Flying, especially at night...
Peace,

Beautiful, isn't. I can't get over how much Quieter is seems in the starry night sky.....

I love the lights and the dark. Since there's so much less to see out near the horizon, if gives me a comfortable, surrounded feeling, kind of like I'm cocooned in cozy darkness. That and the fact that the world seems to be at rest and at peace, make night flying much more calming for me than day flying.

My night currency has lapsed too. :(

Actually, I prefer the more moon-less nights. If I wanted things bright I'd fly in the day. I like a stark contrast between the lights of buildings and the dark of the land and the sky.

Did you ever read the Stephen King story "The Night Flyer"? It's about a vampire who flies around in a black/red Cessna Skymaster, killing people at small airports! Good story, actually!

After a day of bustle at work, just coming home and being quiet; no TV, I don't let the dogs in at first, and just sit there and let the tension evaporate with the quiet.

Very close to mine......to just have some quiet, no TV, no phone, just quiet...this is a simple pleasure.

Clean, crisp sheets on the bed.

Watching nature or the ocean, or better yet....watching a storm on the ocean.

A dog's snuggles and kisses. I miss that:(.

on a bit of a silly note, I really cant say. cuz it might get me in some sort of trouble.

but seriously, a moonless night, in early spring sittin on the front porch on my familys cabin (in AR thats a shack) w/ its tin roof the rain fallin gently enough you can still hear the tree frogs and owls, and nice sippin whiskey in complete and utter darkeness...

We take our dogs (all four of them - 2 jack russells, a staffie and a german shepherd) for walks every evening to the golf course nearby. They absolutely love it! There's a lovely river there, as well, that the dogs love to swim in. The golfers hate us, but that's ok, coz we don't like them much either :P

not jumping sux

first jump of the day--the crisp scent of the morning air.
going to sleep while it's raining with the windows open
the feeling after a good, challenging run

The smell of freshly brewed coffee first thing in the morning, my daughter cupping my face in her hands and telling me she loves me (well those moments make me wanna cry with absolute happiness!! I think only parents know the true meaning of unconditional love) :)

I think the greatest simple pleasure I have, is watching the thousands of ducks and geese as they fly around here.

This is especially interesting when they come in for landing.

The geese do what is known as Whiffling, and roll onto their side while gliding in, thus dropping about 6 to 10 feet, before leveling off again. Its their way of losing altitude fast.

The ducks stop flapping their wings, and tip the ends down, sometimes wobbling side to side, losing altitude fast.

Its a real air show and I'll stop my car anytime anywhere to watch it.
