  1. I was under the impression that it was quite automated, I tried using PA and VP as a demo after watching DSE's you tube presentation on how it works. I was given the impression that once a PA template is set up then that is it? what input is needed each time you make a video. after the initial setup. do you have to give input to render and again to burn? When using rxt we simply mark the interview clips, mark the freefall clip and enter the email address. this takes about 1-2 minutes of input for each video and we can queue up several vidoes at once. It seem it is about the same time for me to produce a dvd from inserting the sd card as you (10-16 minutes) using a quad core i5 processor. but for 8-14 of those minutes I can be doing something else or making the next vid. burning is taken care of by clicking the publish button. this also sends them a link to thier video hosted online. So how long to make 3 dvd's then? with how much (in time) input? We can make 3 dvd's and uploads in about 30 minutes with less than 8 minutes input. I am curious of the difference as the workflow seems quite different. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  2. It is your perogative to decide that I am lying, i am not. If you would care to explain how my story hs changed that would be appreciated, otherwise keep your unprofessional and unwarrented accustions to yourself. I cannot comment on whether or not the technical team was contacted. All I can say is they had unforseen problems, they appear to have resolved the problems and they decided to drop vegas as it did not suit their needs and did not perform as promised. I have not changed my story. It shits me to tears that you utilise you status as a moderator push your own products, while mocking others and accusing them of copying you and your (self proclaimed) awesomeness. You threaten people (including myself) with legal action based on false assumption. Vegas pro and production assistant are probably very very good products, the reviews are good, that does not make them the best for everyones needs, nor does it make other products any less functional or suitable. 3. Ok so a rigger that I will let remain anonymous had given me a link to the bulliten released by airtec on the issue. as well as other information. http://www.cypres.cc/images/stories/storypictures/service_bulletin_april_2008_e.pdf Ah ha! so what was the date when the company that informed airtec that the sensors were faulty and what was the date of the incident, I cannot be too sure but that information is out there. Also Nobody got hurt; are you fucking kidding me, Andre was shitting out of another hole in his anus, he was out of work for weeks and his passenger was bruised up pretty bad too. It should say 'one was a tandem and they were lucky to not be very seriously injured', what a bunch of lies!! I have also been informed that it is not uncommon for cypres issue threads to simply dissapear off this website, If anyone remembers any threads about cypres mishaps that they cannot find anymore please let us all know about it. the thread about andres cypres fire is not there anymore, maybe i overlooked but it seems it has been deleted and there is only one reason why that would have been done. This whole thing is rather fishy. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  4. \ considering I played no part in editing (thankfully) the story I get is mixed, there was not so much a problem in the end with the softwre working, just with the time it was taking and what was promised. as i mentioned an extra 3 minutes per video will equate to another staff member needed at such a busy DZ... This was the problem in the end I beleive, there were problems at first with using the software that were resolved I beleive. but speed is key. the macks were simply faster, not sure what program though. You use go pro, and vegas, how long from inserting your SD card to having a burned DVD? and how much input is required? can you do multipule projects simultainiously on one computer? 5. FIFY I was going to publish the name of the company and was really close to doing so, but I do not want you to go and schmooze them and take away from sales of another software company. I am not lying about this, you are insinuating that I am, and that sony/vasst is aware of all the problems all the consumers of thier products are having... well they are not. They have/had 4 i7 computers with vegas installed sitting there doing nothing. Speed was the issue, they can do over 200 tandems in a day with 70%+ video sales. When you get behind in 150 videos, it gets expensive sending them out... 150 x 3 minutes equals 7.5 hours of labour to pay that was not needed before. Equals and extra staff memebr needed. I beleive it may have been an issue with 'speed' using mp4 go pro footage. but don't quote me on that. You should be able to narrow it down if you know the industry... They may have resolved the issue now for all I know, it was a year ago, but for a company that had alot of money and a IT guy on it full time for a week, they did not end up using it very long at all. They went back to their equally expensive macintosh computers. Time is the biggest factor in an operation like that. Or they trialled it first... or you got it wrong, they are not in New Zealand... so get you reserch straight and keep yourself off the wild goose chases. You sure do like throwing accusations out there don't you? Or is it that you don't like being less than perfect? You think a company would spend over 20k on computers and skimp on a software??? 