anything if the organiser doesn't? tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. 15. Yesterday, on our 3rd attempt at the 68-way cross, we built it! It's a new British record, beating the 60-way all women record set in 2004. Not sure whether pics are up yet anywhere - lots of people are nursing major hangovers today! Edited to say that pics are at www.britchicks.org if you click on the Media section. Obviously the all-male camera, web and general support team isn't quite as hungover as the chicks are! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. 17. that raises a question which could have one of two answers: It takes a long time for things to get into dictionaries, which would imply that you've been teaching a long time; or You haven't been teaching long and it is amazing how quickly dictionaries change! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. 18. E-Fli is the only one I'm aware of, and until you posted your comment, I didn't realise if cost anything, I'd looked at it when it was being developed, and it was free at the time. I don't think there is a free one anywhere. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

  20. I'm often one of the first to scratch if I see bad weather coming in or being uncomfortable with the wind conditions. Having said that, I wasn't always this way and there are times now when I choose not to jump and know that 5 years ago, in the same conditions I would have jumped. And that change in attitude isn't even because anything happened to me in bad conditions. Last time I scratched off a 50+ way, around 5 people said that they should have stood down too (mind you thats over 45 people who were happy with the conditions!). I think it takes guts from a low-timer to choose not to jump and I respect that in others because I know there were times when I wanted to but didn't have the courage to tell others I was uncomfortable when they obviously were. The way an organiser reacts to me scratching is one of the ways that I judge organisers. I wasn't there and in my view the above comments can be taken two ways - one the negative 'you're a wuss' way or a positive 'it would have been great if you were with us 'cos it was fun, shame you weren't'. That is usually clear from tone of voice and your interpretation may be the correct one in that situation, but commenting that someone should have come doesn't always mean that the person making the comment thinks the other one is a wuss. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion.
