  1. What are you talking about? Are you saying one of our shuttles ran over your mailbox? Who are you? PS. Oh, I see. You're one of those people that hassled me over pulling a low-timer's badge at Bridge Day 2006. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.

  3. Huh? NPS and DOH were not happy with Bridge Day? Where did you come up with that, because the NPS has always disliked BD? Off-season busts will never affect BD, period. Yep, Monday's busts are making the AP wire. Must be a SLOW news week. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.

The name in his profile clearly read Don Cribbs for quite sometime. That is why Sangiro posted the "impersonations" thread last week, which is now gone for some reason. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.

I agree with Space. Base_rigger only knew how to spew hatred and insults. I did a little research of my own regarding who Base-rigger really is. He can change his name, but it's hard to change the words he uses. His alleged real name has been mentioned by others numerous times so far ("NickNitro" - Nick Rugai). If we're all wrong about this, then I'm sure he'll let us know. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.

    #33 . . .

Here's a photo of Theresa. It's an old scan of a 4x6 photo. I might have more pictures and video, but I'll have to dig deep for them. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.

No problem, Nick. My copyright thingy is only meant to scare the gullible media. I'll see if I can find a pic or two of Theresa and post, if that's appropriate. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.

    #33 . . .

Sadly, I found out about Theresa's death only a few days after I sent her a Christmas card in the mail back in 1995. This was the first time I knew a BASE jumper who died and it made me think twice about the sport. What hurt the most was when Theresa's relatives went through her mail and eventually found my Christmas card. They called me and we talked for awhile. I told them about a recent jump we were on. It was a heart-wrenching phone call. On that 1995 Christmas card was a photo Theresa took of me standing at the top of El Cap only a few months before her death. We both jumped El Cap and I got to see what a unique person she was. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.
  9. Thanks for the explanation. If a jumper has no medical or rescue insurance, would they be wasting their money on the Air Glacier Insurance? (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.
  10. Mick, Please remove me from your DJ mailing list. I never signed up for it in the first place. Automated removals didn't work and you obviously didn't read the email I sent you where I asked you to remove me from your list. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.
  11. Does anyone here have experience with X-LARGE trampolines (greater than a 7'x14' bed)? A company called Trampoland used to sell 7'x22's, but they are now out of business. It's a long shot, but I have some technical questions for anyone with expert trampoline jumping experience or trampoline design. I'm also trying to locate anyone who has sewn trampline beds. My 7'x14' folding trampoline is getting old, so I'm designing a 12'x22' or 14'x22' version for myself. A rough, early Solidworks sketch is attached (final assembly will be foldable). Thanks. 12. Sadly, I got a PS3 today as well. I'm not a gamer, but I thought it'd be cool to see if I could snag one. After seeing lines form 2 days prior, I managed to find a Target store that wasn't permitting lines until 10pm Thursday. I got there at 9:30pm and ran to the front door with 35 others at the right time. I was #7 in line and they only had 8 systems. My brother, who was #10 in line, elected to spend the night there. We picked up the system today at 8am. It's on Ebay, but if it doesn't sell, I'll keep it. Man, I was way too old to be racing those college guys to the front door, so you just have to be smart and not wait for the whistle. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.
  13. I've been to three helicopter boogies at ITW since 1999 and unfortunately witnessed the first fatality there in 2000. We did a record 10-way there in 2000, which was broken a few years later. The risk of a 30-way is too great. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.
  14. Finally, I'm not alone. I've been telling my friends and family members for years that traffic lights cause congestion, increased fuel consumption/pollution, and driver stress. Of course, they all laugh at me. Drivers would spend less time on the roads, thereby reducing congestion and making commutes safer. There is NEVER a long wait at intersections with blinking lights. Unfortunately, my city's solution to ANY traffic problem is the addition of another stop sign or traffic light. Dumb. PS. Lucky: You need a mobile DVR and lipstick cameras in your car. I've had mine wired up and recording for the last six months and love it. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.
  15. Blacklist? Never. However, if I happened to know any of the jumpers that were involved, I'd like to email or call them and explain that we all participate in a sensitive, misunderstood, and dynamic sport. Since BASE jumping is so controversial, it won't take many more incidents (jumping or otherwise) for the "safety freaks" to take our freedoms away. Keep in mind that the Potato Bridge is one of the few legal bridges in the world. That means you guys should behave better in Twin Falls than most other places. I'd also like to let the Iowa guys know that my friends and I would like to visit the Outback during our next TF visit, and I don't want to have to hide my "base jumper" clothing in order to get service. It takes a long time to open new objects, but only a few short seconds to lose them. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.
  16. The BASE community can sit here and complain all day about situations like this, but nothing will change unless our "self-policing" sport does something about it. Please post their names here so all will know who they are. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.

    NRGB Steel?

First of all, there is a substantial amount of steel below the bridge. I'll try to find out exactly how much, but you cannot accurately correlate the height of the steel based on freefall delays. Other factors: -Our ramp system is about 9' above the road deck. -Rappelling ropes are approximately 150' to your right on opening. Slider up PCA openings aren't as reliable as slider down PCA's. -Exit point is approximately 50-60' off of bridge center. -I have seen PCA's hit both the NRGB and the Jolly Green bridge. -I have seen people hit the NRGB in freefall. I know what you're searching for. I think a better approach would be PCA's from the catwalk or lower. We are researching this as well. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.

  21. You lied about your experience to rent gear from Apex. You told Apex that you had 155 jumps and you told us you had 50+. How can I trust that you met OUR requirements if you're lying to others? Apex would have pulled your gear if I hadn't pulled your badge. I already explained why you got "canned" Thursday on the phone and Friday in person, so why are you asking again? This is first time I heard that one. But everytime you make up a new excuse for having your jump pass revoked, it further strengthens our decision. I have received ZERO calls and ZERO emails from you since Bridge Day. Phone number is 304-203-8500 and email is: jbell(AT)vertical-visions(DOT)com. Wrong. You went to the media, and then when you couldn't jump, the AP reporter that was following your progress called me. I simply told the reporter that we questioned your credentials and nothing else. But if you want to hash it out here, I can accommodate you. I don't approach the media about issues like this, sorry. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.

  23. Base rigger, Information was brought to our attention that enabled us to pull the WV girl's badge. No one came to us about Brian, including Jean Boenish who later said he shouldn't have jumped. There were NO red flags. BASE jumping at Bridge Day isn't rocket science. Sorry, but we don't hold everyone's hand at Bridge Day. We don't pack your chute. We don't know if you lied to us about your experience. Have you ever even been Bridge Day? Are you even a BASE jumper? Why do you hide your name? (c)2010 Vertical Visions. BD 2006: Pictures

Here are the official pics from the guys in the crane basket and LZ: http://www.leisuresportsphoto.com Also, Sports Illustrated has some pics on their website that were captured by a photographer/jumper: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0610/gallery.base.jumping/content.1.html (c)2010 Vertical Visions. 25. I don't want to get into details, but certain information was brought to our attention and we pulled her badge immediately. She may have had more then 50 jumps, but there were other important factors that forced us to revoke her jumping pass. (c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted.
