That's not humility; it's cowardice. I can never prove that there were no monsters under my bed when I was a kid, even though I believed there to be at the time. Nonetheless, I now, as an adult, state categorically that there were none.

Until death is immenent, at which point you will start to hedge your bets.

I doubt many of us would choose being buried alive for a week or so, before dying a very unpleasant death, to be a good way to go. However, your OMNIPOTENT God seems to think it appropriate for many of his believers.

His Son was crucified on a wooden cross. All of the original disciples suffered horribly at death. The exception was John. He was tortured then exiled.

It is not how we go to death but, the confidence we have on the journey that is of paramount importance.

So being tortured to death is a good Christian way to die. OK, that explains some of your other posts on a variety of topics.

I recently read a book about religion (or the lack thereof) in Denmark and Sweden. One of the interesting points that was brought up was how people deal with death. Atheists/Agnostics actually tended to deal the best with death, since they had long ago come to grips with the fact that they were going to die and had no idea what was going to happen afterwards. On the other hand, the Christians were generally the ones who were freaking out, worrying if they had really led good lives and concerned that they might go to hell if they hadn't. Granted, this was mostly based on anecdotal "evidence", but I found it interesting nonetheless.

I do not know how to respond except to say, God shall determine the time, place and manner in which we all die. Death is guaranteed and the process begins with our first breath out of the womb. Each morning is a victory over the forces of death the previous day.

The major concern is the judgment and I have the confidence of my experiences with Jesus Christ and the Word of God in the Holy Bible.

Can you elaborate on your experiences with Jesus Christ ?
Somebody you have obviously never met in real life...

I did meet Jesus Christ of Nazareth in March 1981 at Mono Lake in Lee Vining CA. My relationship with Him has grown steadily since then. He is available to all who seek Him. The instructions are repeated often in the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Really? So abortion can't be murder then.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd hold that life starts at conception.

I agree with 100%. My assumption for the other poster was that the person was not murdered prior to birth.

Well, that states that you met Jesus, as far as I recall the scripture Jesus is in heaven... How do you meet someone who is not physically present ?

But what I really want to know, how do you define your relationship with Jesus ?
So you speak to him ? Does he answer ? Do you sometimes have a Quarrel ?

How is anything a victory if it's all pre-determined?

For that matter, why would you want to achieve victory over something your god planned for you?

define "self-awareness" in the universe.

Us , Homo sapien sapien. We are, therefore we exist.

Okay, I thought you were talking about something else.

I'm still not sure why this is significant, though.

I find the significance in that, since it occurs here on earth in us, it is obviously a part of the universe. Nothing in the universe ever disappears, only change form from time to time. It would only seem logical that the energy that is "self consciousness" would exist through out the universe and beyond in infinitely larger amounts. ( ie. God)

Yes, and that is exactly the point. Jesus set me on the path to freedom from alcoholism and chemical dependency. The final deliverance occurred two years later. My sobriety birthday is 26 Mar and this year marks number 27.

Sharing my testimony here to give hope to the hopeless is my motivation. Debating the existence of God and/or Jesus is not what I am about. However, when dragged into these discussions I am afforded the opportunity to explain God's will and purpose for man and to offer the free gift.

I have always maintained that in the vast unknown of lurkers there are those seeking help and have been reluctant, for whatever reason, to ask for it.

If the reader is full of joy and happiness nothing I, or the other Christians write, will mean anything. However, if the reader is dealing with issues of unresolved anger, anxiety, depression and/or guilt Jesus is there to set them free. Several of us here have experienced the freedom and have joy. We believe others can have the same benefits. It's not rocket science, it's subjective analysis, personal and life changing.

What I think all of you are missing...
Religion an acquired ability.
You aren't born with your beliefs... you learn them.
Sometimes you will go to a building where you can feel a common bond with others with the same ability.
Sometimes you do "rituals" to connect with something.
However you do it, it's an ability that you learn through time.
It is all passed along by HUMANS.
As simple as a translation error could throw any text out of context.
It seems people fail to see what has actually happened.
War.
No one cares if they are right, they just can never be wrong.
