Sure. But I don't see many consrvatives wanting laws passed that offer special protection for groups.

the recent fury over Catholic hospitals having to provide full medical care to its employees seems like an obvious counterexample to your claim.

When I first saw that on the news, I thought; "What the hell?" Religious groups (Catholic, Protestant, Methodist and etc) are TAX FREE! The Catholic hospitals can't afford full medical care for their employees? That's nuts!!!

Don't you mean "provide contraceptive services, even though it is against the tenets of their faith"?

I skimmed the article, and it seems to fit what I've observed.

Both of my parents are artists, so I grew up around gays without thinking much of it. Even now, my basic reaction to homosexuality is one of indifference.

My brother worked for a guy who was openly gay, but still had a wife. When asked about it, he was very open. He said that he didn't want to believe he was gay, and his marriage had been part of a pattern of denial.

Who wants to be a pariah? He attributed his early homosexual experiences to youthful indiscretion, and was sure that as an adult he was "perfectly normal;" see? I have a wife!

Eventually he came to the realization that he was, in fact, gay, and that "normal" for him meant being gay. Needless to say, his wife had pretty much figured it out before he did, but she still loved him.

I am no more offended by a gay showing interest in me than I am by a woman to whom I am not attracted showing similar interest. If anything, I am somewhat flattered that someone who is a good judge of male attractiveness considers me worthy of attention, and I have yet to have anyone take it badly to find out that I am strictly a breeder.

My son gets hugs and kisses from both parents, all his grandparents and all his uncles and aunts. What will be his orientation when he hits puberty is not my call, but I doubt if the love and affection of male family members will be a threat to future heterosexuality. If he turns out to be gay, he turns out to be gay, and I will not love him one iota less either way.

Who does or does not sleep with whom is generally not an issue as far as I can tell. Even if I was a real Lothario, the actual percentage of women with whom I interacted that I actually bedded would be zero to significant digits; operationally speaking, it is irrelevant if a woman is straight, lesbian, bi or celibate, regardless of how attractive I might find her (my wife is an exception).

Similarly, whether a man is straight, gay, bi or saving himself for marriage is his problem. I am much more concerned with someone's honesty, reliability, intelligence and initiative than their sexual orientation when all is said and done.

All told, I prefer an environment where being straight or gay is not considered a big deal. Being around people who get worked up over such things gets old fast.

Blue skies,

Winsor

Irresponsible procreation by heterosexuals does not benefit society either; actually, it is often harmful to society. We're not exactly experiencing an underpopulation crisis.

And some same-sex couples do benefit society by adopting unwanted children (often produced by irresponsible heterosexuals) and raising them in loving homes.

Twaddle. The employees are free to purchase on their own, or work for a company that provides that coverage.

The law was that all companies must provide this coverage. These conservatives didn't like it, insisted on getting special protection. Sorry, there's no way around this. You want to rehash the properness of this requirement, but the topic is about who demands 'special' rights.

Well, except for unions and other folks getting waivers. There's also a religious exception, as I recall, that is *NOT* being allowed.

Yes, they are. That way they aren't affected by the special exceptions that religious groups demanded - exceptions that may harm their employees.

Lack of insurance-paid contraception is going to harm them? Interesting. Does the same hold true for all the unions that have gotten waivers?

I'm straight, but I never had any desire to procreate. One could argue that this doesn't benefit society (at least in the unlikely scenario that everyone felt that way). Should this be considered a flaw that needs to be fixed?

I hate gay men.

I was going to a gym in the village when we lived in Montreal (we lived at the edge of it) and these fuckers made me look so f'ing fat and out of shape. And not 1 hit on me!!!!

And I though there was a "bear" thing some of them would go for.

Fuckers. Way to mess with my self esteem.

My fantasy is to be the only straight guy in town.

Can you please clarify what exactly you would like the queers to do to "take responsibility"? Also what "actions" exactly are you referring too? Perhaps I can have some gay friends come to one of your bible study groups and do a song and dance for you, it would mean the world to them to have your forgiveness.

