  1. dumb as a rock? if you read michael moore's 'dude where's my country' you will learn all you need to know, every accusation has notes and sources you can check out to substanciate them! michael moore should be worshipped in your dictatorship of a country. i cannot believe that many people can be brainwashed into believing this chump(GWB)! he can't even lie very well! i shouldn't give a shit as i live on the other side of the world but his leadership brings great shame to your country world wide and unfortunately it effects us all! 2. your lense is quite wide for begining so you will have to be flying pretty close to keep the action in the footage. you must be flying pretty close though if you cut the tandem out of you footage! the trick to good framing is to fly the right distance and aim between the instructor and the passenger if you are in front and the customers head if you are slightly below and looking up!dont worry about you jump numbers you have plenty of experience tandem is the easiest most predictable thing to jump with! your camera should have plenty of effects to work with overlaps digital effects etc. and basic editing boards are cheap from an electronics store you just use your camera and a vcr with a md player etc. if you dock with the tandem try this, grab their right hand with your left (or vice versa) then drop you knees and you will pull the tandem around in circles! before you let go drive back in with your legs so you don't get flung away! it is a blast for everyone and it looks mean on the footage and the punter gets to get interactive which they love! remember to film the whole opening and track on your back while doing so. the main thing is to relax, have fun and not try 'too hard' any muppet can film tandems it just takes practice like every thing else! 5. i think it is going a bit o.t.t. saying skydivers are the most zen people in the world i'm sure ive been told that from a stoner snowboarder too, c'mon you were 'irie mon' werent you! skydivng was initialy a fun career option 4 me and has become a passion along the way! skydiving loses it's adrenilin action after 50 jumps if you ask me well you still do get your hits (especially deployment ) sometimesi think it's all about achieving what you planned thats my drawcard! 11. Quotehi, i did the 'diploma in commercial skydiving' in the 2nd intake 2002 and am currently working at NZONE queentown, when finished the course and work placement i was offered a job at the dropzone working for a wage just helping out in general, i was (and am) very enthusiastic about skydiving and was happy to empty rubbish bins, mow lawns and landing area, pack tandems on an houly wage, edit videosetc. the fact in the matter was that i was working on a dropzone and was learning very fast how everything works, 3 students from the previous course went through the same thing i did and were jumpin camera. i was told when i started work placement there was a possibility of a slot around april the next year, i arrived at nzone from the course with my 170 alocated jumps for the course and had 30 left to do at nzone while i was doing my chores if there was a slot available 'wicked'. i jumped my ass off for the summer( mostly tandem swoops) and purchased a helmet and camera (which by the way are half the price now than when i bought mine) and i could produce consecutive rolls of good photo's then we were told tha no slot was available until november,!? 'what' have all the camera slots been taken from the first intake of students? i wanted to jump camera now, no point in looking in new zealand so i emailed every dropzone in eastern australia and was offered a couple of camera positions the very next day i sold all my shit and bailed over to not earn very much but enough just to live and i was happy. 8 months later the slot came up for me at nzone and i am back home in beautiful queenstown earning a great living in queenstown "skydiving' The moral of the story if you are passionate the skydive diploma is a great way to get into the commercial skydiving industry but only if you are willing to pay the money up front (uless you are a kiwi or aussie who can student loan it) and are willing to earn bugger all for a couple of years, while living you life on a dropzone. there 'is' a decent living in camera alone if you are at the right dropzone we earn around the higher mark of the yearly incomes mentioned earlier in the fourum . i would be interesed to know how long it has taken other professionals to get into the industry i think we will find the diploma has been the record breaker "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
