SublimeBreeze 0 #1 September 8, 2003 Just wanted to see what the skydiving community's eating habits were. I am vegitarian, anyone else? Peace Sean Sean Sean In Thailand
AggieDave 6 #2 September 8, 2003 Oh hell no! I require meat, our bodies are designed to eat meat, we need the complete amino acid chains from red meat for our bodies to funciton properly, we need the protein from meat to function properly. Yeah, you can substitute those things with stuff man made up, or with that tastless pasty shit that vegitarians use as a meat "substitute", but why when our bodies are one way and that's what they like? Never mind that meat just tastes really really good. Ok, take a salad, include tomatos, onions, crutons, now add about 1/2 lb of diced ham and about 1/4lb of cheese and some sliced up hardboiled eggs...THAT is the perfect salad.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Vallerina 2 #3 September 8, 2003 If Boca came out with a good chicken substitute, then I could be a vegetarian. Red meat is easy for me to give up. Pig is a little more difficult (I like ham, but I think I can give up pig after the Bratwurst I had yesterday....my stomach is still hurting ) Chicken is impossible for me to give up, though. I could never be vegan since I love ice cream way too much. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

freeflir29 0 #5 September 8, 2003 "There's room for all of God's creatures. Right next to the potatos." I mostly eat meat. Life is MUCH better since I cut down on the carbs. I do usually eat more lean pork and chicken than red meat though. I'm sure I get plenty of carbs from beer.
PhillyKev 0 #6 September 8, 2003 QuoteI do usually eat more lean pork and chicken than red meat though. Just an FYI...pork actually is red meat. I know it's not physically red in color, but the "red meat" is defined by the way blood is transported through the flesh. All mammals are red meat. Fish and fowl are not. So, if anyone is cutting out "red meat" specifically for health reasons, gotta lose the pork and ham, too.
txblondie 0 #7 September 8, 2003 Anyone at our DZ who's vegetarian is missing out on a lot of good barbecue/steaks/roasts/etc. But, hey, that means more for the carnivores!!!!! ***************************************** Blondes do have more fun! vt1977 0 #11 September 8, 2003 I’ve been vegetarian for nearly 8 years now. The only thing I really miss is roast lamb but I’m still not tempted to revert to eating meat – I feel much healthier being veggie and get far fewer colds and general ailments than I ever did when I was eating meat. MochaSkyChick 0 #12 September 8, 2003 I don't eat a LOT of red meat but I can't pass up the op for a really good steak with garlic smashed potatoes. PMS #62 Zarza R[red
FliegendeWolf 0 #13 September 8, 2003 My gf is vegetarian, so if she cooks, I often eat vegetarian ... but it doesn't bother me at all. When we go out for dinner, she doesn't mind if I order a steak ... but I'll eat vegetarian entrees by my own volition too.A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
hookitt 1 #14 September 8, 2003 Your selection for the poll kinda sucks. There is more to vegitarian or vegan than Just give me a salad please. But what ever you meatarians have no creativity and think Iceberg lettuce and Ranch dressing is the only option other than steak and potatos. Don't eat meat for say two to three months. Then, eat a nice big juicy steak. See how you feel that night.
Vallerina 2 #19 September 8, 2003 Quoteour bodies are designed to eat meat, we need the complete amino acid chains from red meat for our bodies to funciton properly, we need the protein from meat to function properly. I hear this from many people. I read it in Atkins's book. Do you have any links from valid sources (Atkins is not valid) saying that we need meat? From my understanding, the best protein to get was fish or non-animal protein. I am just curious as to where I can read more about that (people needing to eat meat.) Quoteor with that tastless pasty shit that vegitarians use as a meat "substitute", I actually like Boca burgers better than regular burgers! They don't give me that "cement in my stomach" feeling! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
SublimeBreeze 0 #20 September 8, 2003 Good point about the poll, I actually find so much to eat that isn't meat. I only put that as an option so it didn't seem like I was trying to bash meat eaters and so that it didn't seem like an unfair poll, I guess you can't make everyone happy Peace Sean Sean Sean In Thailand
Clownburner 0 #21 September 8, 2003 I don't mind eating a good salad now and then, but I have to kill a rabbit or something at the table at the same time. An animal must die for each of my meals. 'Vegetarian' is a primitive neolithic word meaning "Terrible hunter." Remember, the correct word for someone who eats nothing but vegetables and plants is "Prey." 7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
skytash 0 #22 September 8, 2003 I'm not a vegetarian, but don't eat meat that often. I heard a great radio programme this afternoon with a French chef and have been craving pate since then, now this thread - the cravings are getting worse, I'll have to go shopping! On the BBQ front - I LOVE BBQ'd corn on the cob and always have at least one to go with the meat! tashDon't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. MyOwnWay 0 #24 September 8, 2003 i have a tendency to stay away from red meat, but every once in a while i have to have a big juicy steak. i mainly enjoy eating turkey and chicken. i could never give up that!! the reason i try to stay away from red meat is the long term health issues. but, you only live once, so why not!?_________________________________________ all good things are wild and free - Henry David Thoreau
