  1. Another reply asking at what altitude did you throw the pilot chute? Just curious. I don't care if you pull low but it's not particularly wise on a skydiving rig. Hopefully it's just a phase. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  2. OK, I see what you mean. I'd say though, it's more like skydivers in general. We happen to have a lot of freeflyers in our area. We jump in small to large groups. We tend to track rather well because it's expected of each other so it's practiced. Smaller dropzones or a dropzone with fewer fun jumpers and no guidance often do fit into the category you mentioned. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  3. Nice skydives. I can fly on my belly too ... l'd love to join if I was in Eloy My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  4. A short track doesn't necessarily equal poor abilities. It means it was a short track, or somehow they tracked the same direction, didn't notice and found themselves in the same area. You can't possibly let yourself believe on heading performance of skydiving gear is predictible. Off heading openings are common and expected on some canopies. Sometimes it’s impossible to guide the canopy. Sometimes you must follow it, and then correct it. The idea behind an off heading opening is to immediately turn back to the original heading if possible. If those 2 had noticed each other during the snivel, there’s a good chance they could have avoided each other, however, they were very close. I’ve been that close and missed. I almost didn’t. The only reason I did is that I saw the other person during the opening. I would imagine since they got away with it, they will do a better job to pay attention to where people are before, during and after deployment. 5. What leads you to that conclusion? Really, I'm just asking where that came from. ----- Great video. I'll show that to some of my friends who are downsizing a bit too soon, but there's nothing I can do about it. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  6. Get video from the side with you in a sit and see if it sits off your back or stays nice and close. If it stays on the back, that is most excellent. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  7. If you're set on Wings, Do me (and yourself) one favor. Do not get the Cut In Lateral option on a wings. It will nearly guarentee a fit problem if you do anything but fly belly to earth. That is one option that should not be available to anyone with curves or is tiny. Even average sized folks have fit issues with the cut ins. Out of the choices you listed, I would prefer the Mirage. But if you get a screaming deal on the wings, it's hard to pass up. Just don't get the cut in laterals. (notice the trend about cut in laterals starting?) My preferred rig is an Infinity by the way. ....... no cut in laterals..... Good luck! My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  8. That is a very good observation. It's also one reason I almost didn't post it. When I twisted the risers, it wasn't an issue. Once the lines were in reach, I. Intentionally reached above to grab a rear riser line group and stop the turn. I learned the riser twist method here, and learned that steering trick from base. Good comment. Thanks. 9. Greetings, Do you know a reason or are you asking for real? They never were that popular anyway. Most people tend to use what comes stock with the rig no matter what. Usually they don't know anything different than what they have, good or bad. Personally I liked them. I jump a pull out and they're not nearly as popular as a throw out either :) My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  10. Wow, that's an old picture. That canopy has been sold a couple times since. I made those however they can be ordered as an option or yours can be modified. I haven't used triples in quite a while but recently borrowed a rig with the same canopy I jump and triples. I liked it and might give it another go. They're not very popular anymore. 11. Well, you'd be surprised what gets by as "OK" when it really shouldn't... such as some of the Telesis rigs I've laid eyes on in that area. If the riser cover opened and the toggle came out, you probably wouldn't see it without doing a flip or barrel roll or something other than tracking for the last 15 seconds. The tangling into the lines is what makes me think it came out in freefall. Reaching up is fine but don't reach up too high or pull on stuff right away. Here, read this Article, it's a pretty good one and will save me from stating about the same thing in my own words. ==>Body Language: Helping Your Canopy Open Better BTW, seems like you did rather well. 12. Is the seal number you listed accurate? Could it be UG2 ? My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  13. Gotcha. Hopefully the toggle keepers are actually very snug. Maintenance can often be overlooked. Do you by chance reach up and grab risers on opening? If so, how high up? BTW, by the sound of this... "But the left toggle had fired and wove itself back and forth through the other lines, essentially holding it in a braked position." ... the toggle was likely trailing outside of the riser cover during freefall. Were you jumping a telesis student rig? My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  14. Go look at the risers and toggles on that rig and any of the other student and rental rigs. Is the velcro is good condition? Are there toggle keepers? Ask the packer to show you on a rig that is open then if you care to, please answer the 2 questions. Thanks My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  15. What are the reasons? I have my opinions but still haven't heard why it's good to wait longer than say, an A license or equivelant. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  16. Angry much That was rather fun to read. I don't care what it's called but you're right, some of it is bullshit because it's not true! ... but some of it is. It's all flying and it's great. Tracking correctly will give more distance, Atmoflocking or whatever you wish to call it is performed relative to other Atmoflockmonuts and can be very fun, dynamic, and extremely challenging. It can be slow speed or high speed. Precise or not so precise. Tracing and multi directional changes are fun as hell and quite challening to stay close to a fast leader. It's all a form of tracking really. Steep or flat or somewhere in between. Doing it well is another form of bodyflight at it's finest.
  17. Yep. It's a bad Idea. If the main opens behind the reserve and must be cutaway from some reason, failing to add an additional step of fumbling for one of the snap shackles, releasing it then cutting away will (not might) result in the reserve being choked off. 18. Still doing it.... and I have IE9 I don't know what computer you're using but it may require using software rendering instead of GPU rendering. This doesn't appear to be the culprit of the vertical ads however if you're having strange floating ads and video issues with your IE9, see if this is an option. Click: Control panel Click: Network and Internet Click: Internet Options Click the Advanced tab and scroll to the top. If there is an option to use Software rendering instead of GPU, select the box, Click apply then OK. Restart IE9 I gave up on the ads and finally use Adblocker on IE, Chrome, Firefox. 20. The flips aren't for style points when you're going through AFF. They are to determine you can maintain or quickly regain control after going "unstable" Don't sweat it. They're easy. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  21. Holy crap ... flinger2000, It's been a long time. I've wondered the same thing on occasion. After my own experience, I tend to do "mostly" what the manual says but will devieate every so slightly if they're just doing things different, to be different. Good luck on your quest. 22. He's afraid to say the word First. The first time you do something, it can be cause to buy beer. Some people try to abuse it by getting people to buy beer for unimportant firsts. I like the tradition of getting beer for being cleared to do solos... like you just did. If you buy your first rig, that might be worthy but I'm kinda apposed to making people spend more after spending so much. There are beer rules and I'm sure you can find them on this site. Choose the important ones and ignore the rest. Say first all you want because pre-second isn't going to get you out of it if it's worthy. I do firsts all the time such as the first time I jump with a brand new AFF student. I've jumped with many but each time it's a new student, it's the first time. See what I mean? BTW, Congratulations! Have fun, stay safe and work up to harder stuff in a progressive manner. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  24. I will suggest the infinity over the wings every day of the year. If you must choose wings, do yourself one big favor and don't every get the cut in laterals. If you sit fly, I can pretty much guarantee the rig will sit off your back several inches. It's especially a problem if you have a small frame. Dealers... Stop selling smaller girls the Cut in Laterals option. It's f***ing annoying
