  1. Kind of a simplistic view. There are many very powerful families making absolute fortunes off the war efforts lead by Bush jr. How many of them are giving most of their money away to the homeless and needy? All the money spent on the war in Iraq could have done a lot of good in America itself and by all the information we have today, it is pretty clear that war was started on completely false pretenses and served absolutely no purpose in the war against terrorism. Maybe you should look in your own backyard before condemning others? Arafat skimmed aid money. That simply does not compare to a company that makes a product or provides some service to our military. HUGE difference. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. I think all foreign aid to the PA should depend on Arafat's wife/estate matching the money. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  3. I don't think there is a means to reduce the pressure below what it is outside. On the load I jumped (the first), the plane pressurized to -300 feet soon after closing up, including the time to taxi and take off. We stayed pressurized with the cabin altitude barely rising above 0 until about 8K, when we suddenly equalized, with a nice bit of fog for entertainment. I can't understand how they were not prepared to manage the internal pressure by manually controlling the outflow valves. I'd still like to know how long you'd have to stay at -300 before the unit might recalibrate to what it thinks is a new ground altitude. 4. What bullshit. GA resolutions are a dime a dozen, worthless. Arafat's negotiators left with a deal they recommended to him, but he could not agree. Dennis Ross, head of the US team helping the negotiations, has made it clear which side backed out after all the other parties thought it was settled. I wish I could find the text of some extended interviews that Mr. Ross gave concerning this subject exactly. I think I'll consider his take on events to be accurate for now. 5. How about... Wonderhog Workshop (blah blah whatever LLC) People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  6. You would never find a straight guy saying that. Maybe it is true that women are really all switch hitters. 7. Plan to lower the deficit? I think they would just spend the money differently. I give credit to the Repub congress for getting the deficit down in the '90s, not the Dem president at the time. Keep us out of wars? I think that we'd still be in a war, but just not fighting against those that declared war against us. Instead we would be asking what we could do to make up for all the wrongs of the past. Treat poor people better? I think you'll find that the welfare reform of the '90s has done a great deal of good for the poor. 8. Ahhh, the inquisition... 'IN THE EARLY YEARS OF THE SIXTEENTH CENTURY, TO COMBAT THE RISING TIDE OF RELIGIOUS UNORTHODOXY, THE POPE GAVE CARDINAL XIMINEZ OF SPAIN LEAVE TO MOVE WITHOUT LET OR HINDRANCE THROUGHOUT THE LAND, IN A REIGN OF VIOLENCE, TERROR AND TORTURE THAT MAKES A SMASHING FILM. THIS WAS THE SPANISH INQUISITION...' I always liked that summary... People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 9. Sounds really good to me. A lot of people here in Ohio did not like how much money was spent on the machines, but there was such an uproar to move to a modern system... 10. What I can't understand is can't the B-1 do everything the B-52 can? I designed some stuff for the B-1, so I'm a little biased. 11. The DNC doesn't need to commit fraud, they seek an advantage by getting as many marginal voters (criminals, aliens) eligible as possible. They need both to win, or I should say they need to do a better job of both to win. 12. The purpose is to draw a parallel between the beliefs in a deity beyond objective proof and beyond perception, with the belief common in young children that they have imaginary playmates. I am unable to see why the one belief is any more or less rational or more or less worthy of respect than the other, just because the believer is an adult rather than a child. If it upsets some to have this parallel drawn, then maybe they should ask themselves why they believe in the existence of something for which no objective proof exists. I understand that you don't get it. However, you should expect others to be offended by the "invisible friends" remark. Your "objective proof" reasoning will not matter to how it is received. If your intention is to insult, then you're doing it. If you had been living long ago, you might have the "objective proof" because you could have been a witness to the events of the time. Many famous scientists believe in God. Have they not heard your argument to set them straight? 13. I have this funny idea that being black made you more likely to be enslaved in the southern states. I also seem to have heard that voting rights were more likely to be denied if you had black skin, and that your kids had to go to inferior schools if you had black skin, and that you weren't allowed in the nicer restaurants or country clubs (well, except as a caddy) if you had black skin. Yes, I'm sure I heard something like that somewhere. So if reparations for injustice are due (a common feature of our litigious society) then the color of skin might be relevant. Billvon used the skydiver/tandem instructor analogy to compare against what people will think of minorities that engage in riots. Some leaders of the black community say that past oppression excuses the crimes committed now. They must get preferential treatment because of prior prejudice, it shouldn't matter if they are already wealthy or if any of their family was ever subject to the prejudice. Yes, I'm sure I heard something like that somewhere from their leaders. Skydivers have no such complaints about the majority persecuting them, so I think it is a lousy analogy. 14. What is funny is that Dems think they are so intelligent and only they have a sense of humor. Being a centrist (aka i stopped caring) I realized that the Reps have a crazy sense of humor when I saw the White House Correspondent Association Dinner (okay.. i saw it on google video but whatever). That was f'ing hilarious. Especially the part with Bush doing his speech with the impersonator next to him doing a different version of it. Quite right! I saw one of the correspondents doing a Helen Thomas impersonation, that was a riot! I think there really is a lot of difference between Dem and Repup philosophy and where each side would take the country and respond to the current challenges. I don't think the Dems are evil, I mostly think politicians want to do good, but they differ greatly on what the better place is and how to get there. