  1. Based solely on what you think the "motivation" of each leader is based on. That's subjective nonsense. They both have the right to do what they want with their properties. The issues are the same. Motivation is none of our business. Motivation doesn't matter here. Except as a basis for everyone to argue whatever their pet positions are. ... 2. nudity isn't "expression", if someone thinks that, then they are idiots with a nonsensical axe to grind (and likely have ugly bodies too) nudity is a clothing option ... 3. I agree with Billvon. And with his refusal to provide a personal opinion on a question that doesn't pertain to law. Asking whether he has a 'personal' opinion on whether a "victory mosque" should be built anywhere near the Ground Zero site is a definite moot point if one wants to stay consistent with the position that people should have the right to do whatever they want to with their property. You guys aren't really gaining any points pushing the issue and claiming some high ground. Bill's taking the TRUE libertarian position here while you guys are digressing to the whole lefty (and religious right) standard of "butting into other's people biz" positions Edit: I'm mainly disgusted with the media for escalating the mosque and the Qu'ran burning stories for both ratings and political points. These are both non-stories ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

  5. Why not - you judge people based purely on their political views. but, political views are religion to most people........ would be easier to judge individuals by their actions, and not these idiotic and subjectively defined groups they get to be stereotyped in. ... 6. I like this whole post except the blue bit Do what you want with your private property? It's none of my business. AGREED As for the blue bit about "WHY" you are burning, pissing or whatever - I don't care - it's also none of my business - and frankly, why should anyone really care? This isn't freedom of speech or religion on anything of the kind. It's just about our right to do what we want with our property. That other stuff is just nonsense to the real point. great post IMNSHO ... 7. Frankly? The news people (editors, reporters, etc all of them) that artificially made such a huge stink about a private citizen's petty/pissy actions such that you found out about it and got pissed. This is as good as any other tangential blame I've seen so far. ... 10. 1 - someone can learn to teach a course any time - with or without some made up rating by the USPA - but it doesn't hurt to sit the courses or assist at any time. 2 - before students had to pay someone to jump with them, up jumpers jumped with them for fun. When I graduated AFF in 1987, I was turning points with other jumpers almost immediately - we were "actual skydivers". Now, with every one getting ratings and expecting to be paid for jumping with a newbie, sometimes it's hard to find a couple people to just go up and do a fun jump with a newbie for the hell of it. it's a tough tradeoff - jumps are a LOT more expensive than they used to be, so it's harder to justify just going up with someone when you know your personal payoff will not be in skills improvement (unless the newbie is REALLY bad). I know a lot of coaches that are terrible skydivers and very poor coaches. I know a lot of coaches that are very good at both too though. Licensing requirements do require an observer now for a few of the freefall skills, so that adds difficulty. I just don't know if this change is for the good or not. we'll have to see. ... 11. why so stuck on what the neighbors think? If he owns the property, and the law says he can build, then he has the right to build - regardless of what his neighbors think. That goes for the neighbors next door, or the neighbors in the next few states or whatever I don't see why any poll matters no matter how close the pollees live.... law and property rights only matter here ... 12. Here's what I don't get: You take a good canopy and load it up. Flies pretty good. You load it up even more. Flies even better - COOL You load it up even more. Now it's starting to get glitchy and weird. You load it up even more. Now it's a piece of crap. NOW - superloading..... You load it up even MORE - ridiculously so - the performance smooths out and you get some more fun from it. What nut actually thought "hey, I know the performance is turning to crap as I add on more lead.....BUT what if I just add a bunch more and let's see what happens????" now that ranks right up there with the cavemen that figured out which berries were good and which were poisonous.... ... 14. I'm not a big fan of the Coach rating - up jumpers used to just jump with newbies and that encourage learning. However, since it's here now, I like Ron's answer above. 15. no - everybody pretty much agrees that the law should be followed but these people are assholes for doing what they are saying. the rest of these postings seems to be a bunch posters trying to win the "who's a bigger hypocrit" argument based on which side of the political spectrum they are on (even though they agree with the basic concepts and opinions) and which extrapolations and stereotypes they can leverage based on what's acceptable bigotry under their own political leanings it's actually funny, but I can't have popcorn this week, so it's funny, but not sating. the whole thing would be a non-issue if the liberal press would have just ignored the asshole and his teeny tiny congregation as the non-news that he really is ... 16. the other difference - is also one group that gets pissed promise to kill a bunch of people to deal with their tantrums. 17. then he's wrong when he says 'directly'. the person that pulls the trigger is directly responsible - and it's their responsibility also if they allow some random action somewhere remote to even be considered as an unreasonable justification for their actions ... 18. sure, but that doesn't say anything more about the asshole does it. But if a group of people start killing people because some complete stranger on the other side of the world burns some books, that says more about the killers doesn't it. The pastor is NOT responsible for increased killing if it happens - he's only responsible for burning books. Increased murder is the responsibility of the killers only. By your logic, I guess if people start killing Muslims in France after the Imam builds that mosque in NY, then the Imam is responsible for those deaths...... or less directly, I should just say "I'm saying he's responsible, it's just going to happen, wait and see" ... 20. yup - it's merely a property rights issue, just the statements are very offensive to some burn a flag - put a cross in a glass of urine - burn a koran - burn a bible - build a mosque near a sensitive historical site - put any of the above into a pile of manure etc etc etc I don't agree with people that do any of this stuff and they pretend to call it speech, or art, or whatever - I just find them to be bigotted, offensive, idiots grinding their axes in the most ineffective manner (thus they are also stupid as well since they only get negative results) however, I'll still support they rights to do whatever they want with their personal property Isn't that the real test? - support the law, even when you find it personally offensive? 22. that's because, no matter what people "REALLY" prefer, it's more socially acceptable to write that in public forums. Still, I'm not sure how one can see personality and kindness across the room - People see someone they find physically attractive, then they approach them - that's first. At that point, they hope the other stuff is there - and if it's not, that may break the deal. So first impressions, by definition, have to be shallow. 24. In my work neighborhood - if you are at any local red light, you wait for it to turn green - then you wait for the three additional narcisistic yuppies to run the cross street red light - then you cautiously proceed. Unless their lane was backed up the next block down - then you and everyone else also have to wait while they sit in the intersection waiting for 'their' lane to proceed fortunately, there's plenty of traffic cops a couple blocks away ticketing people for tinted windows and going 37 in a 35 zone and other stuff like that ... 25. 1 - mega - always 2 - sometimes tearing them on and off while wearing the suit will cause more tearing and stress than just leaving them on. Also, size of the toe cup plays in this. My wife's booties are designed to STAY ON - the knee joint is sized to allow the shoe to slide through and into the toe cup. Trying to take the booties on and off while geared up will tear the leather. - short answer? find your own preference. My booties, I wear the entire time I wear the suit - I need new leathers about twice every three years YMMV. ...
