quade 3 #1 April 27, 2016 QuoteFormer House Speaker Dennis Hastert on Wednesday was sentenced to 15 months in prison and ordered to pay $250,000 to a victims' fund in a hush money case that revealed he was being accused of sexually abusing young boys as a teacher in Illinois. http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/27/politics/dennis-hastert-sentencing/quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
normiss 641 #2 April 27, 2016 Almost fitting for the charges brought and his position. Shame about the statute of limitations on other crimes commited and admitted to. Wonder how the lawsuit will pan out.... What a piece of shit of a person.
Boomerdog 0 #3 April 28, 2016 Hastert got off light. He should have got 15 years minimum. Crime coupled to the criminal and ethical betrayal of the public trust by ANY political leader merits (IMHO) a more severe sentence.
jakee 1,274 #4 April 28, 2016 Could he still be charged for the molestation itself or is there a limitations thingy on that?Do you want to have an ideagasm?

If he hadn't been a Congressman and under financial scrutiny, he probably never would have gotten caught at all. - Dan G

How do you have a statue of limitations on repeatedly molesting children? Oh you ruined all those children 30 years ago, well that's ok then. Carry on. Oh hang on, this shoplifting is your third offence. Off to prison you go for the rest of your life and you will never get out again. Yup, not fucked up at all. normiss 641 #13 April 28, 2016 There are a lot of offenses that the statute of limitations apply to...I agree that a number of them should not. All sex offenses shouldn't have an expiration date of prosecution IMO. They create a lifetime of problems for the victims.
DanG 1 #14 April 28, 2016 QuoteAll sex offenses shouldn't have an expiration date of prosecution IMO. They create a lifetime of problems for the victims. I agree about the severity of many sex crimes (indecent exposure for streaking is now considered a sex crime), but the statute of limitations has important practical foundations. It can be very hard to give someone a fair trial decades later when physical evidence is missing, people's memories have changed, witnesses can't be found, etc. That being said, Hastert is a monster. - Dan G
normiss 641 #15 April 28, 2016 Excellent point. I had totally forgotten the "silly" (for lack of a better word in my brain) sex crimes that people get in trouble for. I haven't seen people moon a fly-by in awhile now.
