masterblaster72 0 #1 April 27, 2005 I'm a statistics junkie and I'm curious to know if there's some kind of ranking out there of biggest/most respected dropzones in the country. Thanks. Travman 6 #2 April 27, 2005 Just because a dropzone is the biggest, doesn't mean it is the most respected. A lot of people love the dropzone they went through their AFF at because they know lots of people there, and it feels like home.
eUrNiCc 0 #3 April 27, 2005 My dropzone has the largest fleet of aircraft in the world and I love the place, but that doesn't mean that it's the best or most respected. There are LOTS of great DZ's around the country.Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
flyangel2 2 #4 April 27, 2005 Would you count Tandems and AFF jumps in those numbers?May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey
masterblaster72 0 #5 April 28, 2005 Probably -- I know they're different from regular jumps, but they're jumps nonetheless... Cuz I can tell you we have 10. With a possible addition in the future.

Tandems and AFF students not fill the plane? If they make a skydive they are a jumper even if only once. Greenie in training.
kelpdiver 2 #10 April 28, 2005 QuoteTandems and AFF students not fill the plane? If they make a skydive they are a jumper even if only once. The only question is how do you count tandems? 2 jumps, 3 with video, or just 1? Same for AFF. when you need 8 (or 15, or just 3) to get the plane up, every slot counts! If you follow that logic yes you count them all. Each of them has a paid slot on the load. Greenie in training.
Kris 0 #12 April 28, 2005 Quote I was about to ask the same thing. Carolina Sky Sports Skydive Arizona I think Paul Fayard at Carolina Sky Sports might own just a few more planes than Skydive Arizona. They majority of his fleet is leased out though.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
eUrNiCc 0 #13 April 28, 2005 ^Paul has somewhere between 15-17 airplanes at any given time. At CSS we'll usually be jumping a different airplane every weekend, often several different airplanes in the same day as they are constantly flying in and out for maintnence and military contracts. Anyhow, the point that i was trying to make was that there isn't nessisarily a direct correlation between DZ size and number of jumps per year. CSS is a huge DZ, but our number of jumps per year falls short of a number of very busy smaller DZ's.Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Sometimes I think about how nice it would be to check IP's to prove my theories, but usually these guys with multiple profiles make it way too obvious anyway.www.WingsuitPhotos.com

masterblaster72 0 #18 April 29, 2005 Ok, so I guess there's no list or ranking of dz's...I know it's pretty subjective, but I was wondering what they might be. Maybe I should make a new thread asking people to list the five they think are the biggest/best, would probably make for an interesting discussion. chileanXaos 0 #21 May 2, 2005 myabe , we should put in this one what Dz has the best facilities and landing areas . I dont think that having one aircraft more than other will make a better Dz. And for example I was traveling for 2 months and needed to use internet or a phone to contact my country, in skydive Az and they didnt have internet , and didnt want to lend the office one , because they said I could put some virus , , maybe they shoulh have less aircraft and take care of other stuff.
