  1. undoubtedly Lincoln caused the most deaths. 1 million soldiers and citizens, decades of disaster in the south, war crimes .... If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  2. like grasping for straws. Is that like grasping for white hoods? Let me guess, you even have a black friend? As a matter of fact, I keep up with my old XO from Ft Hood and a friend in Houston who flew OH-6As in Vietnam. He got the Distinguished Service Cross for taking out a North Vietnamese tank. Of course it cost him the full use of his left arm, but he can still pull up on the collective control of a helicopter. Both these guys are retired Army and happen to be black. .....and of course I lost my platoon sergeant 1st tour up in I Corps. He was a black E-7, and the best. He died of a sucking chest wound in June of 1968. Not many days I don't think of him. White hoods? I wear white when I hunt in the snow. So basically you like black guys after they have been shot. that's not even funny and sort of sick. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  3. most people won't necessarily argue about a few more cents - but the swing I talked about was a 47 cent/gallon swing, not 10 or even 20. on a daily basis. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  4. what surprised me last week was 3 mornings in a row I drove past a gas station selling at $1.22.9 or 1.23.9/LITRE, and the same three days at 3:30 or so, the station was priced at $1.15.9/LITRE. That translates to about $4.69/gal in the am, and $4.22/gal in the afternoon. Obviously trying to stick it to the commuters, I guess. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  5. If this is The Video and the Toronto Police say the video does not contain enough evidence to press charges, might this just be yet another example in the long list of examples where the Consensus Mainstream Media attempts to invent news instead of reporting it? Or do Progressives feel that they are entitled to convict anyone they wish of a crime despite not having the evidence for charges let alone a conviction. So much for "Innocent until proven guilty". Let the witch hunt begin, it is after all Halloween. In this particular case it seems to be the chief of police out to get ford. Totally inappropriate. funny he couldn't talk about other investigations, but he can talk about this one about his boss. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  6. The guys smokes weed (he's even admitted this) ... as do many others, including Trudeau JR (who's been praised by his media friends for coming out). If you or anyone else has credible evidence that Ford's substance abuse is anything worse than weed or Kentucky Fried Chicken, then by all means bring it forward. Until then this remains another prime example of how ridiculous the Consensus Mainstream Media has become. I have no issue with him smoking weed. But his behaviour, coupled with evidence being brought forth now has made it almost impossible for him to do his duty as mayor of Toronto. Hence, he needs to step down for the good of the city. Then if he has a substance abuse problem he really needs to find help for himself. I like what Ford stands for and I like what he has done for Toronto. But, he has not done himself any favours and has landed in a position where he is quickly becoming a liability to Toronto. Like I said, I hope conservative candidates like Karen Stintz (who declared last week she is running in next year's election), or John Tory have a good running in the next election. Actually what is causing ford difficulty now is a certain police chief defying all rules and holding press conference about an ongoing case (after refusing to comment on how many others including his own conduct in the G20 riots), And it is way to soon to say that Ford can't do his job - he's been counted out before. I used to think he was a conservative but I watch Tory's show all the time - he seems to have no problems with the way the liberals have conducted themselves since the last election. He is certainly no conservative. I wouldn't trust Karen stintz further than I could throw her. Rarely seen such a smarmy self-serving ambitious politician in my life. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  7. I think people from the previous liberal government should be criminally charged and prosecuted for their roles in the cancellation of the power plants yes. Kathrine Wynne came in after that process was completed. Don't take that as me saying I am a fan of hers. McGuinty should be standing in front of a judge. I am not blaming the media for this though, I blame my fellow citizens. Wynne was co-chair of the campaign during which the liberals axed the plants to save seats. She did NOT COME IN AFTER THE FACT. And she continued in the stonewalling and cover-up. She should be up for contempt along with Chiarelli, McGoofy and Bentley. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. 8. I don't see how the city can get out of it. I'd be progressing with a lawsuit against the city. They should be paying and then going after the cop themselves... But that's just my take. