  8. lets see: Bad weather Sat. untill about 5pm, but the beer light came on around 3. Sunday morning, about a dozen jumpers ready to go at 8 am. But manifest didnt open until 9. first load up 9:30 ish. It went down hill from there for me. Not even close to worth the (3500mile) effort to get there for me. Ben, the gypsy.
  9. I have effected my excape from Alaska. And am now at this moment in Jacksonville FL. The demo canopy i requested from Aerodyne is here and will be hooked up tomorrow morning. YEHAW! i'll be there. ben
  10. You are kidding right? When i was flying a 182 jump run speed was around 75mph. The caravan was a little faster at 90ish. Twin otters are slow too, 85mph. Ben
  11. Yeah SSM on TV baby! Too bad the Otter still had paint from its last home. But that is still one sexy plane they were jumping from. (the pilot is pretty talented too)

  17. I guess the PD Lightning 193 for sale in the classifieds will not do it. Ben
  18. My profile is about right. I will not be going any smaller than 190 any time soon. PERIOD. I work in Alaska now so i dont get to jump very often. So i dont expect to down size for quite a while. Yea, that was me at the star boogie. I'll be back in WA for a week in january. I may get down to Richland if i have the time. I can travel pretty cheaply with my job so i plan to visit FL in Feb. maybe March and April too. I have the first 15 day off of each month. Ben
  19. Ive been on 2 crew jumps now and had a blast. Id like to do more. Im about 190 without gear. And have been jumping a (borrowed) sabre 190. I need to buy a canopy so i thought "why not buy one thats good for CReW?" So, what kind of wing loading do Crew jumpers usually use? And do i need a crew specific conopy like a lightning to get invited on more crew jumps? Also, I may have the opertunity to travel a lot in 2006. Where can i go that has a lot of Crew going on and they like newbies? Ben
  20. I heard a rumor that there may be a bunch of Twin Otters for sale in Alaska soon. Ben
  21. You are right. Jumpers should be aware of the condition of the plane they are in. And they should be knowledgeable about aircraft operations and what to do in an emergency. I’ve just had some bad experiences with skydives who are terrified of airplanes. There are a few who I would never again let in a plane I was piloting. They know who they are. In a aircraft emergency a jumpers job is to: Shut up. Wait for instructions from the pilot. Get ready to jump or land with the plane. Ben.