6. I have seached and searched for the thread about it. with no luck. What I do remember is that there was a list of potentially effected units published... that was quite long. I discussed this with the ownr of argus at the world meet in France in 2008. This is where it becomes relevant to this thread... He told me he was informed by the company that produces a certain sensor (built in switzerland from memory) that is used in argus, vigil and cypres, that a batch of sensors were potentially faulty. He sent back the sensor units and halted production in the meantime.... shortly after that, the incident I am talking about happened... So did airtec let a bunch of faulty units go out when they had been informed about a potential danger??? That is pure speculation but it sure seems that way. The timing was close and the cypres that fired was new. What was fixed on the recalled units? I bet airtec arent willing to say... If any of the riggers out there remeber when a list of affected cypres 2 units was published then this may help find the thread about it, I have looked. It was around 2008 from memory but not too sure... I just remember asking my buddy all the time what airtec had to say about it.... absolutely nothing... He could have died along with his passenger. If the results of the tests that are putting Argus units into question are not being released to the public or to aviacom, and the manufacturers of certain systems are banning the use of Argus units based on information that is not available, and all the while aviacom are not being issued with the information to assist them in resolving any potential issue. Then this moves away from safety and into the realm of corruption and monopolisation. All at the expense of the skydiving community. There is alot more of this type of conduct going on than we are lead to beleive. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  7. Making AAD's mandatory was stupid. I am lucky to not have to use one, I am not totally opposed to them but to be forced to use a device that can fail is not just. We should have aa choice. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  8. I remember contributing to that discussion so it is there somwhere, I have had a look but cannot seem to locate it, I will continue to look. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  9. Then don't comment at all. I'm not sure if you are commenting on me, but I never said you don't know what you are talking about, in fact I respect your understanding of this type of thing. but your smugness and attitude towards anything other than what you endorse lets you down. To be clear, I have tried using vegas pro and PA and watched your rant on how to use it, but it failed to work. there maybe some simple oversight on my part but that was not explained by you. I also know a dropzone that purchased 4 very powerful PC's with i7 and vegas pro, they had ALOT of trouble and with limited after purchase assistnce they failed to get it to work well for them, they went back to useing thier old system. I simply wanted clarification, and you simply weren't willing to give it. and insinuating that I am a wanker is much less than professional. 10. I see the cat let go of your tounge, so will you mind explaining in your own words who is copying your work... I certainly am interested. If not then retract your comment. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  11. So the cutter should be moved to the bottom of the tray. Probem solved. This happened on a tandem at 1000 feet flying slowly around. the unit failed, it caused a 2 out at around 500 feet, the decision was made to land the 2 out as the risers of the main could interfere with the reserve. The downplane began shortly before flare and resulted in a very hard impact. This was on a beach with soft wet sand. if it was on asphelt the would have been very seriously injured. AIRTEC failed to reply to his email(s) they just swept it under the carpet. the unit was sent back to them.. the resluts???? Nothing. Will this happen again? we cannot be sure. So in a nutshell, we are told that an AAD should not be expected to work, it is a back up device so if it fails to cut the loop and that results in a locked reserve container it is not only the aad manufacturers problem but the harness manufacturers problem. If an AAD fires at 1000 feet, well after the main is depolyed then that can also kill someone. Don't try to pretend a 2 out is a simple problem that we should be all good with... The fact of the matter is that Cypres failed, it could have killed 2 people, and nothing was done about it... vigils would fire when a door was opened at 1000 feet, how many places do that? they could have killed a whole plane load.... ban all of them I say! 12. Yes, I have been threatened with a lawsuit from one based on false assumtion on his part, and when his mistake was realised, he went ahead and removed the concerned posts to cover his tracks. He also threatened another and accused them of breaching intellectial property laws while assuming falsly that I was involved.... he sure does have chip on the shoulder. More recently some of my posts were removed without warning or reason because they contradicted what the moderator in question has been pushing to all his little bum buddies and where he makes money from the advanced advertising rights of a greenie. Then he threatened to ban me for reposting the valid question I was asking. Turns out the accusations were all quite hypocritical. He was also putting little laugh {} smily next to his threats, he thoughroughly enjoys the abuse of his power. I do respect his product knowledge and based on that he deserved to gain the moderator status but the power has gone to his head and he needs a little humbling to pull his head in a little. But that is just my opinion. I will not post the name here to avoid being banned. But feel free to PM me if you wish to know. 13. By that rationale, all cypres 2 should be grounded, and vigils. NONE of the AAD manufacturers have a squeaky clean record and when my friend was almost killed by a cypres 2, and they failed to give him any reason, apology or any contact at all, makes me wonder how often thtis has happened and gone unoticed before. My firends' Cypres 2 fired at 1000 feet minutes after deployment, his reserve deployed and just before landing went into downplane at 20 feet, he hit hard and ripped a new asshole. If it had have happened at 100 feet and he died, what would have happened then...? What has changed in Cypres 2 units since that incident....,NOTHING! I am not defending argus as i don;t know enough about them but knowing Airtec would rather sweep potential fatality under the carpet.... So an argus failed once or twice, do they fail always? What is the difference between a cutter failing or a unit firing when it shouldn't? NOTHING, they both could cause death or both could equate to nothing. I would sure rather a cutter failing than one firing when I am trying to approach. SHAME ON AIRTEC for ignoring Andre and his request for answers. A simple sorry would have sufficed. 