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  9. From what I understood the 4th World Parachute Championships were held in Czechoslovachia, not France? Canada was represented by Floyd Martineau, the first Canadian to participate in a world championships. I checked another source and and it confirms Bratislava. Maybe this is the French Nationals to select a team to go to the Worlds? If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. 10. You could start with insurance rates already drastically rising as well as companies either laying off workers or cutting hours (so they don't have to pay benefits) directly because of Obamacare. And that doesn't get into the medical problems (like MD availability) that will affect everyone. and insurance companies that have sent out notices that they flat out will not offer people to renew policies they have already been using for over a decade.... Those policies are no longer available, regardless of cost. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. 11. Indeed, but no effective process in place to enforce it. Courtesy of the gun lobby, which emasculates any and every effort to establish an effective process. That's not true at all. You're saying they don;t do enuf checks before a felon can get a gun -- we're saying when a felon is CAUGHT WITH A GUN there damm sure is a way to enforce the the law -- PROSECUTE HIM! .. Nonsense! They aren't convicted felons UNTIL they've been prosecuted and found guilty. Then after getting released they can avoid any background check on gun purchases with trivial ease because the gun lobby opposes any effort to tighten the checks, most recently after the Newtown massacre. Nonsense! They were already convicted felons before they got caught applying to get a gun! Then when they got caught with a gun the gov't couldn't be bothered to prosecute them for it because they don't seem to have a problem with felons breaking the law! Is a felon applying for a gun illegal? Or is it illegal for a felon to possess a gun? Hard to prosecute a felon for applying to get a gun, if that is not specifically illegal. (Or did you just type that incorrectly?) I believe it is illegal to falsify the form or to have someone else fill it out in order to get around the rules. Regardless there are many cases where felons are IN POSSESSION of a gun obtained illegally and are not prosecuted because the da doesn't want to spend the time on it. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone

You're saying they don;t do enuf checks before a felon can get a gun -- we're saying when a felon is CAUGHT WITH A GUN there damm sure is a way to enforce the the law -- PROSECUTE HIM! Unfortunately, the state and federal enforcers don't seem to want to bother. Maybe they think if more felons realize they won't be punished and more felons are then caught with guns, that will work in the their favor... 14. The truth is probably in the middle. ***But while your average gangbanger probably doesn't have much training, he also probably doesn't have a permit, because he has his gun 'illegally'. So forcing in new laws for concealed carry won't effect your average gangbanger... No law is going to stop your average gangbanger. If you are creating laws for gangbangers, you are indeed looking at things the wrong way. Since most if not all politicians are indeed not making laws for gangbangers, it is also a bit of a strawman. Lawmakers are trying to limit the rights of law-abiding citizens. That is not right when it is generally law-breakers who are at fault. There are laws on the books to stop felons from applying to buy guns - but very few get prosecuted even when caught. Prosecuting these people and having minimum sentences when convicted would make far more sense than making new laws to disallow law-abiding citizens from buying guns. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  15. He got about a hundred innocent people in over 10 sortees into the mall, out the mall alive who may not have gotten out unscathed otherwise. If we're supposing, I'm thinking (and this is ONLY my supposition) that saving the lives of the hostages inside was a lower priority to the kenyan military that went in then getting the bad guys. so this guy getting 100 people out before the big show may have had a huge impact on their lives. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  16. That's great. Have to wonder if maybe his military training helped, or if it was all because of his handgun. This is one of the points. The 'average' concealed carrier in the states quite possibly also has or had military or police training. Many on here like to say the 'average' holder is a bum who got his licence out of a crackerjack box (I'm being facetious here). But while your average gangbanger probably doesn't have much training, he also probably doesn't have a permit, because he has his gun 'illegally'. So forcing in new laws for concealed carry won't effect your average gangbanger... If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. 18. Really? 19 vs. 16? Doesn't seem anything like a big difference to me. In fact I think in many jurisdictions, even what would be statutory rape in some situations is not if the two involved are within a couple of years of each others age. Not saying if that is the case here, but... Now, if it was 29 vs 16, you might have a case. But when I was about 26 or 27 I went out with a 17 year-old. Seemed pretty normal to us. