  1. Here are some photos of the first-generation of the contour box by 2KC. Looks great to me...and they are working on refining it a bit. We're looking to get a full stock of these in as soon as possible. Seems to be another great mounting option for this camera. Mike ChutingStar.com
  2. Here are Trunk's mounts: http://www.chutingstargear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=57_59&products_id=898. Mike ChutingStar.com
  3. Yeah, Trunk, who manufacturers them, is out until the end of April beginning of May. Sounds like some manufacturing/supply delays. So your best bet is to try calling every dealer on his list as you might find one who still has one or two on their shelf. We sold our last one a few days ago...and have had 100 on order for awhile now to replenish our stock...but it'll be a few weeks until they arrive according to Trunk. It is what it is... 4. We just shipped one out last week. I'll see if I can get that skydiver to post his thoughts on the Cookie Vert glove here. Mike ChutingStar.com
  5. Couple of things I do: Try getting the washer started on the screw from the underside where you can see the angle correctly. Or I'll keep the proper angle of the washer in my hand as I slowly twist the screw until it catches. Sometimes you'll find one side of the washer has an easier start than the other, so work to figure that out before connecting it through the helmet. Hope that helps, Mike ChutingStar.com
  6. I've been jumping Dolphin rigs on/off for the past 10 years, and the new Dolphin containers are definitely freefly friendly. Altico has added sufficient bridle and pin protection, tuck flaps that stay closed when needed, and open well during deployment, and the company will add some "bling" such as stainless steel hardware now. Anywho, we sell several a year, and the skydivers that buy them freefly in them without issue...including me. Older Dolphins, prior to 2000, aren't freefly friendly. And no, they don't have as much padding or color options. And the resale value is usually very low. But the Dolphin is still a great choice for a container for many skydivers. And you can't beat the customer service from the owner. Mike ChutingStar.com
  7. The Rawa Image (without a box) works just fine as your basic open face helmet with a chincup. It also has two audible pockets. You can either leave that helmet as is forever...or you can add top and/or side mount cameras/boxes later. Side-mount boxes for the Rawa Image helmets have to be a Rawa box as their boxes match the slight curve to the side of their helmet. Top-mount boxes can be Rawa boxes, or any other brand. And you'll want to jump it without a box for now. Adding a box later on isn't too difficult. The boxes will come with mounting screws. And most drop zones have a vidiot who can help with mountings and/or dealers who sell Rawa helmets/boxes can mount them for you later. Mike ChutingStar.com
  8. We've installed the Bonehead Cutaway mod kit or the SkySystems cutaway mod kit on Cookie's standard force chincup in the past. This would be another option to Cookie's ringed cutaway system. Mike ChutingStar.com
  9. No military discount currently from PD. Mike ChutingStar.com
  10. Saw the box and cage last night for the CX110/150. Look great! Much slimmer than the CX100. We should have them in a few weeks. Would love to see what Terry has too. Mike ChutingStar.com
  11. And I think this is where we found units that are still "airworthy" but still showing "NOW." The manual you are quoting states at "6 months after the due date," which ends up being that last month where it is still technically in the window. I can verify with Airtec and SSK on Monday, be we've had a couple of units come up with the NOW...and then calculated the plus 6 months, and found it in the last month of the window. So it is possible to show the NOW, but still be useable. You would have to check the DOM of the unit to know for sure. Mike ChutingStar.com
  12. The manual does not always tell the whole story. Units inside the window will show NOW. I believe it is in the last month that it is due. We have had this issue come up before at our loft and at our drop zone. After looking back at the DOM, we found that the NOW did come up just before it was "overdue." On Monday, someone on here can call Airtec or SSK to verify. Or maybe I can find one of those units at those parameters in our shop this weekend. Mike ChutingStar.com
