  1. Go to the Cook Islands, they speak english. It's not far from Tahiti 400-500 miles. The island of Aitutaki is what Bora Bora was before expensive hotels and polution.
  2. I hope it is BS too, I would like to see Terry win also, he deserves to win. I've watched every one of the Survivor series and applied for it for seasons 2-7 but didn't get picked.
  3. According to the odds makers it was leaked that Danielle won, by someone associated with Survivor, and they stopped taking bets at all. We will see this week.
  4. One of the DZ there has a bunk house on the beach, I think it is Pacific, now Skydive Hawaii.

This is the first day of jumping, has anyone heard any news yet? Practice and smaller formations for a few days then the 400 ways start. Please post any news. Thanks
  6. I went on it as a kid! It was great, got me interested in skydiving early on. I came to find out much later it's nothing like skydiving.
  7. Across the Colorado River into a different state! Only about a mile though.
  8. Yoy will need a car, San Jose Del Cabo is quite a ways from Cabo San Lucas. Don't know how much taxi fare is but the airport is near San Jose Del Cabo and at least 20 miles from Cabo.
  9. I believe that is in San Diego. The one nearest Point Loma.
  10. Backseat of a Mooney 201, autopilot on over Baja Mexico betweenMulege and La Paz at 7,500 ft. That qualifies as "mile high club"!
  11. Not on yet on the west coast but I will watch it. Thanks!
  12. That's Angie Everhart, she was with Sly Stalone for many years. She is a good Freeflyer. I have seen her at Perris many times but not in the last few years. Many times when they sign contracts they can't do "extreme stuff".
  13. Here's a picture from my house at sunrise. Fog coming up the pass to the right.
  14. Drafted in the Army in 1969, at 20. My last name started with R so all the R's went to Artillery MOS. Again all the lastnames begining with R went to Vietnam, then 149 out of a battery of 150 went to Vietnam. Thirteen months there then discharge to inactive reserves.
  15. The DZ is the one in San Diego at Otay Lakes.
  16. Every time you leave the plane you are going to die, unless you do something to prevent it happening. You either throw out that pilot chute, pull that reserve and land safely. The only exception is maybe a Cypress, but even then without your intervention a small canopy can spell disaster. That's an intrigal part of skydiving, and what makes it safer, is your doing the right things to land safely. You have your life in your hands, (with the help of some good equipment), on every jump.
  17. It got mine, I went with Plasmodium and it got to Malaria, pretty close.
  18. There are two UCDS hospitals in the San Diego Area. UCSD in the Hillcrest area and also one in La Jolla.
  19. Well if it didn't work....What a way to go.
  20. Why do skydivers do that? I still do on occasion when I get a decent cart, and I'm over 50! To change a line from Winston Churchill "Never grow up, Never grow up, Never grow up".
  21. Rosa, Under Armour is 100% polyester (except maybe the winter versions) $50. Wal-Mart has their brand X which is also 100% polyester for $14. I have both and they feel the same to me. The logo, although cool is expensive.
  22. Happy Birthday Kate. It's not the years that matter, it's how we live the next, and next and many more years to come. When I was your age I still had 5 more years to go before learning to skydive (how depressing it that).

Val, if you like living in a city with everything, San Diego. Good weather, beach, great resturants (even a hooters) and four DZ's within an hours drive.
  25. Thanks. US Army Vietnam 1969-1970 Artillery forward observer.
