officer's shoot unarmed man

Recommended Posts

wow. just wow. It is getting out of hand where officers are firing on people and killing them, when less lethal force IS available. heck, even a blow to the guys head with a baton to knock him unconcious probably would have worked. and just before this one, there were a couple cops in LA that shot and killed driver in car, because they heard gunfire somewhere around them, and assumed it was that car. police abusing their power is getting way way out of hand.

As soon as you, and those like you, start posting articles showing where officers are killed in the line of duty I may pay attention because, at that point it may be not be some kind of senstional type hype post.

As for the story? In a couple of weeks, once all the facts are finaly put out there I will pay attention.

Until then?

By the way, if it turns out that your current pespective is correct then the law should take care of a creep with a gun.

Couple of weeks! Are you crazy? Chicago still hasn't resolved its police torture cases from 20 years ago. The "authorities" have amazing ability to bury information and procrastinate.

Ya, we all know they are all evil SOBs.

The ONLY thing that has surprised me about this thread is that you or Amazon are not the ones to start it.

The first article did not provide much info.

Thanks
these types of stories evolve so fast that I am surprised anyone takes initial "articles" at face value. Still seems there is much to come out yet.

The version inscribed at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. reads:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out -
because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out -
because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out -
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me.

Some of them indeed are evil men... and need to be watched very closely to prevent abuse of the great power they have been given

Then again.. some people are always just fine with living in a police state.:S

I saw this on the news yesterday and was shocked. I was thinking if two cops have to resort to shooting an unarmed man to subdue him then they have no business being cops. The second article linked leads me to believe one of the two cops was female. I wonder which pulled the trigger.

Did the article say he was shot "in the back" while lying on the ground? I can't find that anywhere....

Witnesses have called Saturday night's fatal police shooting of a 46-year-old an unwarranted attack on an unarmed man as he lay face down on a sidewalk, disputing officers' accounts.

Witnesses on Sunday said Su'e didn't fight the police. He had just left a birthday party when the officers got out of their car with batons drawn, struck him in the leg, then Tasered him until he was face down on the sidewalk.
Then one officer shot him in the back five or six times
, witnesses said.

I normaly side on the side of the police. but it seems that recently, there have been instances where the police are in the wrong, at first glance, this defidently appears that way. 180 lbs is a lot, but not that much. Two officers should be able to subdue someone of that weight/size.

Hmm....after being tazed, the suspect grabbed one of the officers' batons and punched him in the face. Sounds justified to me.

So taking a life can be justified if you get punched in the face?

You've obviously never been hit in the head with a baton. FYI, there's a *REASON* why a club (or baton) is considered a deadly weapon.

So by that reasoning when the police jumped out of the car clubs in hand ready to whale on him ( eyewitness account?)....He would have been justified to kill them?

There are instances where I would consider actions against the officers as self-defense. As I've not been able to read the story, I can't say if I would consider this instance as falling under that criteria or not.

I can see that NO ONE here has learned anything from the Duke "rape" case about believing everything put out by the media right after an incident.

First reports are usually wrong...and often bear no resemblance to the actual facts.