  13. The NOW that can come up on a Cypres2 does mean that the service is due, but does not necessarily mean it is overdue. You would need to check the DOM of the unit to see if it has actually surpassed the 4 years + 6 months window of when the service is due. The NOW does come up before that window is complete...as well as if you are past that window. The DOM is usually listed on the packing data card and/or can be found through the unit's display during startup. Mike ChutingStar.com
  14. Would love to attend, but will have 4 senior rigger candidates taking the FAA Written test at that exact time here in Georgia...ironic, eh? Hopefully we'll be able to proceed to the oral/practicals that day, but...then again, the failure rate is part of the reason you're having this meeting so we shall see. Mike ChutingStar.com
  15. The Cookie CX100/105 Blackbox, CX500/520 Blackbox and CX100/105 Cage will not fit the CX110. Cookie tried that out and it won't fit. So they have started production on a new Blackbox and Cage for the CX110, which will be released in the upcoming weeks. Don't buy a CX100/105 Box or Cage hoping to fit a CX110 in it. It won't work (at least with Cookie's current box/cage size). Either buy a CX100/105...or wait for the CX110-specific box or cage. Mike ChutingStar.com
  16. NP-FV70 battery is the largest that will fit in the Cookie Blackbox for the CX100. Never heard of a 90 battery for the CX100, but the 100 doesn't fit. Mike ChutingStar.com
  17. Yes, some seem to do that, but these are usually minor, or less of an evil, than the damage from the metal link/grommet/bridle damage we see with the metal link setup. Do bring it by. Thanks! Mike ChutingStar.com
  18. Once it's completely closed like this, it's a bit hard to do, but that upper portion of the top flap needs to move over farther to the left (center). The added bulk at the top of the container on the right side is causing that flap to pivot/arc just above the grommet...which is causing the warp. The best way is to reduce the bulk in the ears during packing. An alternative/additional method is to keep that stiffener straight and in position as you close that right flap...and after. Pull, move, seat the top of the side flap closer to the center. This also will help with the lower wrinkles. If any issues after pinning the right flap, and can't get it to lie right, you have to go back one flap, redistribute the reserve pc fabric bulk as needed and close again. And then after closing the left side flap, you'll need to mold the rig as need to keep the proper shape and the stiffeners in their proper line and position. Well that's the quick and dirty...showing is easier with this one...there are other things that come into play, but that looks to be the issue from the photos. Mike ChutingStar.com
  19. For #4 and #5 grommets in the D-bag, we use a Reserve Slink to attach the bridle to the inside of the D-bag. The extra bulk of a Reserve Slink keeps it from pulling through. Don't think you could do this with a #6 grommet...but can't immediately think of any common sport D-bags with a #6 as standard...maybe just in a repair. And then if a link is needed to attach to the canopy, we use a main soft link as size doesn't matter there, just strength, and the main Slink is strong enough, and slightly cheaper. Edit to add: The Reserve Slink is threaded through twice (doubled) as if you were assembling it to lines/riser. Same with the Main Slink to the top of the canopy. Mike ChutingStar.com
  20. Any chance you were able to see or know if the CX110 will fit inside CX100 boxes currently available from Cookie and the like? Getting requests for boxes for those...but not sure yet if it will fit...holes in the same place, etc. Mike ChutingStar.com
  21. The main closing flap can be replaced fairly easily. Just order the new flap from Mirage using your serial number as a reference. Then you just have to find a rigger with a medium-duty straight stitch machine and a bit of experience on replacements/repairs such as this. But it's really just a few passes of a straight stitch that holds it on. It's a separate piece. Or send it to Mirage for the replacement. Mike ChutingStar.com
  22. As a matter of fact, yes, they are working to make it Flatlock-friendly. Cookie also says they will have prototypes and demos at the Skydive Expo. Mike ChutingStar.com
  23. It's definitely being worked on. It's just a matter of when they are happy with it...and when production will start. I'll see if I can get an update out of them...but it has been one of their Winter projects, along with the Atomic (which is now out). Mike ChutingStar.com
  24. We stock and order all our logbooks from Mike Truffer. He's still in business with the book service, but maybe was gone for the holidays and/or maybe he hasn't received your messages. His contact info is below. I also forwarded him the link to this thread.
