trip at the brain is about it for me. i was more into the metal/self-induced whiplash side of things. but thanks for that flash back!! it's been YEARS since i've heard reference to ST. nice.

i'm thinking during that same time frame for me - janes, mega, cult, metallica, maiden, anthrax.

wow.

What the fuck, Arlo?! You're totally altering my perception of you! >:(:P:)

Butthole surfers are a riot! :D

I spent most of my youth at Circle Jerks, 7 Seconds, Ministry, NIN, Skinny Puppy, Naked Raygun, PIL and RevCo shows...The list continues on and on. B| God that was so much fun..I loved the late 80's

ST was fun listening, but my personal favorite of that era is Dead Kennedys, their lyrics are hilarious and brutally true at the same time, even 20 years later you can see the parallels. Jello Biafra was brillant.

I also liked the ST spinoff Infectious Grooves. Wish they'd put something new out, not sure if they're still together.

edited to add: I forget how I ended up on their site, but these guys are hard as f.ck, not necessarily a great band but pretty entertaining to listen to -- their lead singer screams so loud I started cracking up when I was listening to it, specifically near the end of the song called "Home": Church of Hate

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Suicidal doesn't get NEAR enough credit for how they influenced the music world. These hard rockmetal bands of today, who got their start from the rap/metal scene, wouldn't exist if it weren't for ST.

Suicidal was doing this shit way back in the day, when it wasn't "cool." Even way before Rage came along.

Agreed. And along the same lines, the rap/metal scene would never have come along if it weren't for Faith No More, which is another band that doesn't get nearly enough credit for their creativity and influence.

Hell, Mike Patton is still doing original new shit all over the place.

I totally forgot about the Infectious Grooves...I think I still have a cassette or two from them that I'll have find tonight. :S:)
"You lie, and yo' breath stink"
"Stop funkin' with my head"

There's gonna be some drunken dancing at my place tonight when Infectious Grooves is in da house. :D:D:D

Minor Threat is one of my all time favorites. Even though I'm not sXe (straight-edge) and don't really like the whole scene and movement. I have to give them mad props, even if Ian started that whole "don't drink, don't smoke, don't fuck" garbage.

Another band that is similar style (although I think a lot better) to ST is Biohazard. Their first album is one of my favorite cd's to listen to. East coast always kicks west coast's ass when it comes to metal and hardcore.

What else are you all into? Anyone into Oi? Templars, Cock Sparrer, Oi Scouts, 4 Skins, Combat 84? To name a few..

I've been listening to a lot of Children of Bodom lately, anyone into them? They put on a kick ass show, even though they played with Iced Earth and opened with only a 30 minute slot.

Misfits 77-83 (danzig) is my hands-down favorite.

Well the Oi I can understand, not to many people that are into Oi. Lot of skinheads listen to it. By skinheads I don't mean racist neo-nazi pieces of shit (they stole the true skinhead image and gave the term a bad name), I mean real skinheads (If you don't know what a real skinhead is please look it up before talking trash, they are not racist hate mongers).

Children of Bodom I will also give you, they are a relatively new Metal band from Finland...

But Biohazard? You haven't heard of Biohazard? You have probably heard of the singers wife: Tera Patrick (porn star) :P;)

My user name is also a hardcore band from NYC.

Oh yeah, Iced Earth, they are basically a rip off of Iron Maiden. They aren't bad, they just aren't as kick ass as Iron Maiden.

But then again I was thinking about nothing, and then my mom came in
And I didn't notice she was there and she calls my name and I didn't hear her
And then she started screaming:
Mike, Mike!
And I go What, what's the matter?
She goes What's the matter with you?
I say Nothing mom.
She goes Don't tell me nothing, you're on drugs!
I go No mom, I'm not on drugs, I'm ok, I'm just thinking, you know, why don't you get me a Pepsi?
She goes No, you're on drugs, you're crazy, normal people won't be acting that way!
I go Mom, I'm all right, I'm just thinking, you know, so why don't you, like give me a Pepsi?
And she goes No, you're crazy!
All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me, just one Pepsi.
