  1. yea I think if more of our officials were skydivers they'd all loosen up and we would have a less oppressive government
  2. they don't wear it because you get used to the wind your face fast. You won't have to put up with it for 22 more jumps cause it'll feel natural in a few more jumps come on man you were in the military you can handle a little wind in your face! jk don't mean to give you shit, it's probably not a big deal to wear that helmet but there is some reasoning behind it.
  3. I had similar problems as you, my instructor told me I have two lungs full of air to work with when I leave the plane. He told me this because I told him I couldn't breathe in free fall at first, so it was ok if I didn't breathe all 60 seconds cause I had 2 lungs full of that precious air. You gotta get used to the wind blowing at your face at 120mph, in the future you might do helmetless hop n' pops, a chinstrap cutaway for a helmet entaglement etc... better to get used to it now so you can deal with it later in my opinion. As for your goggle problem, a lot of those goggles suck. Get the Z-Flex with the lining that goes around them they work like beauts. The DZ will say you won't be able to wear a full face because it cuts off field of vision, the visor can come off and distract you, etc... it's an extra element that can cause distractions you don't need.
  4. which is strange considering minorities and hispanics tend to receive government oppression at higher rates than white males.
  5. Oh... you mean in a childish immature don't give a fuck about anyone else kinda way ~ yeah what a riot. yea it is all that. I'm just saying an element of it is kind of funny. Overall really stupid.
  6. Wait, what are you saying? Succeeding in sabotaging a jump and potentially endangering people would be cheered? By who? And why? Records are made to be broken and being ass hurt because "your" state record might be broken is infantile. The rules are what they are. If you find them unsatisfactory, feel free to lobby the USPA and or IPC. That's how you make a positive change. I also find your use of the word "steal" fascinating. If people follow the rules and set a record, how is that "stealing"? Your idea of how records works doesn't seem to intersect with reality... I think his behavior was a huge lapse in judgement and was a big "fuck you" to his fellow skydivers. But honestly I also found some humor in it. Everyone's all serious and shit and all the sudden one jackass flips over and fucks it all up. Someones gotta agree it's kinda funny. At the end of the day though it was just a super disrespectful move
  7. are you being sarcastic? I thought if you back out or weather bad everyone is supposed to turn off their AADs or else those puppies will fire open the reserves on the plane ride down
  8. ya it requires a $100,000 annual inspection, and engine needs to be redid every 10 years for about $200,000 that's based on threads of the DC9 Jet on dropzone so take this info with a grain of salt. One way to get Jets into skydiving is using cargo ships. The plane has to be generating revenue doing other jobs other than skydiving, it cannot sustain itself on jump tickets alone.
  9. Disappointed... when I read this thread title I thought it was going to be about fear of being photographed, and I was going to say it'll be really hard for you to keep skydiving with such a fear.
  10. based on the manner packers get paid I don't think this will be an issue. That is cash money right after skydive
  11. It's still true. It just doesn't fly. Yeah, fuck 'em. I went to Perris in 2008 specifically to 'jump the jet'. They didn't have the grace to update their shit to notify anyone it wasn't flying. I understand the finances, just don't advertise something you don't have. Even if it was still flying I'd call before making plans, I mean even if it was in service I imagine it's not a daily thing, maybe most weekenends at least one jet load per weekend when it was flying? But that's your fault for not calling ahead you can't just expect something like that to be readily available upon the grace of your arrival Not only do you need to have 50+ fun jumpers at the DZ but you need 50+ fun jumpers willing to pay the more expensive jump ticket. I bet once people have done it 2 or 3 times the novelty wears off so you aren't getting repeat customers and then it makes sense how this thing is out of commission
  12. You probably already have... Plenty of Otters, Casas, Be-99's and even Caravans have flown in commercial airline service. ya but I Want the commercial airline 'experience' not sitting on a floor in an Otter. I want a flight attendant telling me how to buckle my seatbelt, etc...
  13. Thanks for that vid. I hope the plane is back in the air in the next few years or so, would love to have that experience in the near future
  14. awwwww mannnn but I wanna skydive out of a commercial airliner...
  15. that was a very violent spin, would a good arch even get you stable out of that situation?
  16. Oh... a G550 would not be a reasonable investment for a DZ. They live somewhere in the 30-40 million range with Twotters being more in the 1.5 million range. Its a good concept but... why? you could probably find in the upper 20 million dollar range. Only 1 million jumps and the operating DZ will break even. This could work
  17. So is it retired or not? It's advertised on their website as them having the only jet for skydiving in the industry
  18. I have a skyhook. I don't have to worry about this. EDIT: Nevermind. skyhook has nothing to do with the situation at hand. LOL
  19. I thought maybe there were several versions of the Caravan in slightly different sizes. It probably was a 16-18 seater just didn't seem like it I'm moving down under in January, I'm going to miss Otters. Oh well. Which skydive ramblers is the best to skydive at? I saw there are like 3 locations, is the sunshine coast a regular busy DZ with funjumpers/caravan or is it like a novelty beach jump tandem mill? Is the beach the regular landing area or what?? Thanks
  20. are there any twin otters or skyvans in queensland? How many people can the Ramblers Caravan hold? I only ever been in a caravan where it couldnt have held more then 10 skydivers, its not the same as 20+ people in a twin otter.. more of a rush.
  21. waaa? they must have determined it wasn't an emergency. With that big ol' camera on his head he is probably a pretty experienced jumper.
