Dumpster 0 #91 September 26, 2002 Oh Yeah Ya got that right that politics suck!!!! You can discuss them for hours- or days- and never come to anything that even remotely resembles an intelligent conclusion - Ya really gotta have some respect for anyone who make it his or her profession! It's beer thirty - I'm gonna kill some brain cells and see what GWB has been up to today - I wonder if he realizes he has the fate of a big chunk of our planet in his hands??? SpeedRacer 1 #95 September 26, 2002 First of all...not every American loves & agrees with Bush...if you look at US newspapers you'll see a lot of disagreement with his policies (especially re. Iraq), even some within his own party. Maybe its hard to see that if you don't live here. Um.. secondly, lets consider where America stands in the whole world situation. The USA has occasionally done some spectacular blunders but even if it always had taken the most correct course of action every time, we'd still be pissing SOME people off no matter what, simply because we have as much impact as we do economically & politically etc., and also, if there's some serious international military intervention that DOES have to be done (and I'm not saying that attacking Iraq right now is one of them) , its the USA that is expected to step in & get its hands dirty & consequently, suffer whatever political repercussions will come from it. Try to understand: no matter what we do, we are a big, fat, target. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

flyhi 24 #98 September 27, 2002 QuoteIf they could have murdered not 7,000 but 70,000, does anyone doubt they would have done so and rejoiced in it? It appeared that the intent of the attacks was not to hurt Americans, it was to hurt America. Americans were not attacked, American symbols were. If massive deaths were their goal, a jetliner into Yankee stadium or the Orange Bowl would have provided better results. They attacked the symbols of what Americans think makes American great; The World Trade Center (capitalism), the Pentagon (armed forces), and either the Capitol or the White House (government). I believe the death of thousands was just an added benefit for the attackers, not their prime motivator.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics. rushmc 18 #99 September 27, 2002 I'm sorry, but I don't care what they "appeared" to do. America is her people and visa versa. Death to her people was a prime motivator. I believe that they went for both and if 911 was on a Saturday or Sunday last year they would have hit a target you suggested. You can't rationalize these peoples actions! They are evil and they have to go. (I speak of the terrorists, not a people) God bless America!"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