Consider it an essay question. For example:

I am homosexual because _______________.
Fill in the blank with an explanation of the payoff you receive for your behavior choice. Do not cop out with excuses for your behavior choice.

My personal example:

I am a Christian because I actually feel a sense of security knowing I have life assurance in Jesus Christ. I was not born that way I chose that path after an extended period of personal loss and emotional trauma. I am able to find solace and direction to the problems in my life through prayer, fasting and studying the Holy Bible. I can fellowship easily with others who share similar experiences. I feel victorious.

Just man up...

I think it's time YOU man up. I can watch hardcore lesbian porn whilst eating fish without cringing, and yet I've to deal with loads of "manly" heterosexual men who turn to whiny bitches the moment they see two men kissing. Sure, you don't have to like it, but it's not the end of the world. Get over it, different people like different things. Some people like to eat semi-solidified rotten milk, AKA, cheese . I really don't get that, it's disgusting, and so I look the other way. I guess that's to hard for you?

Read my response to skinnay above.

To refresh your memory, I entered this thread with an explanatory statement of Classical/Freudian Psychology. All the rest of this emotional display, blaming and name calling is coming from your tribe.

You are the ones in distress with your behavior choices not me. I do not care. I observe and comment.

If you want to live free of the emotional discomfort, you have to take full responsibility for your feelings and work on yourself. Projecting the cause of your feelings outside yourself, to society, rednecks, mean people, etc., only exacerbates your misery.

Again I say, MAN UP.

Which you then twisted and turned to make it fit your template. If you go back and read what I said, I was referring to special laws to protect someone for being a "Consrvative". It was in response to gays demanding special laws to protect them because they are gay. I would normally say nice try but in this case, it wasn't.

The idea that homosexuality is a choice has to be one of the most ignorant views possible.

It lacks any form of logic, though to be fair, the side that tends to argue that does their best to avoid logic in all circumstances and rather just state what they want to believe as fact and argue like it is.

I'd love to hear why many children identify with homosexual behaviour before they even know what it is. There are lots of kids who grow up in stable families with both parents present and yet their first glimpse at homosexuality is responded by with "Mom, I also feel like that... I also only like boys."

Tell me what exactly homosexuals have in their life that makes it easier than a heterosexual, in no way is being gay easier than being straight. Living a straight God fearing lifestyle is about as easy as it gets.

Why the hell would anyone WANT to be mocked, bullied and treated like shit in their lives, because despite what you may think about the evil liberals taking over the world. Homosexuals are still being bullied and treated worse than the average kids in school. But naturally that's something they wanted.

Why would they WANT the legal issues in adoption and child raising.

As someone else stated, when did you choose to be straight? People don't decide what they want to be attracted to, that fact is not exactly rocket science. People will be more attracted to blondes or brunettes, to thinner girls or larger girls, to certain facial features. Do you think these things are choices? Did you stop one day and go "You know what, I want to be attracted to brunettes"

You try play some card on how they can 'control their sexual activity', which is another argument that doesn't hold any weight. The point is why should they try to hold control their sexual activity. The only reason to want to control homosexuality is if it's wrong, which it is only in your opinion. A direct equivalent would be me telling you that I find your taste in women disgusting and that you should now only find 400lb women attractive, and if you don't then you should control your sexual urges and just never be sexual with anyone.

So don't say that everyone else are the ones that are distressed by the behaviour, and don't say you don't care. If you didn't care and you were so okay with their actions you wouldn't feel the need to try make it into some act that they should try 'control'.

Actually from today I think you should only be attracted to 400lb black girls with shaved heads. Because that's how it works right? You choose your sexual preferences? :S And if you can't do that, you need to control your sexual activity.

It's funny how the conservative Christians want the homosexuals to cut out their sexual activities because they don't agree with it and it's ungodly... It's so much easier for them, they just find a woman and propose so that they don't need to curb their sexual desires. You know, God forbid you have a heathen sexual relationship outside of marriage.

And if that's not enough for you... Why the hell would someone turn down vagina by choice.