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  19. Sure. Which was my point. Don was it? seemed to be deflection - half of the time it was cops, there's a differences between defensive posture and stopping the situation, and counting 3 would mean many more incidents in the denominator. OTOH, MotherJones definitely thinks it knows best. In the first paragraph I said: "In the buzzfeed report, the incidents were stopped before the death toll reached the level of a mass killing, so they would not have been considered in the motherjones report." In the second paragraph I raised the issue of the off-duty cops vs "average citizen". Not deflection, a legitimate question. Does a cop forget their training when off duty, or when working security? Do average citizens somehow acquire the knowledge of how to deal with such a situation simply by receiving a concealed carry permit in the mail, without ever having to spend a single minute training, ever having to demonstrate any proficiency with any type of firearm, and without having to demonstrate any understanding of relevant law? One theme per paragraph. I'm sure a lawyer will be familiar with such a concept. Are we not allowed to make more than one point per post? Don you haven't proven the point that the 'average' citizen who receives a concealed carry permit has no training. Just because in some cases it doesn't need to be proven to get the permit, doesn't mean that the 'average' person who applied for it didn't have training, either formal (as in armed forces, hunting courses, nra courses, etc.) or informal (as in from family members or friends who are knowledgeable about guns). At the moment that's just a theory that you seem to keep spouting. And many of the incidents we do read about, involve law enforcement officers who mishandled or improperly stored their firearms -- these presumably are the highly-trained professionals you agree should be allowed to keep their guns... 20. or during katrina, or during (put your tragedy here)... It's not like it's just one exception. Or even one/year... If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  21. One example is all it takes to disprove the article. As to your second point, how many concealed carry users are ex-armed forces, trained to shoot in combat situations? There are a lot more civilians that can have an impact than just off-duty cops. And an off-duty cop is still a civilian. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  22. I wonder how many "pro-gun" posters would still own guns after their 10 year old shoots their 8 year old by accident. It's all fun and games hypotheticals until it happens to YOU! that's a ridiculous comparison. There are far more defensive gun uses then accidental gun deaths in the us. Some estimate well over a million defensive gun uses/year. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  23. tell that to the people in colorado who just got flown out of the flood zone in military choppers... If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
  24. since when is killing 5 not a mass killing Feb. 12, 2007 Sulejman Talović killed five people and wounded four others in 2007 when he began firing in a public square in Salt Lake City, Utah. He carried a shotgun and a backpack of ammunition. He was eventually stopped in a shoot-out involving Salt Lake City Police Department SWAT that took place in a Pottery Barn Kids. He was cornered, however, by off-duty police officer Kenneth Hammond, who held him in position before authorities could arrive. Hammond ran on scene after hearing gunshots fire out while having an early Valentine’s Day dinner with his pregnant wife at a local restaurant or killing 3 and wounding 3 Jan. 16, 2002 A 43-year-old Nigerian former student named Peter Odighizuwa arrived on campus with a handgun. There are different variations of the story, but according to eyewitness accounts, law students Tracy Bridges, a county sheriff’s deputy, and Mikael Gross, a police officer, ran to their cars after hearing gunshots and grabbed personally owned firearms. They approached Odighizuwa, ordering him to drop his firearm; he did and was subdued by unarmed students. Three people were killed and three others were wounded. or killing 3 and wounding 7 Oct. 1, 1997 Luke Woodham fatally stabbed and bludgeoned his mother and went on to kill two students and injure seven others at his high school. Woodham was stopped by Assistant Principal Joel Myrick, a U.S. Army Reserve commander, who detained Woodham by using a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol he kept in his truck, until authorities could show up. Myrick stopped Woodham from going across the street to the middle school And it is indeed legitimate to count off-duty police officers as civilians. They are civilians, and they were carrying. 25. The truth is that intelligence was manipulated at some level. Many reports put that level at the VPs office. Intelligence that supported the push for war was hyped, contradicting intelligence was downplayed. It's really, truly not in dispute, regardless of agenda. We fucked up. hmmm. sounds like benghazi to me. Maybe in reverse... If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead.
