When did i start..

Recommended Posts

Skydiving ?

Just for the profile, i was trying to decide when its officially recognized ?

I don't have a SIM here (even though i'm not sure it would tell me anyway) & was wondering what the general (or official) opinion was.

By the way, my own opinion is when the first license qualification is achieved.

Any idea/s ? :)

I started jumping in Oct. of 1991 with intention of getting my own gear and staying with it after jump #2
(quit for 5 years & just got back 3yrs ago)
I regret the lay off so much.
I feel like a NEWBIE at present time.

The date of your 1st jump is when you started skydiving.

Don't get all "Technical Virgin dot com" on me now!

Mine was 02 Feb 1985, even though I only did 20 jumps in that year with a break of 7 months between jumps 10 and 11.

No.

It does take a tongue in cheek look at the "When did I start" question WRT sex though. I would imagine that in the current US political climate that it would not be safe for work, however. Even though there is no nudity, the subject matter may be viewed as "sensitive" by some.:D

weird question.

IMO, if you've made more than a single jump, then you started skydiving the day of your first jump.
If you've only done 1 jump with no plans of another one, then you never "started" skydiving, you've simply made a skydive.
A start is a start.

start ( P ) Pronunciation Key (stärt)
v. start·ed, start·ing, starts
v. intr.
To begin an activity or a movement; set out.
To have a beginning; commence. See Synonyms at begin.
To move suddenly or involuntarily: started at the loud noise.
To come quickly into view, life, or activity; spring forth.
Sports. To be in the initial lineup of a game or race.
To protrude or bulge.
To become loosened or disengaged.

so quickdraw, just try to remember when you became loosened and you should be all good. :P

That's probably the best argument and what I'll base my profile on.. thanks. :)

Gives the expression 'To wake up with a start' a whole new outlook too. B|

Liz, I'm cold, just had the flu & missing Eloy and all you guys very much. [:/]

Jason, I don't get the chance to update mine that often, so when I do, I make sure I have a thread all of my own. ;)

Tonto, I'm not putting down 12 years either... the math is far too painful. :P

1st and only tandem was June 1992 at Tilstock UK.
AFF L1 was March 16th 2002 at Sebastian Fla. USA.

Thanks for the input dudes.

March 16th 2002 is it. Tandems as a pax don't count. Only one parachute - and that dive is in someone elses logbook...
