  1. If this is true, then how come the number of skydivers in the country is decreasing? Especially amongst the younger crowd of 20-30 somethings?? USPA had a conversation with those of us at collegiates about how the sport of skydiving has seemed to gone down in popularity in that crowd and may worry about the sports future if something doesn't pick up. So, in recent years with the big boom in swooping, where are all these interested people? I think it's quite the opposite-- sure, it's more fun to watch and it's something that is dynamicly done right in front of spectators, but all it takes is one death in 1 million of those fun swoops that they watch and it's all over for them. Unfortunately, maybe there's been enough carnage to turn people away recently. Even if it doesn't happen at the event that that spectator is at, word gets around because of the wonderful media network in this country. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... 3. I've just got my own place and couldn't wait to start my herb/veggie growing. I've put some tomato, strawberry, and jalapeno plants up and a few choice herbs. I want to do green onions, and this is where I'm stuck! --Does anybody have any experience doing green onions? I've googled, wikipedia'd.... the whole bit, but I'm still not satisfied AND I can't find the seeds or bulbs to start them. If anybody can throw in their two cents or experience, then me love you long time! Thanks!!!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

    Heroes Finale

Or nathan still could have flown him, but just dropped or thrown him and let him blow up on his own without killing him too. ::sigh:: I dunno.... I thought it was pretty anti-climatic. Not that it wasn't good, I guess my expectations were too high. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  5. Looks like they do, so lets swamp away! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  6. Hey guys.... a friend of mine from Deland, Wendy David, is in this competition with the Art Institute for a $10,000 scholarship. Everybody could use a scholarship for school, especially a fellow skydiver so she can still have a bit of money to use her artistic abilities with freefall photography as well. So guys, if you can help a sista' out, that would be sweeeeet! Go to this link to vote for her pen and ink portrait: http://scholarship.aionline.edu/entry_new.aspx?id=843 Thanks a bunch!!! 7. If you do it, do it for yourself. Pref. for me, I wouldn't want to do it at a boogie because then you just look like an attention whore. I know of a girl who advertised and advertised and advertised for her naked jump and it's almost like it wasn't for her but instead was just a 'look at me,' kinda thing. If you get off on that kinda thing, then go on with your badself at skyfest, but personally, I would just rather not draw that kind of attention to myself in large crowds at a boogie. Just my 2 pennies...
  8. I agree about the students coming in ill prepared. I went to a crappy hell hole of a high school where I was in the honors and AP programs for everything, including math/science. I went to Florida Tech for college, a VERY heavy math/science based school, and I fell right on my face. I had never even seen a unit circle before I came to school and now these people wanted to test me on it right off the bat as basic knowledge. It took me a year to realize that my education was my responsibility at that point and if I had to spend 40 hours a week on top of regular homework to study and get caught up on the material so I could be prepared, then so be it. It's so much easier to sit back and blame it all on a professor. You just have to take initiative for yourself (and in this case your daughter) and realize that extra is going to have to be done to catch up to where you are either making an A or at the top end of the curve. If she's at that spot, then congrats to her, but as for the other kids in the class who aren't making the cut, they just might have to take some initiative. Another thing I ran into in college was that it wasn't so much a bad professor or that the class was ill equipped, but the material was just plain friggen hard, which caused a low average even amongst people who were prepared. 9. This might be a repost and I'm sure some of you have browsed youtube and seen this yourselves, but take a look at this clip-- http://youtube.com/watch?v=sQGw7I5clAo&mode=related&search= Holy crap, was that close. I would definitely need a change of underwear after that! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