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  15. You are quite wrong. Anyone can believe whatever they like and it's fine with me. HOWEVER, when the voices they hear tell them to start interfering with others, that is when I have no tolerance. Whether it's the Inquisition, the Islamic jihad, or lobbying to legislate away abortion rights and birth control. Did someone in this thread do such a thing to deserve the "invisible friends/I think you're stupid" insult? The ability to be "interfered with" by the laws of the nation where you live is not unusual and happens in all kinds of ways. Is it then OK to interfere with others if it is done for non-religious reasons? "Invisible friend" is not an insult - it's a statement of fact. If you disagree, tell me which god is unfriendly to his/her believers, and which god is visible to the human eye. Claiming that you "see God daily" is yet another redefinition of a word in the English language to mean something other than its accepted meaning, a habit common among the religious in order to make their beliefs sound rational. I have not written that anyone is stupid, you added that. I also find it offensive when someone on dz.com claims that others cannot be "a good person" if they don't believe in the correct myth, regardless of behavior. Now that is a decent analogy. I think that certainly is an insult. If the person making that claim asserts that it was not an insult, will that change how you receive it? If a person is offended by your "invisible friends" remark, I don't think that your assertion that it is not an insult will change how they receive it. You can say it wasn't your intention to insult (however I do believe it was your intention to insult), but I don't think you can change the fact that it was insulting to others, and I think many would also think that it would be considered so. Yes, I added the "you're stupid" part. I think you know very well that is how an "invisible friends" remark will be received by anyone that is faithful, as insulting ridicule. It is a clear expression of contempt. To deny that is not credible, in my opinion. You think it is just a statement of fact, but I think you know that others will not see it that way. I'm no biblical scholar, but I think the Old Testament says that God revealed himself to all at Mt. Sinai, not just Moses. Some argue that this claim is extremely important because they say there is no history of this claim being denied. I certainly don't want to discourage liberals from continuing their hostility toward those that believe in God. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  16. That is a really lousy analogy. Skydivers don't have their "communities" leadership make speeches about how society owes them reparations based on the color of their skin, or how the violent acts of their community is due to prior injustice. I don't understand why analogies are so important to your arguments, can't you explain your position about the current subject adequately? Perhaps because some don't agree, you think they can't understand, so an analogy is needed. 18. I thought production would continue (deliveries continue) for a while yet. Even though suppliers start shutting down before the final assy does, I thought there was some time. Even though the Airbus transport is smaller than the C-17, I would think the local product would be irresistable for European governments with any stake in the plane. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

  21. From the way you and kallend speak of these two events, you'd think that not a thing has transpired b/t then and now, either in the office of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) that Pope Benedict used to head as Cardinal Ratzinger or head of the Roman Catholic Church. It's amazing how selective people's memories can be. What do you think is an appropriate punishment for murder? The murderers that have gone unpunished are quite dead already. I read an earlier report with some leader somewhere predicting violence if the Pope didn't apologize personally. I'll take that as an example of how intolerant Muslims are. I also like how Muslims complain about the Crusades from hundreds of years ago, but they are the ones now that kidnap people and make them convert to Islam or else die - their own little inquisition it would seem. Don't forget that once you are a Muslim, you aren't allowed to change. You apparently have contempt for those that believe in God. Instead of saying explicitly that you think all believers are stupid (can't do that, it is a personal attack), you hide it behind a little ridicule about 'invisible friends'. Aren't there some very prominent scientists that believe in God? I'm not complaining really, it is a good thing that liberals are so hostile to those that believe in God, it ensures they will lose elections, so keep spreading the disdain... People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  22. OK, so Diebold makes a lousy machine, and government officials should have been looking for such problems. Wasn't it the dems that pushed so hard for anything besides punch cards to be used, and that it should be done right away? The dems sure knew a lot about the machines. Perhaps they were pissed off that their vote stealing efforts were not successful. Over the years, there is much to indicate that election fraud is more of a Democratic hobby than Republican. 23. I'd recommend that you realize that his claims have not been proven. Such was the case with all the claims from Dems in the 2000 election. There were, however, some people that were convicted for crimes that were done on behalf of Dems. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  24. Exactly the reason to have a powerful military. How do you view war? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  25. No. It means that if you're going to start a war, it is really stupid to do so if your military is lousy. It also means that if your enemy has a lousy military but starts a war with you anyway, it is OK to pursue a decisive military victory even though the enemy doesn't match up well militarily. So it looks like we're back to "who started it" and I know I don't want to re-hash that crap all over again. 'Who started it' is not just crap, it is essential knowledge. Was Israel occupying Lebanon? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired.
