This wil be my last post about this unless an earthquake happens here in NZ around the 20th of March. But to reierate why I have mentioned all this. and why it is relevant; Ken predicted the September eathquake in christchurch, it was a 7.2 no deaths (fortunately) he was called an idiot. He also predicted the february (6.4) earthquake, was called an idiot again and now a couple of hundred people are dead. The eathquake fits his timeline freakishly. new Zealand is in the roaring forties and is a temperate climate. It can be really rainy in january, or really dry, same goes for February, March, April, May June, July, August, Septemeber, October, November and you guessed it, December. it can snow in summer and be 30 degrees in winter. our mountainous and windy country can be wet on one side and dry on the other and it is only a couple of hundred k's wide. anyhoo, you think he is full of shit, so do many people here, many also back him. the difference is that Ken uses the solar system and its movements rather than historical data. he prints maps with isobars and pinpoints the high and low pressure systems. Does you farmer almanac do similar? or just temepoeratures etc... The method the old farmers use sounds more like the method the scientific community uses to predict eathquakes.... And to reiterate, I don't necessarily beleive him, but he is 'more' accurate than those that get millions in funding. fuck. Whatever he is, he has the ability to print synoptic charts over a year ahead of schedule that are surprisingly accurate when the time comes around. Ha ha, I have been listening to that for the last 2 weeks here. Yet he predicted both of the recent CHCH earthquakes and the scientific community just sits and watch the seismograph waiting. The sunspots are apparently correlated with the large gas Giants Jupiter and Saturn, so when he talks about sun spots he refers to the position of these large planets and more importantly (to us) their effect on our planet. Planets and earthquakes The Geonet guys and MS science guys get massive funding to record seismic activity yet dismiss all this stuff. They also fail to predict anything other than predictions based on what has happened in the past, not what is happening now. Ken Ring has theories publishes them and make predictions backed with sound explainable prinicpals. He is not the only one. And the Earth is between Jupiter and Saturn for the next little while. After the recent earthquake here in NZ there has been quite a stir from a local weather predictor. He predicted the last earthquake based on moon perigee and earth moon distance as well as sun spot activity. I am on the fence on the issue but the New Zealand community is divided on the issue. How is this relevant to this. I know several people with his weather Almanac and you will be surprised how close his synoptic forecast charts are to the situation charts posted in the newspaper on the day. I have stocked up with canned food and got a multi fuel cooker. If nothing happens, bonus but it if does we will be relatively prepared. I am watching footage of the Japan EQ and gee whiz, that is some shocking footage. My heart goes out to those in Japan, the toll of human life taken will be massive. Not sure, one of them is in the USA not too sure on your rules though. The others are in australia and new zealand, but these are just the companies i have experience with, there are over 300 dz's in north america and most of those are in the US. I reckon Icarus and Precision (among others) sell a fair few tandem canopies (main and reserve) in the USA, just read the threads on those particular canopies and see the US TM's that state they use them. Are you talking about realxstream copying your work? If not, can you please explain what you mean... You really need to check out realxstream. This program is designed for people like you. It is very, very easy and fast, no complicated skills required. It takes about 2 minutes to set up each video. Then you can start on the next project. It will produce your DVD and upload it to the web, then send an email to the customer thanking them and supplying them to a link of the video. The video us hosted by RXT and you can have a wigit (that they supply) so the customer is watching it on your website along with all their friends. This is very beneficial for DZ's that jump predominately local people as the freinds of the customer willbe directed to your website to see the action, not youtube!!! This is great for marketing and search engine optimisation for your company. The actual time to have the dvd in your hand depends on the speed of your computer, it takes us about 13 minutes using a 8gb ram computer. But for 11 of those 13 minutes we are doing other things while RXT does everything. We can queue up 3 projects in 5 minutes. Go do a load and when we get down thy are all good to go. Very easy. Considering the major tandem manufacturers (UPT and Strong) sell containers to tandem factories that they know do not use their canopies, they are still at legal risk even if they stipulate that only their canopies must be used,as it is plainly obvious that they still supply their products to companies that ignore their reccomendations. I know of quite a few DZ's that purchase MANY containers from UPT and Strong and do not buy thier mains. So if a company is buying 20 containers every couple or few years and no main canopies, or reserve canopies for that matter, the manufacturer is knowingly providing the end user with a product that they know is not being used to their requirements. A hard call, one DZ I know has 70 sigmas and not one sigma main; all Icarus! Is UPT going to stop selling 70 Sigma container and harness systems to this company every couple of years? I think not, I know another comapny that get custom strong harneses containers (fuck knows why) with their logo etc, they must have purchased 100 strong containers and only a couple of set canopies over a decade ago. Will Strong stop selling them their custom containers knowing that Hop 330's are going in them? I think not. Reality (money) always conquers the pipe draem that the manufactrers can decide what canopes go in their containers. They would be too worried about losing their biggest contracts to do so. Some European or Asian manufacturer could then step in and take all their business of them because they got greedy. Personally, I don't think Icarus or Jojo wings have anything to worry about. Strong need to learn how to design a desent canopy before imposing/enforcing such aa rule anyway. Set canopies are Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! Thanks guys, my mind is at ease now. I have this aloe vera drink that I like, I have been having a swirl or two of that after high altitude loads. Seems to help alot, I am breathing through my nose more now also. Hi, I did a bit of a search but did not find any information specific to my query. I have been doing quite a few jumps from 15k and 18k lately and we use oxygen every time we go above 12k. I have been noticing my throat has been scratchy and my work collegues have noticed similar effects and dry sinuses. I tend to breath more with my mouth so have not noticed any sinus issues. Just wondering if anyone here (potentially in the medical field) may know about any long term bad effects this may cause. Our 18k jumps are very popular and we seldom even jump at 12k on some days. I might put my oxygen on a little later to help a bit but I also don't want the tiredness from not using it enough. We have a -27 porter so we usually only have it on for 4-8 minutes but 7-8 times a day equals about 3/4 of an hour + on oxy each working day. Can't complain too much though, I got 85,000 feet of freefall today out of 7 jumps (5 x 18k and 2 x 15k). But it does concern me that over time this may have an adverse effect on my health. I half agree with you and half disagree. For example lets look at a small thin person on a 120 (whatever canopy you like) compared to a wide shouldered person on the same canopy. Assuming the canopy was designed well enough to allow it to open to its intended dimentions with the slider at the links then the smaller person would gain more performance by opening their chest strap to allow the canopy to have the same shape as the person with the wide shoulders. why? because the narrow shoulders of the smaller person will bring the risers closer together than the larger pilot but if they open their chest strap the canopy will then beallowed to be the shape it wants to be. Some canopies have small sliders and there is great benefit in pulling the slider down the risers, if the slider is still restricting the canopy when pulled down to the confluence wrap then that slider is too small and the manufacturer should be contacted. The lineset determines how wide the risers need to be for optimal flight performence, and anything be it the slider or your chest strap that restricts the canopy from opening to its desired point is reducing he performance of the canopy. If you have a 3 metre long chest strap the canopy will not continue to flatten out as you keep lengthening the strap, as the width of the harness then restricts it from flattening out any further. I open mine until there is some slack in the strap. If the is lateral tention in your slider it needs to come down or needs to be bigger (wider) and if there is tention in your chest strap it needs to be opened or lengthened. Let your canopy tell you what it wants. Does it matter so much if the canopy is not s flat as it could be? Probably not in many cases. But does it reduce the performance of the canopy... certainly.