  11. I would go with what he said, but if thats not working I can't really see anything that is jumping out at me. What kind of work do you do that has you use perl? It's a programming favorite among us Meteorologists.
  12. I can vouch for the moving..... it's been a pain in the ass and a long process getting this all put together. I have still yet to make my move as I'm finishing up my final exams this week; that is another battle and another thing to take up more precious editing time. Trust me, he's been bitching any chance he gets about having no time to do the video. I just can't wait till we're all settled and he can put out a sweet video and I can just relax. Well, I can vouch for the chicken too, being as I'm the hot white girl who supplies it. I did make him chicken last week in the new place. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... 13. I want to make a clarification here to be fair-- this is not a closed off laundry room. I call this a kitchen/laundry room, but it is more like a kitchen/dine-in kitchen area with the laundry area sharing some of that space in a dutch door closet area which has only enough room for the washer/dryer. Either way, it's all still the only tiled area on the first floor and tucked away from where we'll have seating area/TV/People to entertain, which was my major point. 15. You'll just have to come see them for yourself!! I want to have everybody over one night once we're all settled-- go out and have a few drinks or something downtown. ---------- Anywho... my personal take on this is to have it some place tiled. I've never heard of or seen anybody want to put a cat box on carpet let alone in a small living room where we'll be spending time watching TV and entertaining guests. Carpet is easy to vac, yes, but in a situation like the other day when I walked in and there was a fresh, huge, not so solid, cat turd all over the side of the box and onto the carpet.... eh, yea. I can imagine they peed out on the rug too then, and that stuff kinda works its way into the rug no matter how you slice it. If we don't scrub or steamclean and just simple vaccume in that case, we eventually get used to the smell that has worked its way into the carpet, but when people come over who are not in our home everyday, they'll notice-- trust me. My plan was to have it in the corner of the laundry room on the tile using one of those plastic or synthetic door mats so I can take it outside for easy cleaning and it catches cat littler that flew out of the box. If there is an accident on the tile, easily cleaned with a paper towel and some cleaning stuff. Plus, it's on the furthest side of the kitchen in a corner (the laundry area) away from where I'll be cooking and away from our couch where people (and us!) will sit and smell it. My mother always had it in our bathroom, like some people have suggested. But, our bathroom is upstairs and I think it's just easier in this case to keep everything on the bottom floor. 16. So, this is a friendly little argument I'm having with somebody on where to put a litterbox. For those of you who have cats (or for those of you who don't and still want to answer what they would do if they did) where would you put your litter box in this situation? This is a townhouse with carpeted and open living/dining area with a tiled kitchen/laundry room on the first floor. I'm not going to state my preference right now until there are some votes so I don't influence anything, but I'm interested to see what other people do or would do in this situation if they had cats. 17. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... oh my god, Doug. You crack me up. That just made my day picturing you jumping up and down trying to rip a tick off of your junk!! Nah, really....it's only funny if you're OK. Everything still work OK down there?? Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  18. When I jumped over at Langar for a summer there really wasn't much of an issue except that I had to have a BPA membership. (which was cool with me except that it cost me almost 300 american dollars for three months of skydiving! ) The only place that gave me trouble was Hiblestow (sp?? I can never spell that friggen word). They basically said that they have to treat me like a student since I didn't have my Cat 8 and my FS1 and some crap like that... yada, yada, yada. I had 80 jumps and a USPA B license with a BPA/USPA membership. So, that meant that I couldn't jump with my english friends who I was there with over the summer. I made a big stink about it and they finally let me go and honored my B-license. I hope you don't encounter any problems, but I guess it really varies from dropzone to dropzone over there. 19. got a better one for ya-- this is a proof that sex is fun. This is a good one if you're a math nerd like me. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  20. I'm addicted.... have been since last season. I TV-R it every week because I work on Tues. I don't know what keeps me watching this show. I know people who hate it, but for some reason I just keep coming back for more.
  21. I can work straight for an airline or a company that is contracted to forecast for an airline. My degree sets me up to meet government requirements to work as a meteorologist but I also have enough aviation background where I could go ATC, flight service, dispatch, maybe even airport management. In a perfect world, I just want to be forecasting or doing anything meteorology. (though I love aviation too...) I'm now going into substitute teaching to hold me over in the search for a job, but even through my application persistence and internship experiences, nothing has come my way. I admire the people who went out and got their job themselves, but sometimes I just feel that the world is all about who you know and not what I do because so far my doing has not worked out. (nor has it for my 5 or 6 other friends who are graduating with the same degree) So, I wonder what does work-- hence the poll. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  22. So, how did you get your first professional job? Not like a job you held through college or high school, but the job you now call your profession? I'm graduating with an Aviation Meteorology degree in a few weeks and it seems like none of my classmates (or me!) have gotten any job offers unless they know somebody! So, I'm just wondering how you guys got where you are today? Those of you that had internships through college --did that get your foot in the door, did you just happen to land something, or did you know somebody (who knew somebody who knew somebody...) that could walk a resume in somewhere for you? Just curious...
  23. Four exams down this week at school and not a damn thing to do tomorrow except one class. I just busted out a VERY large sake bottle with my new sake set. Mmmmmm..... Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  24. I like my boobies..... does that count for a yes in the poll? Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
