I think I finished my A around jump 42. I was more concerned with taking my time to learn, perform, and understand the requirements than just rushing through the A card. I got my B about 4 weeks after my A. Yeah jumping in the cold sucks. Yes, you should be able to finish your A license at a different drop zone. If you are going to travel, be sure and work it out with the drop zone you are going to so they know to have someone qualified available to work with you. Just dont stress out about it so much that youre not enjoying your jumps. Theres nothing wrong with taking your time to complete license requirements.

I seriously doubt there is a "number one" drop zone... they've all got a different flavor and have strengths and weaknesses. Besides, its really the skydivers that "make" the dz. I've only visited a few.. Best place for new jumpers to feel welcome and learn from more experienced jumpers without feeling like a huge loser... Tennessee Skydiving Center. Same category, worst place.. ASC, Cedartown. Skydive San Marcos has great facilites, friendly staff and up-jumpers, and a nice big landing area. And its near Austin.. the coolest part of Texas. (or would that be hottest?

Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry to hear that... As skydivers, (and just as people), we have to deal with grief and loss quite often, and it always seems to gang up on you when you've had about all you can handle. Doug, the prizes are not the most important thing. But yes, they will be cool. And you wont know if me jumping out of a cake in a french bikini is one of the prizes unless you come to the boogie make some jumps to win a prize in the raffle..

I met a fellow skydiver who is male, straight, and a flight attendent for SWA when I was flying in to or out of San Antonio, I think. I was wearing my closing pin necklace and we had a nice little chat. What does being a flight attendant have anything to do with being gay? I think that if you like to fly/travel that much and your other responsibilities allow for that, go for it if you want to. However, keep in mind how traveling that much would interfere with your post whoring...

Ahh! Stop it! You are making me so much more homesick for Texas! Its about to get COLD here in Tenn. I jupmped SSM's King Air back in June.. it was lovely.. sorry that its gone now (must not quit job and move back to Texas.. must not quit job and move back to Texas... )
