This isn't about Christianity, we all know that this chick is not a representation of maintstream christian thought.

It IS about someone who's allowing her personal beliefs and personal sense of morality affect the relationships she has with her friends.

I have a good many friends from all religions, and somehow we not only respect each others beliefs, but manage to get along pretty well while doing so.

Your friend needs a lesson in what is an appropriate way to treat people she thinks are her friends.

So tell me then, is the whole world really damned, or is she just out of her mind?

She's out of her mind. I was exposed to some hard core right wing Christians while I was living in Colorado Springs a few years ago (the Springs is kind of a hub for numerous religious groups including the very mixed up Focus on the Family organization) and everything was the Devil this and the Devil that. If I did something bad, it was because of the Devil. My actions had nothing to do with it. I was possessed by the Devil and God (their God) needed to clense my soul.

I'm not against people with religious beliefs. But I sure would wish they would keep their beliefs to themselves. I choose to do things in my life, not the Devil. >:(

I have to do lots of things for the devil. I found the devil in my bath tub the other night...see pic...ever since I have been taking care of the devil. So what does that make me? Am I doing a good deed or a bad one? I just don't understand all of this good and bad...oh what am I saying I am a Goddess and my church is located at 14000ft to 2500ft...or so...who wants to be at my church?

Oh yeah, beyond belief. Reminds me of the mormon girl i dated.

Ok, I was just reading along this thread until I hit this one-- I am a Mormon, and I am nothing like that. And just to clear one thing up-- WE DO NOT PRACTICE POLYGAMY ANYMORE! Now, yes I did say anymore, but that has been 150 years ago.

Rant-- Anyway, this girl that Wrong Way was talking about needs to get her head screwed on straight and learn that there are approppriate and inappropriate ways of presenting things, as well as "the right time" and "the wrong time". Please don't "stop going to church because of people like that"! We are not all judgmental pieces of crap!-- End rant.

Anyway, that's just my $.02.

Kelly

That's it. You're doomed. You live with the Devil. But I do like your place of worship. B|

Dude. She already believes in non-existant supernatural entities, and is therefore starting off from a position of self-induced stupidity. Added to the fact that she's a prude, you're not only never going to get to bang her, you're also never going to get the soft headed cow to shut up.

Tell her to go tell her inaginary friends about you.

Dude, check her carefully, she is probably wearing a tin-foil hat to enhance her religious reception.

Crazy, nuts, loco, man I just don't have the words for you and am too lazy to look them up :)

Dang, wrongway, if she had also said something about conservative American politicians she could have reduced Gareth to apoplexy in attempting to respond to your post. Just the organized religion thing got him misspelling.

Jason,

Since I am Catholic, I will give you the teachings of the Catholic Faith on this, which of course is a Christian Faith.

No human can ever tell another that they are damned to hell. This is a serious offense against God as He is the only judge of an individual soul. He is also the only one who can judge the culpability of a soul. You only answer to God, noone else.

On the flipside, it is wrong to judge her and her beliefs. If you want to continue with the friendship, it is up to you. If she makes you uncomfortable and continually judges you, you may want to re-think the friendship.

Despite what some people may think, people who practise their faith are not looney. However, they can be fanatical. Once they are fanatical, in essence they are not really practising their faith. But once again, we are not to judge them or their culpability.

Chris

Nonsense. I reserve the purity and depth of my disdain for all religious conservatives, not just American ones.

I'm also too lazy to use the spell checker.

Nonsense. I tell people to go to hell all the time.

By the way, I was once told by a Catholic Priest that prayer was anser to all life's problems. I tried praying for God to fix the transmission on my car. Did he fix it ? Did he fuck. It wouldn't go into reverse after that. Your god might know a lot about many things, but he knows fuck all about late 1970's Volkwagen transmissions.

But I digress. I should have just been happy that priest didn't ask me to check under his cassock. They're a bit like that you know.

Try this one on for size: When I was a teen ager and moved to California, I dated a Mormon, broke up with her due to lack of ass getting,..and then (because I enjoy torturing myself) I started dating a Jahovas witness. Lack of ass getting was the least of my problems, this chick and her mom would pop by unannounced with members of their curch, cult, click, group, whatever...and explain to me HOW I was going to hell. This continued even after I told her good-bye....until I answered the front door naked. That one did the trick.
It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

an agnostic is someone who doesn't know whether or not there is a god. The terms agnosticism and agnostic were coined by Thomas Henry Huxley in 1869 to describe the philosophical and theological view that the truth of the unexistence or existence of God, immortality, and the like are inherently unknowable. People can have scientific or real knowledge of phenomena, but when it comes to what lies behind phenomena there can be no evidence that entitles anyone either to deny or affirm anything.

a deist is someone who believes in god, but believes that god is too great for our little human minds to comprehend. Webster says: Deist: One who believes in the existence of a God or supreme being but denies revealed religion, basing his belief on the light of nature and reason." Deism involves the belief in the existence of God, on purely rational grounds, without any reliance on revealed religion or religious authority.

revealed religion means religion told by people who claim that god "revealed" certain truths to them, ie prophets, the bible, etc...

from what you've posted, you fit the definition of a Deist.

Oh dear lord please save me from your followers...
That pretty much says it all. I am religious, but I hardly ever talk about it because the gap between religion and ethics seems ever expanding.