14. It seems that he is incorrect then, according to the statements from these other guys that are using the other programs available. PA has its own workflow. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  15. What a Load of rubbish. Aviacoms problem is that they we honest about their problems and tried to address them publicly, while airtech and vigil were closed door, sweep it under the carpet. I know of a couple of cypres incidents where the unit fired for no reason under canopy, my friend that was almost killed by a cypres 2 asked airtec what the problem was.... NO ANSWER... Not even any sorry or anything...NOTHING Vigil had many many units fire out of thier supposed parameters..... I am fortunate to be under a part 149 that does not make AAD's mandatory, I jump without one on my own gear. The original cypres was reliable but none of the new ones are reliable enough to say thay are any better than the others. All this is, is the manuafcturers eliminating competition. If Cypres or Vigil are so great that they can remain, then they had better start explaining to us comsumers WTF happened when thier units failed. I used to respect Cypres/Airtec as the reliable company, but since my friend (and his passenger) was almost killed by one of their cypres 2 (Tandem) units and they failed to even give him an explanation or evan an apology of what heppened and nothing was reported here or anywhere about it. This made me lose my respect and trust for any of them. They didn;t even bother to contact him AT ALL. From what I have witnessed it the aviacom have tried to be open and honest about thier development and this has been used by the other companies that have tried to sweep any of thier own problems under the carpet, to get rid of competition. Nothing to do with safety, just money. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  16. I agree entirely, I did static line and my first 5 jumps were all about flying a parachute. In AFF there can be too much emphasis on the free fall and the student gets guided in by radio never actually taking on the skill entirely. There should be a minimum canopy accuracy to achieve a license, and packing currency should be checked on every license level. It astounds me to see experienced skydivers never packaging their own parachutes. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  17. Same as jumping out of a plane in the first place really, with your attitude I am surprised you condone jumping at all. One signature allowing it and you will be all for it.... "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  18. Nah not in NZ, I was talking about Australia, I did one in Wollongong when they were trialling them there, I have since moved on to my own venture. But they are doing them every full moon now! Under the part 149 that regulates our DZ, we are not allowed to do night tandems but there is another in NZ that does allow. It all comes down to paperwork and having the right equipment. 19. I caught wind of this a week or so ago, and kept my mouth shut as I didn't know how settled or secret it was; but considering NZAerosports have it on their facebook page in a very official looking document LOL, then I guess it is all out in the open. I am at an airport and this computer won't allow me to open facebook to retrieve the link but it is there for you to see. Ted Strong and Jyro have signed a deal licensing the Icarus Tandem design for Strong Enterprises to use in their tandem systems. At last you american strong DZ's will legally be able to use a decent canopy.... A good deal for Ted and Gyro... well done guys. 20. A photo every second... how exciting so now they will get 2 million phots insteatd of one, great. Isn't that a bit over the top? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

  22. How many of these programs are there out there now. I use RXT and have heard of swooperware and perrigrene but have no exerience with them what so ever. Are they very similar to production assistant? I prefer to get rid of the timeline altogether, as long as you can snip bits out that you don't want and blend them together smoothly then all good. If the idea is to be automated, then it might as well be that. The less input necessary, the better. 23. I am sure glad New Zealand is nuclear free.... That is some disturbing shit, as if japan doesn not already have enough to worry about. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  24. but when the blind squirrel produces more nuts than the rest of the squirrels put together... Even when the nay sayer quirells have all the tech gear and million dollar budgets... The blind squirrel has a talent. I guess people simply don't like having to re-think their thought processes, it makes them feel vunerable. Personally it makes me feel stronger. Anyway I have said I will not comment any more on this tangent, if others wish to do so (be it silly mockings or discussion), I will create another thread so we can keep this one for information pertaining to the current disaster. As devistating as the recent EQ(s) in chch have been and many still without water, electricity or sewers, the EQ and Tsunami in Japan is simply horrific and is up there on a global scale in history.
